  1. Get real. He was being babysat by his Dad's buddies. They were told to `look after him'. They came under surprise attack by the American soldiers. He happened to be there. I guess they forgot to put on their uniforms before returning fire, eh? And there are clauses in the Geneva Conventions for out-of-uniform `fighters'. The French Resistance didn't have any friggin' uniforms.
  2. Our idiotic Prime Minister would have to call a press conference to re-name it the `American Flu' after he stupidly called it the `Mexican Flu' recently.
  3. Although we've got our share of freaks, torturing a 15 year old is not part of Canada's culture. It wasn't part of America's either, until Bush.
  4. What's the problem, did I forget a comma? What part of the sentence you quoted couldn't you comprehend? The judge was dismissed because of his repeated rulings against the government.
  5. ohh, Benny wants to be a psychoanalyst.... but he's right; Canada should jump at this chance.
  6. Dude, I totally repect your reasons for reading that rag now. I also would study it to learn the antithesis. It did serve a balancing purpose, I suppose. But maybe that was a step backwards and Canadian journalists had already won many awards without having to sell a `brand' of newspaper.
  7. Dude, normally I would hack at Harper but he didn't say `cut-and-run'. Don't be manipulative. He merely prepared the older Canadians for the letdown approaching when the romantic ending of this `war' doesn't happen.
  8. It was slick because it was young. It didn't have a `character' yet and was able to become what the researchers said was desirable. It still sucked. It was a political tool for Conrad Black-like characters; right-wing corporate types. It had no journalistic integrity in its first years; it was almost entirely partisan. Some journalists went on to have respectable careers but I bet they don't brag about once being part of the National (piss) Post. Good riddance. Next someone will try to defend the Toronto Sun....
  9. hopefully.... But, I'm sorry, this topic was about supporting our troops and what that means...
  10. Either way, I'm not too hurt by the likes of you both telling me I need to improve my comprehension.
  11. So you're not part of the recently misinformed who think this trial's just beginning and that Khadr hasn't been humiliated by the American's show trial for years already? It's not "ongoing", it's a start and stop trial. Before, when Carl Rove controlled it, the trial would be halted while they fired a judge they disagreed with. Now the trial gets halted because a good American President can see how illegal the whole situation is. The current military judge has announced that Omar Khadr's show trial will continue in June. For you to sum it up as an `ongoing' trial makes me think you don't really care.
  12. Tell Bambino, are they not the same person? The same impotent figurehead, a relic of the past, something the average Brit barely tolerates any tax money going toward anymore? Let's put this antiquated costume ball to rest.
  13. Huh? I don't care what sort of metaphorical acrobatics are employed to make this sentence seem acceptable. There is something wrong with the very notion of a `Queen' of my Canada.
  14. I can't wait to wish him good riddance!
  15. Oleg, you know it was Omar's Dad who was Canada's problem. Let's not blame the child for his Dad's mistakes. (Thanks for trying to get back on topic though)
  16. Did you get that too, Bambino?
  17. back to the point though... the show trial must go on!!! Khadr's trial to resume in June
  18. Nope, I'm still reading...
  19. screw patience. I'm tired of this `wait and see' weakling approach. Any evidence to be presented has already been. No amount of waiting will change the historical fact that Canada really went astray here. We took our eyes off the ball.
  20. Thanks for clearing that up.... did you get that Bambino?
  21. 74.6947 percent of statistics are made up on the spot.
  22. So friggin' what?!?! The protest has been going on for days and the police have been cooperative. Are you new to protests, buddy? Some "barrie" barricades are there for good reason. The protesters chose to push the envelope to gain attention to their good cause. The fact some were arrested is not even slightly an example of a `police state' or whatever else you're trying to insinuate. Why don't you go to some protests if you're so passionate?
