Caledonia Needs Your Help
Ontario Loyalist replied to Caledonia's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Oh, so it wasn't "Lovelace vs. Ontario" after all... -
Um, in post #3 there is a "quote box" which has this header: "QUOTE(Ontario Loyalist @ Jan 5 2009, 10:57 PM)" [emphasis mine] Please stop being obnoxious...

You just don't get it, do you? Also, if you're so concerned about Israel, feel free to remove yourself to that country. Resorting to pointing out spelling inconsencies is really a lame tactic, an act of desperation, really. In terms of "colours"--you do know that this is a CANADIAN political message board, and that most people here are from CANADA. It's bad enough that you have a stronger allegiance to a foreign country, but that you jave to come on here and be a typical American...

This is such a disingenuous misrepresentation of Christianity, I think perhaps you should take White Door's advice... -
Hmmmm... I believe you're misquoting me...

Of course they want war, they want Israel to invade and make them all martyrs and to piss off the rest of the Muslim war and in an effort to trigger an all-out showdown with Israel. And Israel is all too happy to oblidge. Sure 6,000 rockets is not good, but they caused on FOUR deaths. In return, Israel has gone and killed several thousand people, and these dead people are being filmed and shown of Arab television (unlike in the West, where such things are censored) and this is only fueling further hatred. Violence begets violence, and this "incursion" will only lead to more rocket attacks and suicide bombings in the future, or perhaps something WORSE...

Well, DUH... but why????? If Jews and Arabs lived peacefully side-by-side in Palestine for centuries as some here have claimed, why would an organization like Hamas come about in the 1980s after the Arabs had been driven from their land, ghettoized, and living in conditions that would revolt you if you lived in them? Geez, I wonder... It's human nature for people to get pissed off at the people they feel are making life miserable for them, so yeah, it's because of hatred, but the hated ones just happen to be Jews. It seems to me that certain people don't want to hold Jews to the same standard simply because they're Jews. I just don't see how that solves anything.

Um Israel has been led for much of its existance by the Likud party, and what exactly are its roots...? When are people like you going to realize that nobody is right in this?
-
Nobody here--except, perhaps, "tango"--is an "apologist" for Hamas or supports terrorism in general; people are just being a little more objective, and I think if hundreds of innocent Israel civilians were to be killed, there would be an equal amount of concern and indignation at the perpetrators. Again, you're true colours are really starting to show through, and the hypocracy is sickening.

True or false. People become terrorists when they are happy, free, and content with their lives and the political status of where they live? You do know that Jews resorted to terrorism in order to force the creation of the state of Israel, so if you really are so concerned about terrorism you should be questioning the tactics of organizations like Irgun and be critical of the fact that this organization lives on as the Likud and Kadima political parties. There is not "right side" in this situation, and until people like you cease thinking the way that you do (they exist on both sides) this problem will never be resolved... Of course another option would be for everyone to become sincere followers of Christ... Matthew 5:21-22

I think "best analogy" does not mean exact same situation, but there is a certain amount of similarity to warrant the comparison.

So in other words, you have no clue what you're talking about and are simplying repeating what you read in the papers and/or what your SN handlers tell you... If there was a case called Lovelace v. Ontario then there would be some sort of reference to it in 2008 on the SCC website, but there is not--the only one dates from 2000. The case that I have indicated, and posted a case summary for, does correspond with your garbled ramblings about "injunctions". If this is not the case, then cite the PROPER designation for the case you think you're referring to. -
Are you suggesting that the Nazis were Christians?!?!?!?! I can't be bothered being banned for elucidating just how nonsensical that assertion is, but I will say that ones again your narrow-minded biases have been revealed once again. I wish one day you would come to realize the hypocracy with which you view the world, how clouded you perception of reality is by your delusion of being special ("chosen") and righteous simply by virtue of being born a Jew. I think the best analogy between Gaza and European Jews is actually the Warsaw Ghetto uprising, not what happened after the war (in Europe, at least).
-
Well, according to fascism think, Communism is a great evil, and there were certainly a number of Jews involved in the Communist movement in Germany, not to mention the rest of Europe. So, relatively speaking, many Jews were engaged in activities that were deemed highly subversive.

Cite the case PROPERLY, such as this: Lovelace v. Ontario, 2000 SCC 37, [2000] 1 S.C.R. 950 The case that you are referring to has a specific designation that should distinguish it from the one above, but I highly doubt that it is also referred to as "Lovelace v. Ontario"; unless you care to clarify, I have to assume that it IS this case: Frontenac Ventures Corporation v. Ardoch Algonquin First Nation, Robert Lovelace, Paula Sherman and Her Majesty the Queen in Right of Ontario - and - Native Women’s Association of Canada (Ont.) (Civil) (By Leave) I think I'll pass on accepting your "legal interpretation" of the case, but I'll keep your words in mind the next time SN violently tries to break up a peaceful protest by residents of Calednia... you're selective appreciation of the law is most hypocritical... -

Is this the case you're refering to? Frontenac Ventures Corporation v. Ardoch Algonquin First Nation, Robert Lovelace, Paula Sherman and Her Majesty the Queen in Right of Ontario - and - Native Women’s Association of Canada How you managed to abbreviate it to Lovlace v. Ontario is beyond me... Perhaps in the future you should cite court cases properly, so people know exactly what you're referring to... -

No, civil disobedience is not a "democratic right"--it is something that is permitted to exist to a certain degree in free, modern western societies and is NOT the same as people interpreting laws on an individual basis as best suits them... -

No guff, but it's NOT for the individual to decide that they don't want to agree with a law because it doesn't suit them, which is what you are arguing. -

Click on the respective province, and there should be a section for historical parties for each province, and go from there: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_polit...rties_in_Canada -
Um, a terrorist attack is a terrorist attack, and a terrorist organization is a terrorist organization.

The Anti-Immigration Sentiment
Ontario Loyalist replied to trooper's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Everybody likes to live in a society where they feel comfortable, safe, and part of a community, and whenever there is a large influx of people, then there is bound to be problems. One of the problems is that the people who are immigrating tend to want to maintain part or much of their identity and view Canada as a place where they should be able to continue living as though in their homeland, while benefiting from Canada's relative wealth and prosperity. That's not exactly a recipe for a strong and unified country. As per above, and also it needs to be recognized that NO, most do NOT "usually" speak good English. Do you live in an area where there is a significant immigration community? Do you repeatedly have to deal with people who cannot understand what you are saying? Now when you say they are paid lower wages, do you mean for the exact same job or because they have to work more meanial jobs? The former is illegal, the latter should be expected because that's how it has usually been for immigrants, even way back when they were mostly all European. Whatever the case, many of these immigrants are allowed in because of their money, and that means that even if they can't find high paying jobs they aren't exactly struggling to get by. -
Well, one person's terrorist is another person's freedom fighter, I suppose... one always needs to keep in mind that the United States was created in part due to what the British viewed as terrorist activities. The same goes for Israel; Jewish terrorist groups were active in Palestine long before 1948...
