The Sun learned Toronto Police had multiple contacts with Hussain dating as far back as 2010 when he was a student at Victoria Park Collegiate Institute and told a teacher “it would be really cool to kill someone.”

“If he was threatening to harm himself or others, that would have been grounds to apprehend him under the Mental Health Act,” one cop explained. “But that whole process is a revolving door and he would have been released soon after.”

Sources have also said the RCMP had spoken to Hussain about visiting pro-Islamic State websites.

But Canada’s Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale was quick to deny Hussain was on any federal watchlists.

“As far as we’re aware at this stage based on the state of the investigation…there is no connection between that individual and national security,” he told media.

One source with close ties to the policing world scoffed at Goodale’s comment.

“Most people don’t end up having the RCMP show up at their home to talk to them about their online activity,” said the source, who asked not to be named.

The source said the feds, police chief and others have been “playing with words” and “deceiving the public.”

“It’s all political,” the source said.

No wonder we are skeptical of our politicians and security authorities.

Well, you missed the point that we're not ready to even start such a discussion.  Furthermore, you assume that the conclusion will blame Muslims so your post is a lost cause IMO.

Well, you missed my point. Under the Liberals there would not be an "objective" inquiry therefore there would be no conclusion.

It would be nice to have an objective inquiry as to the causes, but if we're still blaming groups (effectively because we don't like them) then we don't have a public base from which we can launch that inquiry.  If someone can suggest a way then I'm all for it.

Well don't look to the Liberals to launch such an "objective" inquiry. They're much too afraid the results would put muslims in a bad light. I mean, think of all the lost votes.

Well, now we're seeing the Doug Ford many of thought would emerge. He's taking the axe to Toronto city council, reducing the number of wards from 47 to 25, and cancelling the regional chair elections in Peel and York. There will be a lot of unhappy campers at city hall, for sure. I'm wondering if this is also intended as a warning shot to Tory not to undermine Ford's position on the illegal/irregular migrant crisis? Tory has been negotiating separately with the federal government to resolve the refugee claimant housing crisis, with the result that many of the migrants will soon be housed in hotels. Meanwhile, our growing horde of homeless get sleeping bags and maybe a cot in a church basement on cold nights, if they're lucky. It's quite a contrast. A friend who didn't support Ford's Conservatives in the election is now saying he's quickly warming to him. I believe Ford's "I'm in charge here" move will have broader repercussions.

There's talk that Ford took this action to stick it to his political opponents. Yet, he has a caucus to answer to and I doubt the majority of them share any  of the personal animosity attributed to Ford.

"Journalists in this country are deliberately spinning the news. They have their own agenda and don’t want Canadians to know the truth — in this case, that police are still probing whether or not the shooter was indeed motivated by his Islamic faith. Instead, media outlets across the country downplay ties to terrorism, while frantically pushing an unverified claim about mental illness."

    Ouch!

Journalists may unwittingly be playing into the hands of the Liberal government who would like nothing more than to sweep this matter from the front pages and social media. Persuading the public that mental illness is at play and not terrorism is most probably a very good outcome for the Liberals.

  6. Here's new info regarding the gun used by the Danforth shooter.

    Quote

The semi-automatic handgun used in Sunday’s deadly rampage in Toronto’s Greektown that killed two people and injured 13 others was stolen during a break-and-enter in Saskatoon in 2015, a police source told CTV News.

A source familiar with the case told CP24 on Wednesday that the gun used by Faisal Hussain, the 29-year-old man who police claim carried out the shooting before dying of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, was likely obtained from a “gang-related source.”

The theft of the firearm used by Hussain occurred around the same time that Hussain’s brother Fahad, who is currently in a drug-induced coma, was arrested in Saskatoon on drug charges, court documents seen by CTV Saskatoon show.

We are being manipulated by the spin doctors.  Tara fatah is calling it a Jihad attack

Have you noticed, some media are reporting the shooter's brother who is in a coma, suffered a stroke and others report he had a drug overdose. Come on, there's a vast difference in the two conditions. Reporting a stroke raises sympathy from some people for the shooter's family. On the other hand drug overdose raises the specter of a criminal life.

  8. It's a great time to be a hotel owner, especially in Ontario and Québec.

    Quote

The 800 asylum seekers currently being housed in Toronto’s university dormitories, for example, will soon be moved to hotels as the schools get set to welcome students back in the fall. It remains unclear how many hotel rooms will be necessary, however, or for how long.

It's astonishing. The government has no plan and does not appear to know what it's doing.

Blair also admitted on Tuesday that he has not even received his mandate letter from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

“Will minister Goodale be reporting to you?” Rempel asked Blair early in the day.

    “No,” he answered.

“Will the (Canada Border Services Agency) be reporting to you?” Rempel asked.

“No. I have not received my mandate letters from the prime minister just yet so I cannot speculate on what my role will be,” Blair replied.

Rempel voiced skepticism about Blair’s cabinet appointment, questioning whether it was simply a public relations exercise that would create more bureaucracy.

Trudeau has been vacationing in BC and can't be bothered. The PM is abdicating his responsibilities. It was bad before but now the situation is unraveling more rapidly.

This silly ass bull chit needs to stop but will our asleep at the switch as always politicians decide to do something about this criminality? Personally, I doubt that they will do anything about it. Our politicians appear to be always asleep at the switch. What the hell and why are we the Canadian people paying these guys/gals for? They all appear to continue to want to make an ass out of Canada all the time. Disgusting.

Every immigrant and refugee accepted by Canada represents a vote for the political  party that oversaw their arrival here. That's quite an incentive for increasing those arrivals.

Unfortunately, what happens is that we must take many years of legal hearings and appeals before a decision is rendered, by which time the individual is quite at home here and simply does not leave.

The odds of being accepted as a refugee increase significantly if you bear a child on Canadian soil. I mean, as you know all you have to do is give birth in a plane over Canadian airspace and the kid is automatically a citizen.

I have heard that Canada is an extremely hard country to get into if you are an actual immigrant.

Anyone who queue's up in the immigration line has it all wrong. The trick is to cross into Canada illegally and your odds of being accepted are just as good as trying to come in through regular means.
