The word “accept” is a problem. Religious and non religious people should not accept murder, and rape. We may personally be unable to change it but why would we accept it. I would like us to engage in what is most important in life. Religion and Politics are foundations for how we live. One does not need to be religious to want to reduce the number of abortions in this country and to protect the ideal that the nuclear family represents for child rearing. Do I need to explain how our parliamentary system works the theliberal? People in Ontario vote in MPs who work on their behalf and if they vote in Conservatives they will be from Ontario. Ontario having the largest number of seats it will be when pigs fly that Alberta runs the country. The largest contingent of delegates at the CPC national convention was Ontario with over 1000 participants. What we need is a Leader for Canada and not a region or a special interest. Harper has that ability. As for Barbra Yaffe, I find much better political analysis on this forum. She lacks insight and doesn't grasp strategy. The Chief won his first majority without Quebec only to sweep in his second term with a large representation from Upper Canada.

Our system is focused on dealing with the sick and not preventing sickness. IMO we have a longer life expectancy because we are a developed G8 country with better than average, air, water, education and employment. These things add up to prevention. High cigarette taxes, sport programs and many other preventions may also help.

The vast majority of people do get good health care and it is from our GPs who run private businesses and get paid by government insurance. The wait times have more to do with the hospital system. We are also on the edge of a bigger problem as the age bubble with doctors is extreme and in the next ten years the challenge of finding a family physician will only get worse. Consider that health care has the lowest morale numbers of any profession in Canada, the retention and recruitment of new skill workers will be tough.

Show me the new state of the art military equipment. Point me to the progress made on reducing CO2 emissions. Our universities are harder to get into and the cost is going up in leaps and bounds. In BC if you get hurt on the job you get to go straight past the line into a private clinic thanks to WCB insurance. If you need you eyes fixed you go to a private clinic. If you want an MRI in Alberta while you are still young you go to a private clinic. And if you have a soft tissue injury you find out treatment is not covered in any province but yet the PMPM still claims we don't have two-tier health-care. The federal government’s great answer today has been that they are managing wait lines. While the next time I am sick I will feel better to know that the line is being managed. Oh boy...

The Liberals who argue that the courts are supreme will now have to navigate the privatization of health care. Gerywal is a flash in the pan and Canadians didn't want an election right now. When we have the Gormery election 8 months from now the world will be a different place.
