Khadr should make us ashamed to be Canadian
Radsickle replied to Leafless's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
Maybe in late 30's Germany. Where would you send a Canadian Citizen? Not that you'll ever write Canadian Government policy.... Let Harper expose his fascist tendencies once again. Maybe this time Canadians will see it. "Beaten down"? Are you from Canada or do you work for Fox News? You spell like you're from Fox. As most Canadians who follow this story know, he would not be "instantly released." -
Khadr - Court rules he must be Repatriated
Radsickle replied to Keepitsimple's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I'm really sick of this `moving forward' trend. `Turning the page' is too close to that easy escape, that cliche. I agree, Cap, there are many other problems facing this country and there will probably be a lawsuit against the government, but only after Canada has made an honest effort to try Mr. Khadr according to our current laws. Let's not sweep this under the rug; let's have it out. At least have a public inquiry; there's something for our Nation to learn here. And there are hearts and minds to make amends with. -

Alberta was. I think America's less interested in it now though. What do Albertans think of Omar? Should we repatriate him? -

Khadr should make us ashamed to be Canadian
Radsickle replied to Leafless's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
Regarding why Canadians should be ashamed of how our successive governments, Liberal and Conservative, have treated Mr. Khadr: the not-so-honourable Stephen Harper and his predecessors on the Liberal Side of today's Canadian Political Spectrum have allowed the sort of moral corruptions and abuses of human rights that W and Jabba the Hut allowed and encouraged during their watch. If you need to hear more, try reading a newspaper. I'm not going to entertain that with much of a response either, kid. It takes away from the profoundity of today's news. I will say that you should check out the crowds of boos that this country has greeted W with every time he stank up our country with his presence. Oh, and you should read the details of today's decision and how Khadr's situation is in direct contradiction of previous Canadian legislation. I'm also eager to hear what Iggy thinks. He once almost tried to condone torture (since recanted). -

Hooeh to today's news is all I will say. Let the dogs nip at the judge's heels, it was the correct decision. -

HOOEH for the spirit of justice: April 23, 2009 (better late than never) It might be political suicide for Harper to ignore the kid now. He'll try to appeal it though; one can't expect an accountant to think like a judge or human rights advocate... Heck, I bet Harper tries to have that judge fired. -

Show trials are good... they distract people from the important questions like why isn't Carl Rove behind bars? -
Harper says Ignatieff has no moral compass
Radsickle replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Harper Sucks. He uses phrases he thinks will resonate with the most voters. He doesn't think about important things; he advertises his `brand' and repeats the buzzwords instead. It's embarassing. It's like a smarmy, late-night, TV salesman has taken over Canada. -
Karl Rove accosted by ex-GOP chief of staff

Didn't the Nazis do something similar? Rove's just Himmler re-incarnated into a capitalist version. -
Thanks for reposting that part of the link, Tango. I'm sure people would have had trouble clicking it themselves.

PMO hires former White House spokesmen

Wasn't a Conservative Government responsible for NAFTA in 1992? Huh? Mulroney Baloney? What are you talking about? At least they were a more respectable party than Harper's Reform CRAP -
This article disturbed me. I value her opinion very much. Irshad Manji on Tuesday

Carolyn Parrish for ... ... Deputy PM!!! Parrish pissed off the Bush supporters at that time and I say GOOD FOR HER! But Harper just sucks. Sucks Fox Network Ass. -

Hopefully there won't be a case, not the kind Kuebler had to fight the last few years. Hopefully, Gitmo will be history and Canada will have to grow up and deal with its own. Hopefully Canada will soon choose a better leader than Harper. -
Canadian stranded in Sudan refused passport
Radsickle replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Next time he asks for help from Canada, lets send him a note telling him to look more like Brenda Martin if he really expects Canada to care. Doesn't he notice that Canada doesn't care about him or Omar Khadr anymore?! Geeze, get with the times. Canada's moving forward and we won't be burdened by sob stories anymore. Political Optics are more important than human rights these days. So what if you're a citizen... Geeze. Harper sucks -

MacKay to NATO: consider all candidates
Radsickle replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
MacKay Jr., even without the early-political-years thick glasses, is the dolt who, weirdly in charge of the PC at the time, allowed the merger between the respectful Progressive Conservative Party and Harper's Reform/CRAP party. Don't know what the PC were thinking when they chose him. I saw that, like Harper, he's part of this political breed that thinks if they can hold their posture and pronounciate the buzz-words properly, they'll have power. I didn't think Mr. Biden would be so obtuse. Didn't he do any research?!?! Maybe it's a backroom deal like "We'll back off Oil Sands Development if you let Peter run NATO for a year or two." -
Anyone catch this on CBC today? The Current for March 09, 2009 "It's Monday, March 9th. George Bush's former advisor, Karl Rove, has agreed to testify before the House Judiciary Committee even though he thinks it may turn into a show trial. Currently, And for the record, Rove would like to make it clear that he fully appreciates the value of a good show trial." I heard an audio clip of the psychopath on the radio later today, trying to manipulate the religious right's reaction to the stem cell funding announcement. He was morally upset? HAH! He was upset all right; he'd worked so hard to make sure it was banned to please the pharmaceutical industries that were probably going to lose money from the development of more efficient treatment methods. Oh, boo hoo, Karl. I hear Al Qaeda might be looking for a good propagandist. Send em your resume, F#@&Face.

Khadr should make us ashamed to be Canadian
Radsickle replied to Leafless's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
If there's still justice in the world, Bush and his whole administration will find it difficult to travel, constantly on the lookout for another country trying to try them in the International Criminal Court for what they did. Except Canada, of course. We idolize America too much and Bush and Cheney will always be welcome, regardless of what they've done or whatever international agreements Canada's signed in the past. shame -
Obama The Great Word Smith Falters.
Radsickle replied to Oleg Bach's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
In American lore, it's important that the sentences be repeated properly. The Chief Justice fumbled the phrase. Obama patiently waited for the man to correct himself. Apparently, Obama didn't want this guy to be a chief justice in the first place. They re-did the passage later on, just to be sure it was said properly. -

Ignatieff Speaks. Take From it What You Will.
Radsickle replied to Progressive Tory's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
You can try to change the perspective but I think it's obvious who was puckering-up to Bush's behind. Harper's taken every cue from his idols, the Republican Barbarions, since he was chosen leader of the loser Reform/Alliance party, otherwise known as CRAP. Harper doesn't lose any sleep over a Canadian Citizen being tortured. Still doesn't. He's more concerned with stock market gains than ethics. P.S. Tim Hortons coffee sucks and it's not even a Canadian company anymore. Wake up and smell the %$!
