I believe in gun control and limiting what types of guns can be bought BUT I own 2 rifles for hunting and a 9mm that is in a safe spot in my home to defend my family if someone ever got in while we are home. And I am thankful it is there. But I have never have ANY criminal convictions, I am a level headed family/businessman (go ahead and take the cheap shot) so I am not the threat to go use my guns in an unsafe or irrational manner. But back to the pot and ho's arguements guys. Legalize pot and it is an easy stepping stone to say: " Well you legalized marijuana because it is a plant and it does not hurt anyone, so cocaine comes from a plant and I inhale it and I do not hurt anyone", then next " heroine is sure taken with a needle but I do it in a safe manner and I dispose of the old needle safely thus I hurt no one so legalize it." and so on. You say no one would make that arguement?? It is human nature to always push against the boundry that is set for you. IT WILL HAPPEN!!

I don't mind a reasonable amount of welfare for deserving people but FULL WELFARE for fulltime activists that all they do is go around and help on picket lines, chain themselves to trees, lie on the road to stop mining trucks, stand on parliament hill with placards and then drive old VW vans that spew oil with a sign on the side that says SAVE THE ENVIROMENT. I draw the line! There are too many well and able people that just like to sit at home and let the goverment pay them to sit on their butts while me, my employees and my company pay taxes to support thier lazy butts. I see the lines at the welfare offices here in BC, young guys drive up in thier hot cars, park a block or 2 away, then go in to get their cheques or see a social worker. More than likely they make a good living selling drugs to kids in our schools. I have been asked by young guys so many times to spare some change, I ALWAYS offer them a job at my company (I can always use another janitor,manual labourer or gopher somewhere) and offer them $15/hr. TO THIS DAY, NO ONE HAS EVER TAKE ME UP ON IT!! They know it is too easy to collect elfare, panhandle on a corner, be a sign kid at a street corner and make a $100 or more in a few hours. Then go sit on their butts in front of a tv in a house they share with 2-3 other young people that do the same thing.

HOLY CRAP people how many times does this have to be said, THE LAW WAS NOT BROKEN!! The current minority government was not working!!! The only reason the NDP, BQ and Liberals all helped to pass the one "Fixed Term Law" was because it as in thier best interests. They did not read the fine print (short sighted thinking on thier part), they thought they could stall government, frustrate the ruling party,stop anything from happening for 4 years and thus make it easier for someone else to get into power. WELL IT BACKFIRED, there as a clause that allowed early exit if the opposition all acted like little 4 year olds and did exactly what they did. If you want to continue whining about the law take it to the NDP or Liberal forums. They are like a whine & cheese festival right now about that same issue. I hope the courts punishes that group and makes them pay all the court costs for even trying to bring it forward. (Then makes them serve community time; ON THE ELECTION TABLES, LOL!!!)

Hey if the politicians really want to do something for mankind they should eliminate or make illegal all the chemicals that are clearly killing us slowly. Cigarettes, aspertame, MSG, etc. No I am not a whacko GREEN candidate, just throwing this out if they are going to start taxing anything that effects the enviroment then they should eliminate things that kill us too it stands to reason.

GOOD, then maybe one day a goverment body will have the big brass balls to do this, why they ignore the fact that there are 26 chemicals added to cigarettes that are illegal for the commom person to buy and if you put the same consentration of those chemicals in a teaspoon that are from the cigarettes in 1 pack and then swallowed it YOU WOULD DIE IN 5-10 MINUTES!!! Why would anyone want to smoke that??? (Remember I was a smoker for many years!) And I see parents of small children forcing their kids to endure a ride with mom or dad in the car and the child has no say about what is being forced into their body, I BELIEVE THAT should be illegal and seriously cracked down on. WHo cares if the government makes of few bucks on taxing cigarettes, stop it and 10-15 years from now the government would not have to drop billions into the health care system to deal with all the smoking related diseases and health problems related to second hand smoke.

Yes the gas companies are draining our wallets the worst I agree BUT your sarcasm quite frankly sucked. Considering Climate Change is all a bunch of BS becasue it is not us doing it BUT the SUN!!! That is why Mars, Mercury and Jupiter are having the same issues. So in short I AGREE we need to be good stewards of our planet. (All my corporate offices recycle, I buy recycled paper and even some recycled plastic products like Staples line of recycled office supplies like staplers, pens, etc. I believe in being "Eco-friendly" BUT to tax us permanently because supposedly we are causing CLIMATE CHANGE what BS!!!! And if you think all the big multi-national companies are paying the bulk of the Carbon Tax you are wrong! That gets off loaded onto the shoulders of the consumers and the common tax payer, the corporations have loop holes and tax accountants to avoid that. I know because I have one for my company and he will be put hard at work to save my firm as much as possible and yes my clients will end up paying more in the end. Any tax because of the "CLIMATE CHANGE" or "ECO-FRIENDLY" is just a disguise for the governments hand in our wallet pocket!!! COnservative idea or not IT SUCKS!!!!

The fringes get too much attention in this country as I said in another post when was the last time you saw a Hetrosexual Parade and people flaunting their hetrosexuality to get attention? Yes I can write some of it off on my business taxes but I would do it even if I could not. I trust any government (even the Conservatives!) to sell "recreational drugs" in a safe, organized manner as much as I would trust a chimpanzee with a loaded machine gun in an elevator. It'll gonna kill many and hurt even more.

