  1. Is this the Conservative reply to everything? So basically, what I'm getting from these debates is that Harper and the Conservatives are the exact same as the Liberals?
  2. Official policy or not, it has been an expected act of government. And while the US may be a 'free and democratic society', the possibility of 'flaws' as you call them, is alive and well.
  3. Like transparency in government? Fixed election dates? Party hoping? Unelected Senate members? Pick your poison.
  4. Wow, could you imagine if these flaws affected a family member of yours, or even you? Wonder if you would be so careless about it if it was your neck on the guillotine.
  5. Yes, the taxes are our money, so why not eliminate, or decrease the income tax rather than the GST? Cutting income tax by 2% would save me anywhere from $700 to $800 annually. GST savings for me have been marginal, given that most of the items I consume have risen drastically in price anyway. I see you are assuming that all Canadians who make large amounts of money pay the taxes they should. A crummy 2% cut in GST means nothing to someone who can't afford a car, gas, McDonald's, etc, where the income tax cut would. Yes, the OP must be, which is why they suggested leaving all taxes high. Oh wait, they didn't, they suggested cutting a different tax. Really? Please explain to me how going to a bar is a necessity to survival? How many have died without their daily McDonald's? When so many can afford so little, it most certainly is a concern to me. But hey, I'm only human... I think you might want to look in the mirror.
  6. And at what percentage should we be worried?
  7. Where as now, more people are working... longer hours, for less money.... which pays for even less because of rising food/ gas/ living costs.... And you understand that the reason this was implemented was to ensure that the population continues to increase. After all, a nation with no population is also a nation with no workers. Of course, I understand that the right seems to have issues with the concept of seeing beyond their own lives/ wealth. However, $400 per child? It was meant to be an incentive, not a career
  8. Harper? Talk to the media? Come on now.... They wouldn't be able to ask him about this anyway.... Not unless the question was prescripted and angled to make him a hero
  9. Of course, in the Conservative mindset, the PM is not responsible for anything, and should not have any idea of what his people are doing. This perogative is one that should only be applied to Liberal leaders. It's amazing how many double standards you have to hold to vote Right.... truly astounding...
  10. Who needs this income tax cut? Harper is gonna cut my GST another 2%!!!! Yeah baby!!!
  11. Dick Cheney, is that you? But seriously, answer the man's questions.... and btw, can anyone provide me with a link supporting the claims of Harper trying to re-route this money to artists?
  12. I don't often agree with Blueblood or take their side, but wow, if this is what you honestly think of farmers, you are in the wrong nation my friend. Farmers are among the hardest workers this country has, and do not receive nearly the support they should.
  13. Just when I thought Layton was the only one I could vote for, he does something stupid like this. While it most certainly does affect us, there is nothing any of our leaders could do to change the situation. Lame attempt Jack, you let me down.
  14. You're right, we should continue to divert those funds to big oil..... we all know they need it. This tax break sounds exactly like the whole GST cut fiasco. Does absolutely nothing to help those who actually need it. Man, what has Canada become?
  15. Not novel at all, however, much like it is totally okay for those on the right to complain about what the Liberals funded, the left is entitled to the same.
  16. Come on Brian..... please explain how this is all the parents fault to me.... enlighten me on this.... in fact, can anybody please explain how the parents should be able to make this work?
  17. I believe this situation should have been resolved YEARS AGO (fault assigned to ALL parties).
  18. So what you're saying is that the poor Ontario kid who'se parents used to work at oh let's say, GM, and now work at McDonald's for $9 an hour, now pay over $1.50 a liter for gas, $3 a loaf for bread, $500 a month for hydro, $1000 a month for rent/ mortgage (if they're lucky), isn't going to art school, or hockey, because his parents simply don't have the will? And they say Liberals are elitists?
  19. A lot of people already have voted for him. Not MOST Canadians however, which is what irks me And way to compare A-Stan to WW2, because they are obviously the same situation. Should we also be in Iraq then? Yes, the Canadian public does know, and does not want to be involved. I think we can all safely say that the Harper train is very lucky that the left is so split. And before anyone jumps all over me as a 'Liberal' which by the way is NOT an evil term, I have not yet decided where to place my vote
  20. Am I to understand that you agree then? In fact, should we not also eliminate the useless concept of citizenship as well? In fact, using the logic used for the elimination of gun control, why not eliminate all ID, licensing, citizenship, education, etc. I mean, criminals find ways to circumvent all of these.
  21. Ahh yes, but the same people trying to legalize or loosen restrictions on one, are trying to obliterate the other. Yet many of the arguments they use are easily applied to both.
  22. Also, is anyone going to answer the whole discrepancy between why drugs should be banned, but guns shouldn't? I'm really curious...
  23. I totally understand where you are coming from. Here in Ontario, I have to pay $125 to get my G1, and then another $75 when I take my G2. On top of that, I pay $37 for my sticker for my car, and $20 for the plates. Meanwhile, there is people out there driving illegally all the time!! They don't pay these fees, so why should I? It just makes it harder for law abiding citizens to drive.....
