Then look at break downs of where they come from and how many are coming for jobs and how many are comming as families. Also look at what you have to do to bring your family over. I would say that we should not let people with HIV or AIDS become Canadians. I have nothing against Canadians with HIV or AIDS. I think their rights should be fully protected. But I dont think we should let people we KNOW have a fatal diease immigrate. Does anyone have a good reason why we should? The government has not been nearly agressive in tackling AIDS!

Really What could he do and how is he going to do it. The greens are further left than the NDP. Its not like say, Alberta, where they could vote in the liberals. They both involve 2 or more people. Emotions are often high. People feel regret afterwards. Society looks down on you depending on the situation. People are more afraid of them than they should be. The Canadian government has in the past had laws against both. The Canadian government has in the past ruled that people can be held in jail for the rest of their life for both. If you respond with numbers and facts (you wont) I will look up the money immigrants bring to this country (Hong Kong alone is huge) and the professional jobs they fill. I would say a war where one side was in the right (which is all positional), had a reason they had to fight, and did not commit war crimes could be a just war. Wars are usually started by a small minority (oligarchs). Basically one side would have to be not only morally superior to their foe but morally superior overall. I just think once a war starts being just goes out the window because you HAVE to win, and you will do anything to win, so lets throw out the rules. Its why conventions often dont work. America produced so much. They helped out Can, UK, Aus, China, and USSR (among others). By the end the Russians were out producing the Germans. German arm production is so intresting (check out spears book, its a must read!) As the same time, Germany was never able to reach high enough production levels (they did not reach ww1 levels) and Japan was producing equal to Canada and Aus in 1941 (1/10th of prewar us industry). Are you all dense? People can make parties (within reason) based on whatever the heck they want! If someone wants to make a party based on one issue, they can. If someone want to make a party based on age, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or religion, they can. As long as they dont restrict membership, who cares? I agree that these people should think of themselves as Canadian first (before any race, religion, other country, sexual orientation). This is my personal viewpoint of course. I disagree that these parties are a threat. If individuals feel strongly enough to vote for them, they can. A party like this will likely never form a government (maybe the Greens sometime, maybe). It is just not a good idea, the major parties of course have wider bases. The alternative would be to block these parties from being formed. This breaks no laws. That too me is far worse than a party looking out for chinese intrests. People who are scared of immigrants and multiculturalism vex me. Do they not understand the points system? The professionals from all over the world, the engineers and doctors, who want to come here? Canada would rather (stupidly) produce lawyers and arts majors. It seems like a good example. They did seize and keep ships which carried slaves. And they did use violence (specifically against Brazil, not sure where else) when diplomacy didnt work. Also they punished people for something that they themselves had been doing recently. And they were still very racist. I guess it depends on what prespective you have. How come we have more lawyers in Toronto than there are in either Japan or Korea yet our system moves slower and costs more? Clearly we should cap the number of lawyers and reform our system to be more like (not totally) Japan's. It will not happen because everyone is to afraid of giving up a little of their due process. We have far too much due process. If you want to change the way judges are appointed that is one thing. Judges are professionals who know, practise, and are trained in the law. Juries are people who can let off defendents who have silkly lawyers. The cost of holding people in prison. The problem of too many people being in prison. The problem of too many lawyers charging too much money. These are all important issues. They are just not the current issue. Juries exist so laywers can try and fool them. Our entire system is based around both sides dogmatically pushing their viewpoint regardless instead of a quest for the truth.

Okay if you want to play like that. There has never been a just war (ww2 is the classic example, anyone who thinks it was just probably has not studied it enough). There never will be a just war. But, there could be a just war (somewhat Platonic I guess...).

Chinese is not a race, Chinese is an ethnic category. This is an ethnic party, not a race based one. They have as much right to make a party as anyone else. As long as they dont deny membership who cares. This party is not a threat. mikedavid00 your misinformed. Immigrants help this country in so many ways. They are not a threat and they do not hurt this country. The people who are born here are too often lazy and would rather get a philosophy degree than somethign useful. And so many talented Asians want to come here and build a better life.

Of course they did, why would this be suprising, you think any society has been able to get rid of non-hetrosexual behaviour? Acceptance might change. But no matter how much you may attempt to stop it or make people think it is bad, it has existed and will exist in every human society. No human society has ever had one 'type' of sexuality which 'works' for everyone. Sexuality is very diverse at all levels and in all types and forms of human society. Really the question should not be how natural it is, but who is hurt by the action. Consenting adults is, for me, the key. People and their sexuality are just wierd in general, regardless of sexual orientation.

We need to figure out how we will deal and adapt. That should be our main goal.

I dont really see the point in them. They are not legal experts (like judges). The process of getting them is expensive and time consuming. And lawyers can sway them with pretty arguements. The only people who probably want juries are the laywers and the guilty. Our legal system needs dramatic reform. And I feel that getting rid of juries is one of the first steps.

I dont think its contradictory. I dont think there are any just wars but the conclusion that I draw from that is not that we should never fight. When people organize in a group it will come to pass that some of them will act in a bad manner. Further even by following orders they can do bad things. If someone can come up with a just war (and I hope they can do better than ww2) I would love to hear it. We clearly had to fight ww2, but it was not a just war.

I do not think there has ever been a just war. War is horrible and people on both sides do awful things. There have been wars that had to be fought, but no war is 'just'.

If we lose it will be because of public oppinion here and the MSM, not because of our troops and the situation on the ground.

So your logic is what comes first is 'natural' and what is 'natural' is 'good'? Well There are clear flaws with that reasoning, but if you take it to its logical conclusion it wrecks your arguement as monogamous hetrosexuality is not the earliest. If this is how you feel I suggest you read some ethnographic studies of the sexuality of hunter gatherers. And if god wanted people to be hetro, why would be make so many people non-hetro? Sexual orientation is not what you do. It is how you feel. Let me restate this, if you have sex with men or women this does not at all matter for your sexual orientation. If you LIKE men or women, then it matters. And if you like both, your bi, regardless of what you do. So you can tell people to repress it, but if you like the same sex as you, your a homosexual, and if you like both, your bi.
