Stop, you're making me blush. Gosh, I love this place. A proud pinnacle of integrity and honor! -
If the Liberals win the next Election...

*ouch* no need to get patronizing No I think, those who are into politics realize that "absolute power corrupts absolutely" and that government will always include corruption. I think we in the West just want a fair say in how much corruption we will tolerate. Right now we really have no say. Confederation does not work. Hyperbole, Give me a break. -

Oh we're insulted. Albertans take it personally, as an affront to the West. -

Takeanumber, you are the quintessential Liberal. Attack then run and garner sympathy by making yourself out to be the victim. The complete distortion, and equivocation, of the meaning of the other side's arguments fits perfectly as well. -

I think we're seeing a little bit of a pattern here on Maple Leaf Web. I bunch of bitter liberal Albertans coming here to spew. We have you, Black Dog, Sweal. Any other lefties willing to admit they're Albertan. I love you guys! Just as I suspected, it's you guys who keep voting in our liberal, tax and spend mayor and city council. I just love it when you make comments like this. What was the last one... something like "I'm pretty moderate"?. Just like Ceasar, "I'm a centerist". Hey did I ever tell you how moderate I am? In fact I can't decide whether to join the libs or the cons. (I do like PM He's like an evil version of Bob Newhart, except fatter.) No I wouldn't say mocked, I'd say hated. Being a Liberal in the maritimes, is pretty understandible. But a Liberal in Alberta.... it's like the ultimate treason. It's like siding with the enemy, an enemy who wants to destroy Alberta. This kind of reminds me of the Fifth Estate interview of Stuart Smally where he tears up and says "I've done 5 USO tours". -

You are such a sophist. Shawinigate= Corruption, HRDC= Boondoggle, Gun Registry=Boondoggle, Sponsorship=Corruption, conspiracy to buy 5 politicians= Corruption. I gotta hand it to you guys, you are very tolerant (except of course of anyone else's views). -
Peter MacKay's broken heart
I miss Reagan replied to The Terrible Sweal's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I think it was genuine, but you're right it would be a good strategic move. Nothing like a good victim of a rich and powerful individual to tug at the heart strings of bleeding heart Canadians. The problem lies in the fact that she's now a Liberal, and can do no wrong in the eyes of Ontarians. -

Nevermind, perfectly cavillous response. -

Awsome. Just bring on the election now. There's nothing I'd like to see more right now than a Liberal win with a solid Bloc landslide in Quebec. -

What no response? I expected at least some sort of cavillous response to deflect the issue. In other words: "bend over and take what we give you". That always seems to be the response from Ontario. It reminds me of Ford and GMC's business plan in the 80's and 90's: basically, 'buy what we want you to buy, our big, unreliable, gas guzzleing vehicles.' It hasn't worked too well for them. Similarly Alberta and Quebec isn't buying what you Ontario Libs are selling, or should I say ramming down our throats. True, confederation does not work. It's an impossible situation. The sooner Canadians realize this, the better off we'll all be. -
Oh clearly. August is right, you guys need to open your eyes. Hate the Conservatives all you want but don't be so blindly loyal. It's embarrasing. If this were anywhere else the people would be in revolt. The Liberal Party is corrupt. Be balanced. Hell I'm one of the most partisan guys around and I can even recognize when too much power has corrupted my party. This is why I now oppose the Klien government, and they are nothing compared to the Federal Libs.

The Balkanization of Canada
I miss Reagan replied to fellowtraveller's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
There's a great book called "The Coming Anarchy" by Robert Kaplan. He's an expert on Eastern Europe studies. In his book he predicts the breakup of Canada. He has a pessimistic view of the world, but it's a great book. -
The Libs are good at what they do, there's no doubt about that. I am convinced that these guys are evil. They opperate by ignoring democracy, hand picking candidates, engaging in money laundering and theft, and most recently buying people with money and power. Of course they deny it but we all knew they were doing it when Inky Mark came forward. It's totally obvious that 'Benedict Arnold' Belinda was bought. Now Germant Grewal has a tape to prove that Ujjal Dosanjh tried to buy he and his wife's vote by offering him either a diplomatic position or a position in the Senate. Russia appears even more democratic than Canada right now. I'd be embarassed.... except no one really pays attention to us. Banana Republic

Hey does anyone have a link to any of Belinda's quotes during her extensive 11 month tenure as a Conservative? I'd like to read some of her hypocritical statements about the Liberals, Martin etc. I've heard tid bits on the radio like about her critisizing Scott Bryson for not "rolling up his sleeves and sticking with the party". I've heard some as recently as the past couple of weeks where she has critisized Martin.

I feel tingly all over. Let's sing koombya together and that'll make all the theft, lying, and bigotry go away. LOL I'm so sure. Maybe France will come help you out too. For some reason I hear this with a Russian/ Stalinist accent or maybe a German Nazi accent NO SOUP FOR YOU!! Let's start with the abhorant display of diplomacy by the Liberals in the case of mad cow. (Oh ya Belinda.ca spearheaded that lawsuit in the states, because according to her the Liberals weren't doing anything.) There isn't enough bandwidth to list all the examples. Let's start with the most loved Prime Minister of all time giving the West the finger. And how about his lovely little slogan "SCREW THE WEST WE'LL TAKE THE REST". Then there's Chretien's little inside comment when discussing the effects of Kyoto: "Why should I do anything for them (the West), they never vote for me anyway." Or how about the '97 commentary on Parliament Hill painting Albertans as racist. Or how about Ian Hanimansing declaring how difficult it would be to live in Calgary as an interracial couple. Or how about the constant name calling by elites in Ontario calling us "rednecks" or "hillbillies". Or just look over at some of the current threads on this forum. The face that you even try to deny this is laughable. -
pffft. ya sexist
-
Did anyone see Ann McLellan's soapbox oration today on sexism then immediately afterwards exclaim "she sure does have great shoes". I guess it doesn't work both ways does it.

Hey how about sticking to one thread rather than cluttering up the forum with duplicate topics. -
What exactly do I not get? I didn't read the entire conversation, I just saw your pompous post and thought I'd point out that I get a chuckle at your gimmick. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The problem is we out West haven't yet learned our place. You see we need to learn who our rightful superiors are. We are here to serve them you see.

If the Liberals win the next Election...
I miss Reagan replied to Dan's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Welcome Dan! Trust me you'll get plenty of inspiration for separation, on this forum. I hope the Libs win again for this reason alone, to light a fire under Alberta. And I too have heard the 'S' word from unlikely sources. Interestingly I was listening on the radio the other day to an "expert" who claimed that all Alberta Separation needed was a reputable leader and it'd be off an running. Vive Alberta libre!!! -
Ya it's probably not the classiest word to use. But tell me this, is it wrong to betray your supporters by jumping ship, especially when taken in the context of a system where people, more often than not, are voting for the party rather than the individual and at a time when one vote in that party is crucial. And I would note that it wasn't just people in her own riding that supported her both fiscally and emotionally. Many people across the country campaigned for her and fought for on the basis of being a Conservative. And tell me how and why some petty name calling from a few no-name Conservatives is bigger news than her actual defection?
