So if Canada were to seperate from the West, what would become of it and what would they refer to themselves as????
-
The loss of auto manufacturing jobs will have more of a negative impact on you than it does me. Ontario is still the financial and economic heart of Canada.
-
Yeah, and what are the chances that our new member is actually a diehard Westerner trying to bait members like you... unlike me, who is sincerely an Ontariocentric Real Canadian who can't stand the West...
-
You should pay a little more attention to the real world: the alberta economy is by no means immune from the current economic crisis, especially considering that oil/gas and agriculture are the key aspects of your economy...

I think we need to go back to a more logical conception of Canada that includes the original founding members (as well as PEI and Newfoundland if they so desire)--the West has clearly chosen to taken on the role of aggitator and destabilizer, and this has gone on for much too long. Harper is just the latest in a succession of Western leaders who has sought to undermine Canada by provoking Quebec and demeaning Ontario and the Maritimes. If it were decided that Canada would henceforth encapsulate only those provinces EAST of the Ontario/Manitoba border, I certainly would have no problem with it.

Senate reform is such a non-issue. It's fine the way it is.

A lot of problems would be solved if Alberta did seperate, though....

Why have Israelifascists overtaken this board?!

I wouldn't go so far as to consider them Christians... -

Try giving a straight and honest answer about who holds high ranking positions in the American government... Is the system that is now in place allow for the most "capable intelligent people" to fill those positions; if not, then why is there a disproportionate number of Jews filling those positions? And is there some connection here with the fact that there are so few women and visibile minorities filling these positions? -
What if we agreed to re-locate Israel?
Ontario Loyalist replied to JerrySeinfeld's topic in The Rest of the World
So what's with this proclivity to post inane, out-of-context quatations? How exactly does that prove that Jews weren't involved in persections prior to WWII? If I were to post a quote about Soviet barbarities to German civilians in 1945, would that be sufficient to disprove and make completely laughable and absurd what Germans did in the Soviet Union between 1941 and 1944. Hardly. You're hopelessly naive and ignorant about what life was really like in eastern Europe before WWII. You see everything from the perspective of what happened between 1939-1945, but fail to realize that it had its origins in events that took place over preceeding centuries and which you know nothing about. There's no denying that what the Nazis did was wrong, but just because they did what they did doesn't mean that we should ignore certain aspects of pre-WWII European history, which does include (local) persecutions of Christians by Jews, and a general partern of localized persecution of ethnic Germans by Poles, Russians, etc. -

Relatively speaking, that would be a quite significant number; far exceeding what happened to the Jews during the Holocaust... Oh, but you'll deny that, right. So were talking a 35 year period, which is more than enough time to undertake a systemic persecution of Christians; after, Christians would have been subjected to persecution wherever Judaism was still the dominant culture (or where they aligned with the current political ideology), which includes parts of eastern Europe and southern Russia up until the early 20th century. -

So why exactly are you using quotation marks when you use the word persecutions, and why are you trying to suggest that the persecution of early Christians by Jews is somehow less significant than the Holocaust? It was persecution in its own right and has to be recognized and acknowledged as such. Using your line of reasoning, wouldn't that call into question the "scope" of the Holocaust since in relation to other modern instances of mass extermination, it is not the largest. There isn't even any real evidence to suggest how many people died during the Holocaust; the figure I believe is based on estimates made by high ranking Nazis, men who otherwise wouldn't be given an ounce of credibility. The lack of any significant or reliable documentation of actual figures, using M.Dancer's "logic," would have to lead one to conclude that the Holocaust wasn't as bad as has it has been made out to be. So I guess that make M.Dancer a denier of the persecution of early Christians, along the lines of Holocaust deniers and revisionist historians. Interesting. And I guess you too, then? -
Oh, yeah, whatever; that's why Serbs and Croats are still at each others' throats, tensions exist and are being stoked amongst Jews and Muslims. They all come here to continue their Old World ways and exist in "communities" amongst themselves...

I suppose one of these days something like this is going to happen in Canada.

Of course, but you have to admit that when ou talk about the people in "every [other] group" it doesn't contitute an "anti-" something. Holding Jews to the same standard as everybody else somehow consists of some "hate" motivation. -

So if the UN gave the Indians in BC the right to a nation, and you happened to be living within the newly created state, and they told you to get out, you would happily leave, right? -

Just answer the question. -

Sorry, I forgot: I have to respond with simple sentences for you to understand... You seem to be suggesting that women and visible minorities are not "capable intelligent people" because they constitute a vast minority of high ranking people in the American government. -

So you're saying that Newfoundland didn't become a country in 1907 when it attained the status of Dominion? -

So what happens when the IDF fails to defend Israel--what excuse will you come up with for its existence. Moreover, why do you even care what happens to Israel? What makes it any different than scores of other political entities whose existence is threatened by external and internal forces? I suppose I should suggest that you concern yourself more with Canada, but seeing that you are such an ardent supporter of the Conservative party--which is probably Canada's greatest internal threat at the moment--that would be redundant. -

So how does Spain suddenly come to represent all of Western Europe? Still, I'm interested in the theory that you seem to be implying: there was an expulsion of Jews from Western Europe, and subsequently Western Europe became the dominant region in Europe, not to mention the world. Are you suggesting that there is a connection here? Instead of getting all huffy and sarcastic, why don't you just discuss the issue in a rational, measured manner? -

right..so from 1934.... It remained a Dominion. Just admit it: you were wrong. As it states the quotation you provide, Newfoundland became a country in 1907. That said, I don't even know why I care or waste my time with your laughable historical ignorance. -

Absurd excuse. Is that what they teach you to respond with down at the synogogue? Absurd question. -

Wrong. It was a Dominion, just like Canada was at one point, from 1907 to 1949--self-governing from 1907 to 1934... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dominion_of_Newfoundland One could argue that it was, however, a "nation" in race and sentiment long before it became a Dominion...
