He deserves a fair trial, in Canada, in front of fellow Canadians. -

What the Liberal Party did to Canada
Radsickle replied to Kitch's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
No. There are bad government policies like de-regulating markets. Policies which silly people think will be for the good of many... those same silly people think that cutting taxes is the answer to everything. Those people are actually just more selfish than the majority. The `invisible hand' simply takes what it can. The markets around the world are catching the same virus that globalism brings every few years. Allow young, North American economists free reign in their `free market' and they will try new methods to get rich quick. They'll sell it to other countries banks before anyone knows the actual value. Only some of the Canadian banks were stupid enough to buy into it. Most weren't allowed to go there, luckily. Populist? Maybe in Alberta... -

What worries me is your assumptions. Which illegally-jailed Canadian hasn't there been an outcry for yet? -

Those Certificates are definitely controversial and I believe that the Supreme court is dealing with the legality of them. Just as they're dealing with Khadr. Their message so far... Khadr is Canadian. Khadr has been tortured. Khadr's incarceration is not in accordance to our laws... Guess what they're gonna say next... -
What the Liberal Party did to Canada
Radsickle replied to Kitch's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
What I heard today is that Canada is in the best shape to weather the economic storms around us BECAUSE of Liberal economic policies of the past and that, had Harper been in charge during that time, we would be $%&@-ed now. -

The Geneva Conventions also consider a situation which the French Resistance sometimes found itself in, a "Melee en Masse," when a number of `locals', wearing different clothes, would band together to resist an invading force. I think the CF rules of engagement mention this also. Where do you suggest deporting a kid who was born in Toronto? I'm concerned about this kid BECAUSE I'm concerned about our country and its soldiers; we are not winning any hearts and minds by ignoring our agreed-upon duties and responsibilities as a freedom-loving and human-respecting nation. -

Dude, I've checked all the links... If you meant post # 24, it says nothing about Omar `prowling'. Please post a link to your claim... I saw the grainy video of Omar learning what his f-head role models were teaching him about IEDs. Did he ever put that lesson into practice? I don't know. There's a lot of doubt about whether he took up arms against the US soldiers raiding the compound. Whatever he might have said was probably said under `duress' at Bagram or Gitmo. There's a lot of rumours. We would know more if we had him back here. I don't want to create doubt in the mind of the Canadian soldier who has to fire back on the battlefield, regardless of age. That's another reason I left my previous group; some of them were about to ship out and I didn't want to upset them. It's a UN-endorsed mission, a noble cause, and I respect what they do. I look forward to everyone's return. But, once Omar was `processed', Canada should have acted according to it's commitments. It was a Liberal failure then and a Conservative failure now. -

Dude, that's quite a claim. When was he `prowling'? Can you include a link to this part of the story? Canada recently signed a treaty that defined anyone under 18 as a child soldier: International Treaty Canada hasn't bothered to ask for him back. -

Correction. After consulting the farmer, it seems I was off a few digits. There's only 260 plants on a fraction of an acre and apparently the yield is more like 1400 bushels per acre. The nearby Saturday Farmer's Market plus an on-site storefront help get them sold. -

I contribute too.... without the Carbon Footprint of a Dinasaur. BTW, it's about 40 bu/acre of tomatoes, numerous varieties. Pick 16 Bushels, turn around, and the whole field's red again. Not bad, eh? -

Was Canada `officially' involved in Afghanistan in July of 2002? How would it be treason? Khadr would have seen his Dad's buddies as the `home' team; fellow countrymen. Yes, they were fascist Taliban F-heads, but he was seeing it from their side at 15 years old. The `coalition' forces would be seen by him as the `invaders'. Isn't it natural to try to defend one's home from invaders? Now that he's removed from the poisonous life his Dad gave him, shouldn't we try to show this impressionable kid who the bad guys really were? Canada used to show compassion for child soldiers. What happened? I thought the mission was UN-endorsed and an international effort... Who said the States would have the right to try all the captors in a UN Coalition effort? Britain and Australia had the strength to oppose this and they re-patriated their own from Gitmo and dealt with them at home. -

Bill C-36, the basis of Canada's new anti-terrorism legislation, was rushed into law in the fall of 2001. `Buckshot Bob', as he became known at Bagram Air Force Base due to his wounds, was caught on July 27th, 2002. The bill has gone through some revisions over the years, with parts of it proven unconstitutional, but Omar's case could be tried here. -

Beg all you want but I'm not talking about cash-cropping. I'm talking tomatoes, garlic, onions, potatoes, peppers, beans, melons, etc... and a sustainably-sized spread of each. -

Dude, I work on an organic farm where they still use the pre-pharmaceutical methods of weed control: Crop rotation, mulch, and this ancient, magical instrument known as a `hoe'. A bit of elbow grease early in the season and most plants are now booming. I doubt a conventional farm's yield could even compare. There's no `infestations' either. Weed infestations aren't the enemy; they're just a symptom of unhealthy soil most times. -

Looks like Americans are shaking off the fear-mongering control that Karl Rove inflicted on them for years. Bush and McCain keep warning of doom and gloom while the rest of America wakes up from their bullcrap. -

... in other words, a minority government with an equal opposition. Could happen, especially if we all press for proportional representation instead of this silly horse race Luddites still rely on. -

The telephone Polls? Post a link to your `polls' and I'll tell you what I think. Otherwise, it's a manipulative, political tactic that most salesmen wouldn't even use. -

Well, good luck to you. But I'd imagine alot of money leaves your farm for one or another petrochemical product. Yet, if you're growing your own fuel, it sounds half-way to sustainable. How many acres per year do you need for your biodiesel? The Amish and Mennonites do have it made though, dude.... totally sustainable. Cuba's got it right too. And Organic produce is worth at least twice as much as a pharma-farm's produce in more enlightened parts of my province... The con$umer demand and preference is for organic and local and there's not enough people doing that anymore. Most farmers around here have been sold into the RoundUp-Ready seed/fertilizer/herbicide regimes; locked into contracts as representatives of one or another company, the landscape and perfect-looking fields being sold as the result of another great chemical invention. You probably think those are the smart farmers, eh? Are you sure Ontario doesn't know how to farm? Almost every large field in South-Western Ontario has some sort of Company logo roadside to the crop. Do you have to allow the advertising on your property for the canola?
