That's what I - and others have been trying to educate you about. Glad it finally sunk in.

The question was posed to you. Do you think he meant it to be 6% forever? What's your opinion of why he didn't say that?

Liberal Party of Canada's misinformation on Bill C-42
Keepitsimple replied to Derek 2.0's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Blah, blah, blah. Our problem here in Canada - such as it is......is with illegal handguns - not rifles and shotguns. The people who kill each other with these illegal handguns are not going to register them. Perhaps someone can elaborate how a "National Firearms Registry" will stop the illegal smuggling and use of handguns? -
I'll believe there's been a turnaround when we see the next couple of polls - but a sample size of over 5000 is pretty good.......

Liberals on the Attack - Against Mulcair!
Keepitsimple replied to Keepitsimple's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Why must you always have that angry, arrogant tone in your posts - demanding that people respond to your diversions? Again Mr. Bluster, my point was that Mulcair would appear to be more of a centrist than his party portrays. If you don't agree, just say so. -
Messing With Mother Nature Fires

I guess the Law of Unintended Consequences has raised it's ugly head again...... Link: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/firefighting-strategies-may-be-contributing-to-larger-wildfires/article25348553/ -
Liberals on the Attack - Against Mulcair!

It's not a talking point. It's about Mulcair being more of a Centrist than NDP's ideology has allowed him to be - so far.....or do you have a different reading on the man? -

Liberals on the Attack - Against Mulcair!
Keepitsimple replied to Keepitsimple's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Necessity is the Mother of Invention. If the Conservatives are granted another majority - it will be because the NDP is viewed as a risky venture, too far to the left. Faced with that reality, they will continue to move to the center. After all, Mulcair was originally a Liberal in Quebec and arguably flirted with "becoming" a Conservative. In short - he's a politician with a Centrist bent, albeit leaning to the Left. A disheartening third-place finish for the Liberals will continue to sew turmoil in the Party and lead to a leadership vote where anything can happen - and Trudeau may never be ready to lead. We may very well be witnessing the beginning of the road travelled by the Reform/PC/Alliance merger......because if Conservative majorities are in the forseeable future - the Mother of Invention will be upon both parties. Meanwhile, they'll be fighting each other - and by the time the debates arrive, they will look like Monty Python's Holy Grail "Knight on the Bridge" - after having his leg and arm hacked off, courageously saying "It's just a flesh wound". -
Liberals on the Attack - Against Mulcair!

Unless you weigh 4000 pounds, I doubt there will be "tons of folks" - outside of the usual conspiracy partisans. -
Perhaps there are better ways....... I was simply responding to Cyber's suggestion that it all be tax free........my point to that was poor people pay little or no tax - but "rich" people do. Your point of the lower-earning spouse in a "rich" family is valid - but that doesn't negate the fact that the poor pay little or no tax. Not perfect - but not unfair.
-
Don't think you'd want to do that - because lower income families pay little or no tax - making it virtually tax-free.....while better-off families pay tax according to their own incomes. Isn't this the result that others seem to want - take from the "rich" and give to the poor?

Liberals on the Attack - Against Mulcair!
Keepitsimple replied to Keepitsimple's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Well.....as we've all been waiting for - now he's going to have to prove them wrong, get a backbone, face the media unscripted, put some passion and substance into his arguments - and show Canadians that he indeed has the Royal Jelly. Or will the "attack ads" prove accurate? We'll be finding out. Bets? -
It was only a matter of time. With the Liberals sliding into irrelevance, they've finally turned their guns on Mulcair and the NDP. Still a long way to go but the Liberal shift is the gift that the Conservatives were waiting for - squabbling on the Left as they bash each others' policies. On the question of who would make the best Prime Minister, Trudeau has fallen all the way to 16%. On that score, Conservative message that "he's just not ready" has finally gained traction. All the public needed was Trudeau's dismal performance to validate the message.....and he's provided it in spades. We'll see how Mulcair handles the pressure of having to defend his policies. Will he revert to Angry Tom? Will his natural arrogance surface? He's got a chance but there's a long way to go.

The CBC - always fair and balanced
Keepitsimple replied to Smallc's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
No need to elaborate - because it seems like you've never read it - and if you did, you'd recognize the drippy, critical sarcasm throughout the article. The author clearly is none too bright. After questioning the 200,000 figure repeatedly, the article says this: Duh! There's the 200,000 that are missing. And hey - are the Conservatives pandering to families - or were families already drawn to the Conservatives in the last election because of their family-friendly policies? Chicken or the egg. -

You're welcome. I apologize for the "bold" lettering on my post. It's nice to see someone who acknowledges when they might misunderstand something. Humility is sadly lacking for some posters.

You understand wrongly. Here's the legislation, courtesy of Elections Canada: Link: http://www.elections.ca/content.aspx?section=vot&dir=faq&document=faqelec〈=e#a10

The article had nothing to do with the date of the election - it was about when the writ would be dropped. Any chance you might admit you had it wrong?
-
Where are earth did you get that idea? A lot of the usual suspects speculated that he WOULD call an early election many months ago but he kept his word - many would say to his dis-advantage. I've said it before - maybe you should spends more time cheering for your guy - convincing us that Trudeau's new, fresh approach will win the day - instead of your comedy of drive-by anti-Harper rants. Too funny.
-
You're making my point - if you would have asked that same question to the people of Ontario three months prior to the election - you would have gotten the exact same answer - Ontarians clearly wanted a change in government. Hudak went on to prove that he was a dunce - but also that he didn't have the right policies and the voters held their noses and re-elected the Liberals. I don't expect Mulcair to be the dunce that Hudak was - but there is a mountain of opportunity for Canadians to think twice about his policies. We also have not yet seen how Mulcair reacts under pressure - when he and his policies are the target. Will he revert to "Angry Tom"? Will his natural arrogance betray him? We'll have to wait and see.
