  1. at NIGHT The American chose to do what they did, while the British did what they felt was best. Railroad infrastructure tends to pass through cities, where railyards and the like can also be found. The RAF tended to target cities, so draw your own conclusions. Whatever the case, rail lines were kept open through much of the war despite allied attempts to do otherwise.
  2. American entered the war in 1941, not in 1939 when it began.
  3. Please don't accuse people about not knowing what they're talking about if you make these kinds of comments. The RAF only engaged in daylight bombing very early and late in the war and all of their strategic bombers were designed for night ops; sending them deep into Europe, even in mid-1944, wouldn't have been a bright idea.
  4. Railroads were targeted before and they were always repaired--by POWs and other slave labour. People talk about it as though it would have been a permanent solution, which it wouldn't have been. In the end, when the Germans began evacuating some POW and concentration camps and moving inmates around, they walked them through the countryside and back roads, killed the ones who couldn't keep up. There would have been minimal interference with the movement of supplies and troops.
  5. No, it wasn't directed to another forum member, which is what I thought Rue was referring to in the first place. IDIOT in reference to GWB is a statement of fact, not an insult.
  6. Personally, I don't think that it's appropriate for homosexuals to be in the teaching profession or in any position of authority over children, for that matter. It's not going to happen with my children, regardless of what anyone says, because I know that it's not in their best interest to be influenced by people who have an outlook on life that is contrary to what children need in order to be raised properly. Looking back at my educational experiences, and teachers that I had or knew about in my schools: the homosexuals, the ones engaging in extra-marital affairs, the perverts (one now convicted), the substance abusers, the mentally ill, the anti-Christians and adherents to pessimistic worldviews... I really could have done without that. I did have a few good teachers, but in the end the public school system is a real mess; I don't want my kids going through that at all.
  7. Isn't this the same line of reasoning many Germans would have used in 1933-45? Deal with perceived enemies any way that is necessary?
  8. Meaning what? He doesn't care for anything aside from his political agenda? Well, yeah. And there are 500,000+ dead Iraqis who "don't count" to testify to that.
  9. There are a lot of could have and should haves about how the allies prosecuted the war. Everybody seems to like to play armchair Supreme Commander and they all have the right strategy figured out given what we now know with hindsight. The fact of the matter is that the best way to end ALL of the killing was to end the war as quickly as possible. That's what the allies tried to do. They may not have been perfect at doing it, but that's how it goes with war. These kinds of critiques of the Allied war effort really is an insult to all of those millions of men who fought and died to defeat the Nazi regime. It's sad that this issue still has to be used for political agendas by certain people. Not to mention the fact that the discussion again excludes mention of all of the other victims.
  10. Where the heck did you learn how to read? Where did I say that they didn't "have the capacity"??? I stated that given the nature of strategic bombing at the time, what people now say should have been done couldn't have been done. If that was the case, then the whole allied bombing campaign wouldn't have occurred the way it did. You send over 50 B-24s to take out the gas chambers and guess what? The entire camp gets blown away. Then what? Or if you actually hit the rail lines, then what would happen? Slave labour would be taken from the camps and the damage repaired. If not, the inmates are moved without being fed to another location where they'll die anyway, and those destined for Auschwitz would be diverted or dealt with otherwise. The death camps were designed to facilitate a more "efficient" means of killing; this doesn't mean that the old method of shooting can't be resorted to. Where did I "call someone an idiot" on this thread?
  11. What a lame response. If you want to voice your concerns about someone like McHale, try doing it in a manner that doesn't make it seem as though you belong on a playground.
  12. As if we didn't need more proof that GWB is an idiot. This is such a non-issue given the nature of strategic bombing at the time, what these people claim should have been done could not have been accomplished. http://news.independent.co.uk/europe/article3331308.ece
  13. So when they're your enemies, then extermination is a proper course of action? That's sad.
  14. Is that your new favorite word: "psychopath"? You know "timmer," what would you consider him to be? What kind of person obsessively involves himself in a cause that is not his, and goes around baiting people and videotaping their responses?
  15. I was under the impression that they were, too, for awhile. The one eventually claimed to be of Irish ancestry, but who knows... The other I suspect was the "timmer" who like to produce all these videos (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzwpvDexwfw) of confrontations that he incites, and it was only until he was exposed elsewhere and I came across a cbc.ca article on an unrelated topic which included his picture that I learned that he was not from Six Nations. As far as I'm concerned, given what I've seen from his videos, here's more abrassive and confrontational than McHale, but nothing is done about it and his name never gets in the papers.
  16. Okay, "attracted" may not be the best way to have put it. You're right, they seem to be "intimately involved," and I would agree that they become "part of the same group," but my impression is that they still have something of a seperate agenda. According to what I've read on the reclamation info message board there are some mebers of Six Nations who are concerned about their participation in the protests. Also, "jennie" used to post links to Communist and Anarchist websites on occasion.
  17. Debated circles around me? Hardly. The guy doesn't know what he's talking about.
  18. Which is why this is such a ridiculously inane non-issue which can only seem to be of significance to certain middling types and unpopular presidents who will use any excuse to seem tough.
  19. I'm neither a "braggart and a fool" so I guess we can add one more to your "sarcastic drivel" list...
  20. I don't recall ever getting my "ass handed to [me]". I think one of the things that I enjoy most about having an intellect is the ability to appreciate things on a level that most others do not. The sad thing about it is that when one has to interact with "others" one has to make certain concessions, just as, for example, a pro hockey player would have to when playing shiney with his kids on the backyard rink. Things are not always what they appear to be, and it would be foolish if those kids would think otherwise.
  21. That would be just about everyone here, I suppose. I would like to remind you, though, that this deliberate watchdog campaign against me is, in my opinion, borderline cyber stalking.
  22. I've made numerous "solidly expressed points" so I'm not sure what you mean.
