  1. Now that's a link! I would say that the Canadian system is held hostage by pharmaceutical companies `vested interests', not unions. Canucks are very gullible when it comes to whatever pill will `cure' your ill. It's a poor approach to healthcare; to allow the snake-oil salesmen such a stranglehold. But who can compete with lobbyists and commercials on American Networks? We'd get more `bang for the buck' if we supported more of the `alternative' approaches.
  2. correction, Baboon calls it the UN Ranking but his link shows it to be the WHO ranking... and when you click on the `WHO ranking' list, you get another page on photius.com's site, which is a `division of theodora', which is obviously a corporation and not a respectable Non-Governmental-Organization. The whole website is suspect and should never be used as a link to a respectable organization.
  3. Canada's fourth in that new list. France is fifth... do the math. As for England, I know a few people there and they don't like the two-tier.
  4. oh? From your link, the following revised list: Seems we're better than France a few years later...And England plummetted in that study because they tried the two-tiered approach.
  5. did you just link an actual WHO ranking or Thedora's propaganda? Follow your links. Here's something a bit more current, actually from the World Health Organization: http://www.who.int/whr/2008/summary.pdf
  6. Wow, you are a troll. Lily's right. I see it now.
  7. That explains a lot regarding your posts.
  8. I guess the article's saying that, while Canadians love their health-care system, they also don't want to pay more taxes to keep it going and improve it. So the dreaded co-payment is discussed along with other funding sources for further improvement of our rocking Health Care ideology. The ideal might be outta reach, but at least we're trying for it!
  9. I would be the last to suggest a two-tier system. From what I've learned, they ruin the ideal. But there was a good article in last Sunday's Toronto Star about alternative funding sources and co-payments for those who can afford it. http://www.thestar.com/article/668161
  10. Americans are conditioned to be competitive in every aspect, even health. If you're healthy, you have a competitive advantage over those less healthy. If you have enough money, you have a competitive advantage over those less fortunate and unable to afford healthcare. In Canada, this is seen as primitive and pitiful. Argue all you want, Canada's system rocks and this Shona Holmes twit is a lone, stupid voice who does NOT represent most Canadians.
  11. What about water? Ooops, corporations are ruining that too.
  12. So CSIS agents fly down there with no knowledge of Omar's situation? Or they were too stupid to know exactly how they were breaking laws?
  13. Our current (and embarrassing) Prime Minister. He does regular interviews on Fox.
  14. Whaddya mean, wishful? I'm not out to `get' CSIS, I'm out to puke on them.
  15. Or Canadian Culture does still have a bad, systemic habit of racial discrimination. Try renting an apartment in Southern Ontario with an East-Indian accent. There will always be the apologists who claim that Canada's fine, they're often part of the problem.
  16. wow, that's so, like, deep. Seriously though, what's wrong with Socialism? Eh? Free Health-Care, Free Tuition, less submission to corporate lobbyists....
  17. Yes. Each one chips in a few loonies. So what? Are you just anti-tax because you have to pay a lot?
  18. oh. So you agree CSIS probably knew they were breaching international treaties and the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms before they interviewed Khadr.
  19. Saving almost everybody for free, without them having to mortgage their homes, is better. Regardless of what the selfish think.
  20. This twit makes it seem like the doctors in Canada were so cold that they told her 6 months wait time even though they knew she would die. This isn't the case at all. Shona might've had one doctor tell her she might die in 6 months and reacted so angrily that she's become a vengeful spokesperson for the capitalists who like to make money off of sick people. Although she'd never admit it, she's selling out Canada's Health Care to appease her "many American friends." Now she's suing her country for the $100,000 she paid to jump in front of the lineup by going to the States. Holmes is a pawn, not a star
  21. That's Kimmy being sarcastic again. Don't hate her; cynicism's popular. I would say Craig1 is an Ambassador for improving the public education system.
  22. Uh oh... the government of Canada called today and, apparently, I'm not allowed to call you a `lefty' no matter where the text is stored. Back to the issue though, I'd rather buy from my fellow Canadians any time. The recent `Buy American' thing has hurt many people in Canada but I can totally understand the inclination in hard times to return to the grassroots, the community, and $upport it first. That doesn't explain why so many gullible Canadians bought crappy cars for so long though. I'll never be that nationalistic.
