  1. Can't use your own seeds only for Canola? Do you have to use their sprays and stuff for the canola crop?
  2. HooEh! Who's watching Rick Mercer and 22 Minutes tonight?
  3. Are you signed into a contract with a pharmaceutical / petrochemical company for your annual seed, fertilizer and other chemicals? Are you allowed to farm without them?
  4. Actually, our new anti-terrorism laws just finished their first test in a Brampton courtroom and led to a guilty verdict. We have the capability to try him here. We just currently lack the political will to try.
  5. it would have to be a coalition, a repeat of how the Reform, er, Harper Party managed to usurp Parliament; a majority of left-of-center would have to agree on one leadership.... Elizabeth May is so far above this left-right divide so Jack wins half the spectrum if Gerrard will admit he was wrong.
  6. R.I.P. G.O.P. We'll have to consult Alanis Morissette on the irony of that.
  7. Huh? Then why did I hear more than 1 Republican tonight blaming partisan politics and that a woman named Nancy would only allow a certain number of pro-motion votes before her party, The Democrats, made sure the motion would fail. There needs to be more accountability for the CEO's, more industry regulations, and more help for main street vrs. wall street.
  8. I'll watch the American late-night tv hosts for their VP's debate highlights. Heck, they've been closer to real news in the last 7 years anyways... Also because Canadian Politics is soooo much more important.
  9. No one's saying we should bring him back and immediately set him free. Just bring him back so we can deal with our own, our own way, just like every other country has done with their citizens who ended up in Gitmo. He's a Canadian kid who was dragged into his father's nightmare. To not show him some mercy only galvanizes the attitude of his father's buddies. While his mom and sisters were a national embarrassment on TV a while ago, here's what Omar said recently: Omar's Letter
  10. Harper definitely wears more eye-liner than you. Don't know whether that equals smarts though...
  11. I'm not so mad at the Liberals as at Gerrard Kennedy for throwing his drunken support behind Dion instead of Michael Ignatieff. They deserve what they get from that bad decision.
  12. I thought it was quite diplomatic, honest, and non-partisan for Obama to sometimes say "John's right". I don't think McCain was as mature though. History will judge that, bud.
  13. too true. I'm embarrassed by this fetish my fellow Canadians have for all things American. It's silly and immature.
  14. Harper's neo-conservative, Reform, Canadian Alliance, Conservative-without-Progressive, anti-PC party only took the seat of power by amalgamating. It's time the Liberals realized their mistake in not choosing Iggy for leader and allow the NDP to carry the day, united with all left-of-center seeking citizens!!! Actually, I'd prefer Elizabeth May and her Green Party. Even if it means Harper gets another minority... Majority though? Forget it. I'll fall in line with every good Liberal to avoid that; I've seen what the Mike Harris' of the world can do and I don't like it.
  15. McCain can't even remember the proper lyrics to Barbara Ann. Why would he make a joke of bombing Iran? Is he senile? Too true. But aren't we all suckers for that drama? I think it was the movie "Lorenzo's Oil", with Nick Nolte, (another hollywood reference ) where the original meaning of arrogance was made public to Hollywood goers... Arrogance: To take responsibility for oneself. Yes, I agree. Obama did seem a bit arrogant.
  16. I recently left a forum of people that I'd known for a long time over this topic. I was ashamed at how many of them couldn't give a rat's behind about this kid. The majority of them thought that, while it's not right for him to wait so long for a `trial', he should stay where he is because he deserves it. The majority of them assume the trial will be a fair one because, hey, it's the Americans. The majority of them think he deserves what he gets and anyone who disagrees is in league with the Taliban... The majority of them were letting their anger cloud their judgement and/or letting today's political leadership define what's `ok'. I left a bunch of ignorant people. They couldn't see that our treatment of this citizen is wrong; It's against our own laws, it's against international treaties that we've signed, it gives the average Afghani a good reason to hate us, it puts our soldiers at greater risk, it says to the world that we endorse torture and/or that we're too weak to tell our Allies when to back off. I'm glad to see a broader mix of opinions in this forum. I hope the Supreme Court will tell our Prime Minister to get Omar out of that circus. Today's news: Buckshot
  17. Definitely. I don't understand how anyone could see it differently. Obama was speaking in real-time whereas McCain was regressing to rehearsed statements his handlers helped him memorize. In my opinion, McCain looked like one of those crooked-neck, turkey-vulture politicians from the movie "The Dark Crystal."
  18. But it's so rude, so obviously rude for him to avoid eye contact. Obama's showing the old man too much respect; holding his tongue while McCain attempts character assassination right in front of him, not even looking him in the eye!!!
  19. Why can't McCain look Obama in the eye during this dialogue? Obama shows him the utmost respect, eye contact and all, yet McCain speaks to the cameras and the negotiator as though Obama is in a different room... Unconscious racism?
  20. Harper needed an election to be called before the doomed implosion of the markets. He knew it would be bad, politically, to campaign for re-election after catastrophic failure so found a way to break his word and call an early election by blaming Parliament for being `uncooperative' before the fall session had even begun. Far too many Canadians fell for this and it looks like he'll win at least a minority now. BTW: Those markets are imploding due to the trend to `deregulate'; something popular among conservative politicians. We're not supposed to think that though.... Very True.
  21. Say again? nm. Just read today's news. I pray Pakistanis will understand.
  22. ... I think most of the conscious people in the world realized it was bogus; It was so obvious, Colin Powell could hardly finish his sentences. To the topic, if Musharreff was honestly chasing the Taliban from the start, Afghanistan would be much more stable now. It's highly undiplomatic for NATO to engage the enemy on Pakistan's turf but... this justification might not be bogus and might help keep Canadian soldiers alive. There should be more effort to get Pakistan's new government (and army general) to agree though.