Regarding point 1, yes you are if your kids are like that and you were or are a single mom. GOOD for you, you probably don't hear that enough, I do not envy your situation but it sounds like you have done well with what you were handed. Point 2) I educate my kids well, my Mom is an RN and I let her talk to the kids about alchol, drugs and smoking. A family friend is a doctor, he has had the same input into thier lives. My wife and I talk to them regularly on all these things too. The kids know I HAD a drinking problem when I was in my late teens but also know now Daddy never has more than 1 drink in a 6 hour time frame, he regularly says no to even one. The know what moderation means and why getting drunk even once is a bad road to go down. My wife does not drink but supports me that I have recovered and have the self control to drink the little I do. (I maybe have 3 drinks a month, if even that sometimes.) I have not blindly hid my children behind a wall and sheltered them from this world. They have been educated in truth about the all those things and more. My wife and I are preparing them to be able to make the right decisions for them with all the information at hand, not just the information from their peers at school. "Put the right stuff into them and they will most likely grow into amazing positive people that contribute to society" that's my child parenting moto. Time will tell.

You have NO IDEA what you are talking about boys. And "firing folks for the fun of it", you have no idea what I had to put up with, most employers would have sent their butts out the door way sooner. I tend to be a second chance kind of boss and sometimes that bites me in the butt. I speak and voice my opinions hard on yes very Conservative slanted to let you use your brain and think. To get you to take off your Liberal glasses and use that brain in that head of yours. I don't just have a branch in Toronto, I have many branch offices outside of the WESTside of Canada, East of Winterpeg. I am respected, trusted and appreciated by most of my employees. I care about them and their families, I put my wallet where my mouth is in this area some choose to abuse it and that I have no tolerance for. My wife calls me a corporate Redneck at times, yes I bleed Western Canada because this is my home and I love it here. Oh, and you can fire away because after all these years of being this way I have come up against alot of people that don't see eye to eye with me and they can rip me a new one but guess what, I do not hold a grudge, I take their criticisim and see if there are any valid points and then move on from there. There needs to be real consequences for criminal actions or the youth of today will continue to get worse. 20 years ago murders by kids under 15 were very minimal, not today, the numbers have gone I believe 545% higher in that time. Video games , TV portray the criminals as good guys almost and show no consequences, the parents babysit their kids with TV's and video games so they are getting a slanted moral value system and being desensatized to the violence. They have no idea that when they hit BOBBY over the head with a bat, HE WILL NOT RESPAWN in 15 seconds. Show them there are consequences for actions, they must be respnsible for what they do. This will cut crime down. Countries that have stiff penalties or capital punishment do have lower crime rates (by percentage) than their neighbouring countries. BUT you must also provide a safe place for these 14 year olds to go so they do not end up being the prison girlfriend for all the older prisoners. You do have some responsibility to the criminals for thier safety and then re-educating them so they can be productive members of society.

NEVER but I know a lot of Liberal , NDP and Green supporters are so I am here to remind them of the crap we got from the Liberals, the lack of experience in the NDP and Green. Conservative party is rolling to do good after the election, are you there to help it happen or be like the Liberals in Parliament and be a road block just like a stubborn 3 year old holding his breath to get his way. (By the way a 3 year old should not get the keys to your Corvette because he wants them and holds his breath until you cave in.)

Like on welfare payments and more $1/2 million dollar modern art sculptures that look like a 10 year old get loose with a welder and a blow torch, or maybe on more studies to prove how cows farting cause way more greenhouse gases than a car, or more raise for the politicians? That is what the Liberals, NDP and Green Party would do. I believe Harper called the election because he wants to get rid of the frustrating "loyal Opposition" having a strangle hold by bribing the ruling government to do what the Loyal opposition wants if they want any votes for the items that would really help the country. Then the Liberals, NDP and BQ go back on thier word and abstain from a vote or still vote against what they promised to support after they already got what they wanted from the Conservatives. Parliamental voting blackmail and back stabbing. The Liberals are just peeing into the punch bowl even when it is in their best interests just to make the Conservatives look bad that they can get nothing done. How can anyone fault Harper for wanting to change that situation to get a majority government so he can do some real good for the country and stop the blackmail.

It is a long known and proven fact that cutting taxes to corporations spurs on the economy and more hiring (less unemployment) thus more people making money, paying personal taxes, service taxes and sales taxes. In the long run you make more tax revenue back from the employees and the money the company pays for support equipment, desks, PC's, tools, buildings than they would have made from the taxes that they cut from the corporations. And more people are working and the economy is growing and strong. Tax the businesses, they cut costs, lay off people, less personal tax, less sales tax on new cars, furniture form employees because they are all afraid they are the next to be laid off or the ones that were already and they are unemployeed. Thus the economy goes in a downward spiral inot the toilet. Study your history.

Actually my company would probably from what my analysts say benefit from the Carbon Tax but I am against it because it is another tax that will just go into general revenue and be justification for more spending and Liberal members of parliament raises. Remember the piracy tax on CD's in this country?? Not 1 recording artist has seen ANY of that promised revenue from the government because the Liberals ear marked it for elsewhere and Harper is still trying to figure out how to back that off so it goes to the recording artists. What next a tax for breathing out carbon monoxide. We will all walk around with masks that register how mush carbon monoxide we breathe out.
