  1. I don't know what the problem is American Woman, it is a legitimate request to get a Canadian opinion on another world leader. Why does this have to include an American opinion? If a thread was started that simply stated what is your viewpoint of Bush then I would expect to see a varied response. When I see a thread that asks what a certain group thinks then I would expect to see a certain group make a response. The reason I say I don't care what an American thinks is because for the most part Americans get exrtremly defensive about subjects touching on their own country. That is to say if you arent from here we don't give a crapo what your opinion is especially if it has to do anything with our politics. Bush-Cheney 2004 has pretty much summed that one up. If there was a thread that discussed Harper and was seeking American input I would respect that. However I doubt that one would exist as Americans seldom care about politics outside their own country.
  2. Actually Christianity wasn't spreading quickly until a few hundred years after Christ's death, it simply existed. I think it is safe to say you aren't going to convince me with your opinions either. I think I will stick to basing my sentiments on research and people who seek the truth, not those who want to stifle intellectual debate.
  3. What a load of crap. I could care less and I 'm fairly sure that is a common sentiment. We simply don't want to be equated with Americans, it has nothing to do with wanting to be loved.
  4. hehe...What kind of endorsements would be available I wonder. Something completly ridiculous.
  5. Ummmm, I meant about Bush. Why do you keep posting? You aren't causing half as many problems as you think you are.
  6. Man, Porn Olympics..what a fantastic idea.
  7. Well, porn Olympics don't count.
  8. Anyways, I wonder what other Canadians think on matter considering we don't really give a crap what Americans think, I don't believ that was the purpose of the post. Trying to tell an American he can't speak though is like an affront to of that's holy.
  9. Right but it is not my conjecture it is based on hundreds of years of scholarly research. I didn't just wake up this morning and come up with some numbers. I know what I said, but you don't seem to care. I am not going to waste my time trying to convince you when you have blinders pulled down so tightly.
  10. I don't understand the uproar here, it amounts to 0.00001 cents from each tax payer in all probability.(Didn't actually do the math ) I have no problems helping people reach their dreams and watching them do it.
  11. Wrong, I said it would be impossible for the gospels to have been written by the apostles after 100 years as some of them have been dated. I did not say all but the gospels have been dated to have been first written anywhere from 20 to a hundred years after Jesus' death. This I have stated because it would have made the gospels over a hundre years old at the time of writing. Not sure if you know this but life expectancy's that average over fifty years is a modern trend, certainly not the norm from a historical perspective. I actually provided dates of the first editions known to have been written, if you can provide earlier dates then you prove something so I guess I have proven more than a little.
  12. I got to level 12 but only got didn't get the 60000 points needed
  13. Well no, they aren't, they are almost entirely amateurs who work a real job and train at the same time. That is why private companies and governments subsidize them becuase they have to cut down on work in order to do so. The pros are there for the dream team sports, basketball and hockey. Also, you have to win gold to get endorsements, that doesn't account for the hundreds of others who have given their all.
  14. I don't think there is much to say about Bush other than thank god his term is nearly done and there cannot be another one. I think everything that could be done incorectly in that position has been done by this man either on purpose or accidently. When he took his oath to uphold and protect the constitution, was he crossing his fingers?
  15. The problem is that they don't get to sell the shampoo until they have won. So I think it is a good idea to have athletic sponsorship programs and also paying what really amounts to small amounts for each medal. These people really do give up alot in order to train and prepare for the Olympics and a chance to represent their countries in a positive way. Will it breed more cheaters? I don't think so, the endorsements that athletes can receive after winning are far more lucrative in many cases than these amounts offered by the government. I would say that if an athlete was going to cheat they would regardless of this new offer.
  16. Trying to antagonize? Let's not be a litle troll.
  17. Sorry, didn't mean to come off mad, but there were two posts and I just wanted to add that I didn't say government's shouldn't be held accountable.
  18. Well there are more than that. Most of this kind of activity occurs outside the Western world though. Historically the Jesuits were very involved but there are numerous churches involved in missionary work especially in Asia and Africa. They are both aid organizations aswell as vehicles to spread the word of Christ. I grew up in South East Asia. I have been approached by a few different groups.
  19. That is fine. August stated: And I answered him. I didn't add whether or not governments shouldn't be held accountable for poor legislation but it is within their mandate. I can understand why some believe that athletic sponsorship is a bad idea, but honestly I would rather spend a few million a year on that than many of the other crap things government spends money on.
  20. Well, Christianity is an agressive religion. Spreading the word of god and jesus is an important facet. I have been approached many times by this. I don't blow up at people but I dislike when a polite refusal is not taken. I also dislike being told I will be going to hell. I believe that is up to God to decide and not some schmuck knocking doors.
  21. I know that is opinion, I admitted as much when I stated it. As in "it is my contention". Wish I could do that, have a historical gaydar. You are right, there are no parchments that say first edition. The earliest found are the dates I have given earlier in the post. The earliest found are actually written in a form of Greek which was kind of like the English of that area of the mediterreanean at the time, in that it was widely spoken and written in. I believe the dead sea scrolls are written in aramaic, so there may have been earlier texts written but as of yet none exist or have been found. However, there are more than a few copies of the later texts written in Greek which suggests they were the first that was put to paper. This is because if there were earlier editions, they would have been found along with the earliest greek ones. I actually don't make "claims" of the date of the gospels, but many peopel with phd's in history and theology do. Those are the people I am basing my information from. Those who have worked their whole lives basing their work on people who work their whole lives etc etc. researching this very topic.
  22. They have that right because we have voted them into power and therfore given them legislative powers over all of us. The federal budget is passed every year as a piece of legislation.
  23. Well said. I may not agree with you, but I enjoyed reading it none the less.
  24. In the same vein, I am sick of religion being pushed in my face and down my throat. I do not believe America is atheist. The number and statistics would suggest quite the contrary. I don't think atheists are pushing their platform, just to keep religion out of schools and out of the justice system and hopefully out of the government because, honestly it just doesn't belong there. If you believe it does, you have every right to place your child in a religious school or home school them as you please. It is true that at some basic level our system of laws has roots in the Bible, but it also has roots in pagan Roman law, the code of Hannurabi and Napoleonic code. Governments should free themselves from god because, as has been seen in medieval europe where the Catholic church exerted enormous pressure over kings examples from Iran and and some other middle eastern countries today, theocratic rule does not work. I don't think you blame the lack of religion on the world going to hell. If you read texts from throughout history, people have believed the world has been going to hell for two thousand years. My question is, how long does it take?
