  1. When you see the world as a vast conspiracy, the distinction between the CBC and people out there who like the CBC enough to volunteer their time and money to fight for it is academic.
  2. It's been cited previously Argus. You just didn't want to see it. Here it is again. Perrin testified that Harper personally decided that the only test needed for residency for the purpose of holding a senate seat was that you owned $4,000 worth of property in that province. This whole mess belongs squarely at the feet of your hero Harper.
  3. Yes, it's a political forum. But the outcome of the trial isn't a political question, it's a legal one. So, people are entitled to their own opinions. I'm just establishing the validity of said opinions. Do you guys go and watch a bridge under construction and express your view that the engineering is flawed? Or second guess a space launch and tell them that their rocket science is all wrong? No? Then maybe I'll just wait and see what the judge has to say.
  4. The CBC is a public broadcaster. Google it if you want to understand the difference.
  5. So. I'm going to type slowly so you get this. If you. Or socialist. Or any of the tinfoil hat-wearing right wing conspiracy crowd have any actual evidence that the CBC had something to do with these ads. Then present it. Otherwise, this entire thread is just a bunch of whining and baseless conspiracy mongering.
  6. Flat tax. Flat earth. Same level of thinking.
  7. Here is the link. and a quote Just another day of poor governance.
  8. It's a pro-CBC ad but the CBC had no part in making it. Do you understand that? Because we're trying to decide whether your post was a result of lack of honesty or lack of understanding of the English language. It would help if you could clear that up.
  9. like that left wing Kevin O'Leary
  10. Did you even bother to read the link you just posted? The ads aren't the product of CBC and CBC itself has refused to run them. This type of dishonest post should be deleted by the moderators.
  11. He is supposed to be an economist.
  12. Yes. There are plenty of people with no qualifications and they all have opinions. If any of you are lawyers, they might be worth something. Otherwise, I'll wait to hear what the judge says.
  13. Certainly, that is what he's hoping. People won't remember this details but I think this has permanently tarnished his image as the calm, competent politician and finally exposed what a scheming, conniving PMO he runs. Now, in the middle of a recession caused by an economy too dependent on oil and a stock market crash, he's stuck explaining what an economic genius he is.
  14. Yes. This is Harper's mess and all of the cover-ups that culminated in the behavior that is now before the court were attempts to cover for him.
  15. Hey, man. You're bumming out the Harper echo chamber with all these facts. Why can't you just sing along with the choir?
  16. By all means. Prejudge the outcome of the trial. But just to allow everyone to appropriately weight your opinion, can you tell us your legal credentials?
  17. Duffy was attaching conditions to accepting the payoff, such as PMO making the audit go away. In a certain light, I can have a certain degree of sympathy for Duffy. It seems like he was prepared to fight for his view, which was that he was entitled to claim expenses for living in Ottawa. He abandoned his fight on the condition that the PMO pay him off and make sure that his name didn't get dragged through the mud. I guess he didn't think that the PMO would double-cross him. What's funniest about all of this, though, is all the Harper apologists around here saying "nothing to see here, folks". If this was a Liberal or NDP administration, they would be saying very different things. I guess attitudes and values flow from the top down. And so does the hypocrisy.
  18. It sounds like both to me. The PMO paid a sitting senator $90,000 to take a specific actions. The actions were negotiated on both sides. Sounds a lot like a bribe. The only question is why isn't Wright also being charged with bribery? The logical answer is that they needed one side to testify against the other and they thought they had a better chance at getting Duffy.
  19. Shall we wait for the judge to weigh in or just end the trial now?
  20. Perrin testified that Harper, against Perrin's advice, insisted that the only criterion for the the senate residency was that someone own $4,000 worth of property. So the origin of this mess rests at Harper's feet. Perrin told Harper there was no legal basis for this but hey, this is Harper. He doesn't need to listen to anyone.
  21. Huh. So you've prejudged the trial. You think that they charged Duffy with bribery even though there is no evidence. Fascinating. Why do you waste your brilliant mind here?
  22. Honestly, I'm glad I don't have to make the decision as to whether to question a PM during an election campaign. But after reading the testimony reports, it sure sounds like Duffy was the patsy that wouldn't quite fit under the bus when he was thrown. It's hard to think of Duffy as a victim but it sounds like the problem originated with him taking the PM's word that he qualified as a resident of PEI.
  23. Maybe you should talk to the Justice Department. They think they have evidence. You guys are all about law and order. Except when it comes to Conservatives.
  24. Wow. You think you're the first guy around here to try to put lipstick on this pig of a government? Let's call what it is - corruption. The PM meddled in senate affairs. Then the PMO covered it up and covered up the cover up. Then they capped it by trying to bribe a sitting senator. Do we need transparency? Yeah, to keep an eye on all of the corruption. And this just shows how the government funded PMO is focused on petty Conservative Party business rather than than the business of Canada. But it's far from the worst thing this PM has done.
  25. Translation: I'm tired of the Conservatives being taken to task for their poor judgement and corrupt behavior. I guess you'd rather they be taken to task for policies that make our economy more dependent on a single volatile commodity?
