This is what I am trying to say. Richard may have had homosexual acts, but the idea of a homosexual person did not exist until the 1800's. before then all you had was the act. Its all tied to our rush to classify things into categories. the kinsey scale shows the trouble with this.

If the Catholics want there own school system let them pay for it. It is horrible that they get their own schools funded by the government while other groups do not. I can not express how offensive it is for me that my tax dollars go to supporting the Catholic school board. I am pretty sure the UN has stated that this is wrong. Getting rid of the Catholic school board now is the only logical and fair thing to do. But it will not happen.

Well then the people who use pruvate healthcare will pay more money and get worse service (if you are right). Does Belinda deserve worse healthcare than she can afford because someone else can not afford private healthcare? I agree that we should all pitch in. What you are saying is if I have cancer you think that pitching in is the only option even if I was willing and able to pay for it myself. If I had cancer I would not want to forcing me to wait for treatment. I would want the quickest treatment I could get (as any sane person would)

Okay clearly your not a parent. Lets think about this, its not the spanking so much as how you do it. A reasonable person can see this and would know what is abusive. When you disipline a child you must be sure to explain or show to them why what they did was wrong and how they can avoid doing it in the future. The generation after ww2 was spanked but decided not to spank their kids, and look at our society now. I am not saying I would spank my children, but to ban it is silly. This is an issue I have been thinking about recently. This could really hurt us in regards to healthcare. These people don’t pay taxes yet are going to come back here for medical care when they get old or sick. I mean compared to the Lebanon evacuation how much more are all the people in the US (+1 million?) and other countries holding Canadian passports going to cost us? Too much! Do we even know how many people holding Canadian passports are living abroad? We must do SOMETHING about this (what im not sure, a healthcare tax maybe). I agree that not having Canadian expats pay taxes here is good in some ways (it makes Canadians easier to hire for multinationals unlike Americans). Unless we act this is going to cost us a lot of money soon!

Hey all just wondering how people can argue that I can spend money on my car, my kids education, my clothing, my teeth, and my house. But if I want to spend my money on my own health in Canada, then that is illegal. How does this make any sense? I work hard for my money, if there is one thing I should be allowed to spend MY OWN MONEY on it is MY OWN HEALTH AND BODY. That is bascially why I am for both public and private healthcare. This would be impossible to measure. People will not actively ID themselves as LGBT. The only way you could find out would be to show people SS porn and measure they reaction. The behavior of the minority is not always abnormal. LGBT people have existed in every society. You are making the mistake also that abnormal = bad. Certainly transexuals are abnormal, as they are somethign like 1:10,000 people. However there is nothing wrong with transexuals. So your argument is that if one could find a society of +200,000 people where the majority were either LGBT or not monogamous then it would show that these behaviors are normal but if a society like this could not be found than they would be abnormal?

I am for private healtcare controlled by market forces. I am also for better run public healthcare with more responsibility assigned to the individual for their own health. The state needs to take a more active role. To go into details would take far to long and is not at all the subject at hand. I am for more government intervention in peoples lives in terms of their own health (ie everyone should be AIDS tested at least once a year). The US cant sustain theses troop levels. They need something like 30,000-50,000 gound troops left behind with air support. They should never have pulled 100% out of vietnam. Going in was a mistake, pulling out now would be an even worse one.

My question was def 'why would you believe'. As to what I would have to do to believe, well I guess I would need some evidence or reason, thats just the way I feel I guess. This being said, I was not brought up with religion, so the arguement that you are what you are b.c. of your parents works for atheists and agnostics as well. But I have faith in humanity, I dont know that God or gods are needed for this. I find it so intresting that people with faith and lacking faith both pity the other side. I do admit it would be nice to have faith, I would feel more secure of course, there has just never been anything in my life that has given me any reason to have faith.

Some societies have institutionalized bisexuality (ancient Sparta and Athens for example). Others (ancient Japan) have not cared about sexuality as long as the man is able to produce a child. If you are going to claim that what you feel is normal and natural then you have to bring evidence. Further to say something is the 'norm' for all of human society is very problematic for me unless you brign a lot of evidence.
