Who Would Make The Best PM
Galahad replied to Alliance Fanatic's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Oh shucks! Just after I wasted my vote on Hardner I realized that the author of this poll, Alliance Fanatic, hasn't got any votes as of yet. Would someone be kind enough to cast one his way, please, he's counting on you .... AND YOU .... AND YOU.... AND YOU .... AND YOU .... AND YOU! -
Now if only Super Mario (Mario Dumont) also entered the race we'd have a REAL doozy of a contest.

It's a brand new ball game, now. In defence of Paul Martin, I'm of the opinion that he HASN'T had 10 years to show us what he can do because, being a good soldier, he would never dare not to toe the boss' line. Now that HE is the boss, he can do as he pleases. So who knows what that will be? He could be a regular Atilla the Hun for all we know.
-
Paul Martin will unveil a platform for the next election that will be so damned powerful and promising that Harper and Co. will be hard pressed to put in a word edgewise. Just you wait and see. The only chance for the Conservative Party is to dig up a new leader, one from the outside of their little cocoon.

I bet you that his defence lawyer's argument for not having him tried in Iraq will be that Saddam can't get a fair trial in a country that hates SPAM. And I bet that Saddam's lawyer will also be arguing that he should be tried in some state that loves SPAM. And knowing that Hawaii is the biggest consumer of SPAM in the world, I bet you that he'll demand having him tried in Honolulu. I hear that MacDonald's in Waikiki has already negotiated a contract with Saddam to have his picture over their SPAM meal with him saying "mmm good". Personally, I think Saddam would enjoy being exiled on the island of Oahu.

Well, I think it should be quite the opposite, high rannking politicians should ALWAYS back up their promises by swearing "So help me God". I think it could be quite entertaining to see them trying to weasel out of that one.

Iraq And Al Qaeda - No Links You Say?
Galahad replied to Craig Read's topic in The Rest of the World
Who's that?? I NEED NAMES!!! -
Forgive me for asking, but don't you think that your C$ buys you more in the USA then at home? Wanna compare prices? I'm game if you are!

Nick Robertson took us on a tour of Saddam's spider hole today. In the farmhouse he pointed out how Saddam was living, new packages of underwear still in it's wrapping etc etc , and several tins of SPAM!! He puports to be a direct descendent of Muhammad, had a Koran written entirely in his blood & he eats SPAM!! A PORK PRODUCT!! I guess it goes well with the Mateus Rose & cigars. Bin Laden won't be impressed! Tsk. Tsk.

Saddam Captured: After The Interogation What Then?
Galahad replied to RT_1984's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
"Since I oppose the death penalty Saddam should be imprisoned for life" ... is just about the best line I've come across in this century. I can't wait to throw it around among my Mensa friends. Thanks MC! -

So you think that the US should do exactly WHAT with Pakistan? Invade them & depose Musharraf? Before or after Mugabe? Or Kim Jung Il? A imperialist running dog's work is never done. -

This seems like a made-up quote. It may be a "made up quote", but it wasn't made up by ME. One of CNN's corespondents in Iraq reported it yesterday. It sort of ties in with the reports of high ranking military today that he's behaving like a "smartass". -
VIVE LE US! VIVE LE US !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Saddam Captured: After The Interogation What Then?

Maybe we won't have to do anything with him...maybe he has his own plans. Evidently during interrogation today they asked him if he wanted a glass of water. He replied "No. If I take a glass of water then I will have to use the bathroom. How can I use the bathroom while my people are enslaved?". How long can a guy last without taking a whizz? -

I don't know. All I know is that if his plea was ... "I'M NOT AN ANIMAL I'M A HUMAN BEING" ... I'd forgive him a lot. After all, we make mistakes. -
Paul Chretien, Jean Martin ? Confused ?
Galahad replied to Craig Read's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Amazingly the US manages with only 15 equivalents to our Ministers... with 10 times our population. And for some reason they stay in their positions unless something drastic happens. The US president doesn't just have a cabinet shuffle every time he's in the mood. They realize that there's a learning curve to every position. But we ENJOY re-inventing the wheel. And changing stationary. HRDC has been cut in two...with one part now called "The Ministry of Social Deveopment". Who came up with THAT name...one of Krushchev's old aids? So now our bureaucrats are out to "develop" us socially. Scary. Where's the Virtue & Vice Ministry? Stay tuned. But Martin's going to win in a landslide. This appears to be what our fellow Canadians want. Go figure. -
Don Martin has an excellent article on Benedict Brison in today's NP. It is not in the Nationalpost.com yet but you can see it here (page A18). http://ee.canada.com/Daily/skins/NationalP...W=1071214956734

I agree. But I bet that the dog-civil unionising bill is going to play a big part in this upcoming election.

The whole damn problem started a lot longer back than in poor old Pierre's day. It started with whoever decided to call the legal contract the same name as the religious sacrament... marriage. But, now that it IS called by the name of one of the Christian seven sacraments...why are the religious zealots not all up in arms that heathens, infidels & atheists are partaking of their "sacrament"?? By George! How dare a Hindu or a Bhuddist say that they are "married"?? They're not even baptised & are going straight to purgatory or hell when they die!! The outrage! Personally I think Sigfreid & Roy have embodied the sacrament of marriage, commitment & love a whole lot better than Ben & JLo. But that's just my opinion.

Neal's speculation that ... "He defected, because Paulie Waulie is probably promising him a senior cabinet post" ... is a good one. ANOTHER possibility is that Harper told him to stop being gay. To seek the treatment that many CAers believe in.

On page five is an interesting article that my left-coast edition of the NP doesn't bother covering. It's under the headline "Jewish Montrealers’ saliva to gauge media bias" and it's about how: "Jewish Montrealers are to be monitored to see how stressed they get when reading about the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Professors from Carleton University will swab the mouths of volunteers to see how much of the stress hormone cortizol is present during the experiment." I wish someone had administered that test to me and my uncle, Joe, during one of OUR heated arguments. I bet I'd win.

http://ee.canada.com/Daily/skins/NationalP...W=1071123791015 If you wish to recieve this newspaper free of charge six-days a week you could try asking some official on the forum, preferably one who's familiar with all of the legal aspects of providing this service. I just hope the NP police won't be knocking on MY door tonight.

I think that lots of Cons. are waiting for one of the refusniks i.e. Harris, Klein, Lord to change their mind. I'm still waiting for Manning to weigh in with his opinion. I'LL FOLLOW THE OLD MAN...WHEREVER HE WANTS TO GO I think Manning's top picks would be Klein, Harris, Dumont. Not neccesarily in that order. In which case MY top pics would be; 1) Preston Manning 2) Harris, Klein or Dumont.
