  1. It's not for the individual, or a group of individuals, to take it upon themselves to interpret the law. If everybody did that, there would be no rule of law at all... (and before you start thinking that's would be a good thing, the rule of law is the only thing keeping SN in existance). You might actually want to read the actual case you cite before you misuse it as a reference: http://csc.lexum.umontreal.ca/en/2000/2000.../2000scc37.html
  2. You have no clue how the law functions, do you? Aside from your subjective encounters with it, that is...
  3. Facts 101: Stating that SN is the centre of an auto-theft ring is NOT implying that the "whole community... is involved"... The are NOT 24,000 people living on SN; about half of people who claim to be SN do not live on the reserve. The figure of 24,000, I believe, is arbitrary since SN apparently doesn't want to cooperate with Stats-Can during Census time. Well, yes in fact, you ARE RIGHT, my community does have an auto-theft ring, and it has been identified as originating out of SIX NATIONS. Of course there's crime elsewhere, and it's perpetrated by all sorts of people, but that doesn't change the fact that SN is the hub of a variety of organized criminal activities. Go view the petition for yourself...
  4. The analogy between France and Israel is useless. The French are not a race-cum-religion, for one thing...
  5. Nobody who knows anything about warfare would suggest that avoiding civilian casualties in this kind of situation is "quite easy". But whatever the case, I think we know enough nowadays about radicalization of populations to know that people who are content and live in free and prosperous conditions tend not to vent their frustrations through radical politics. There are causes to situations like this, but people don't want to address them or rectify them, and when this is the case, then people turn to more militant means of conflict resolution. Whatever the case, I hope that everyone (that includes jbq) will agree that the children are innocent victims in all of this.
  6. Honestly, your outlook is so warped by your bias that I think you have no clue what the world wants. Must everybody include a disclaimer to remind people like you just because they don't agree with Israel's tactics or are against the killing of innocent people (children) that they don't agree or side with terrorist organizations? Both sides in this issue are WRONG, but you just can't get over your warped bias and crass hypocracy. Sure, Israel has a right to defend itself, and people who are concerned about human rights have the right to voice criticism when there are human rights violations. That's all part of being a grown up nation, so stop being whining hypocrite about it; typical lefty, though, always this dance between equality and special rights...
  7. Well, these people learned terrorist tactics from the British--the same place Jews learned them, and used them as part as the campaign to force the creation of a Jewish state. Anyway you want to look at it, Jews did (and still do) use terrorist tactics to push their agenda.
  8. So what? It's an American city. The people who reside there are Americans (supposedly). And are you suggesting that Jews who live outside of Israel actually dual-allegiance (or, perhaps, non-allegiance to the country of residence)???
  9. I'm not sure how it's racist to point out the fact that SN is the center of an auto-theft ring. The police have been dealing with this problem for quite some time, and recently an officer was almost killed by a fleeing auto-thief known to be from SN. If members of SN were all peaceful, hardworking people who committed no crimes then there would be no reason for complaint. But these people wilfully engage in these activities and bring upon themselves a bad reputation.
  10. Yeah, and I've heard that the largest employer on SN is a huge auto-theft ring that employs kids to steal cars at about $1000 a pop.
  11. Ah, yes, even the mayor of New York feels that he has to go over to Israel as a show of support. since when is a mayor of a major city supposed to serve as ambassador for an ethnic/religious group?
  12. Yeah, better watch what you say... my guess is that some of the people here are keeping tabs for the CJC so they can take you to court and have you deported when you're 85 years-old...
  13. Yeah, but where in the OT does it state that Israel has to be a "western-style" democracy beholden to the rule of law and not to GOD? At what point are you going to realize that GOD no longer favours the Jews, and that this began a long time ago? The justification for occupying the land that consists of Israel is really a sham, isn't it? Judges 2: 11-15 11-13The LORD had brought their ancestors out of Egypt, and they had worshiped him. But now the Israelites stopped worshiping the LORD and worshiped the idols of Baal and Astarte, as well as the idols of other gods from nearby nations. 14-15The LORD was so angry at the Israelites that he let other nations raid Israel and steal their crops and other possessions. Enemies were everywhere, and the LORD always let them defeat Israel in battle. The LORD had warned Israel he would do this, and now the Israelites were miserable.
  14. Uh, no, I'm saying that post-colonialism created a whole mess that includes Israel. It's funny how you refer to Israel as "western" because that's exactly NOT what it is. It's a Middle Eastern country with Middle Eastern cultural problems. It's also kind of odd how Israel finds justification for its existance both in terms of its archaic tribal past and "western democratic" form of government. Whatever argument suits the moment, I guess...
  15. Yeah, it's the result of the same post-colonial mentality that gave rise to Israel, so...
  16. No, I like my imperialism to be clothed and civilized...
  17. how insufferably inane... I wouldn't even expect something to half-baked from an American...
  18. My reading of the OT leads me to believe that GOD alone was responsible for the Hebrews defeating their enemies, and often times the Hebrews became apathetic towards GOD and started adopting pagan practices and engaging in a whole bunch of debaucheries themselves... so it's really a stupid argument, and the fact that you would refer to the non-Hebrews of the time as little more than animals seems like you've been reading more of Mein Kampf than the OT...
  19. Er, wrong... btw, the moon's not made out of cheese either...
  20. Well, I don't give a flying fuck... when a people "were created" doesn't entitle them to land that they LOST over 2000 years ago...
  21. Well, I hope you're not equating Israel vanishing with the Jews being exterminated, which is what I think you are alluding to... simply put, the creation of the state of Israel in 1948 was a mistake, born out of issues resulting from WWII and with no real concern for the consequences--ie. the suffering of millions of people, both Arab and Jew. It's created tensions and conflicts that need not have happened had a more conciliatory approach been taken. So the Arabs would be at each others' throats, would they? Were they before 1948? It also seems a strange thing to say considering Israel was founded in part as a result of a war...
  22. Why do you think that they are less entitled to land than Israel is. Israel was, after all, created in 1948...
  23. Well, no because if you walk past any synogogue in this country every once and awhile you'll see large placards with appeals for money to support the state of Israel, and all that money would then go to buying arms from whomever is willing to sell, and there will always be people (countries) willing to sell weapons. Always.
