Really, I think just the opposite. It will totally undermine the Bloc, and the PQ.

Sure Mike, terrorist attacks in Canada, we will just give in.

Oda not welcome at provincial meeting on women's issues

What a fudged question. You could put "informed consent" law towards any medical procedure. The law requires that before a person has a "medical procedure" the physician must provide certain information such as details to the current status of the medical problem, including (insert machine that goes bing here MRI, CAT, ULTRASOUND,Xrays), the possible complications and side effects of the medical procedure, and alternative procedures such as Homoeapathic Home Remedies...etc. Do you support laws similar laws here? Duh, what a BS way to try to skew an argument. Here is a question or two. Do you support the Christian Heritage Position against abortion? Do you support using the NotWithstanding clause in abortion? Do you recognize that neither the Liberal, Conservative, NDP or Green Party are going to change the current laws with regards to womens rights to abortion. These are clear questions. This topic is polarizing, and old hat. Been there done that, seen laws, cases and courts. If the pro life people here are truly serious about their cause they will vote CHP. Otherwise they can hide behind the pretender parties and false questions and polls. I want women to choose to have their baby brought to term on their own. Not with the imposition of law. But if they choose not to, that is their right, not mine. I will neither be raising the child or carrying the burden. I am not a judgemental holier than thou asshole on the sidelines who will be nowhere around after the event occurs, wonderfully thinking that I have done a good deed for society, because I have forced her to have an unwanted child. -
Is that what you read?

Do you believe these polls? Do you think if these polls are accurate in their percentage, that those Afghans who have answered, are answering the question honestly. While I believe they are nothing to fear from Canadian involvement, do they really have no fear of us or our long term goals? I have no problem believing the honesty and integrity and humanitarian goodwill of our nation towards Afghans. Are these polls done in hot spots or in regions that are anti pashtun?

Until Fellow Muslim Women Stand Up against Fundamentalism!!!! What on earth do you think RAWA is and is Doing? These women from Afghanistan, saw their country go from secular communist with islamic elements, to full blown radical islam. They have dealt with wars that you could never comprehend, Islamic Warlords, Taliban, Barbarism of the Northern Alliance, beatings and murders behind closed doors in their own homes, Open Executions by the Taliban, to get these behind doors things out in the open so everyone sees justice, not to mention the poverty and oppression of being a women in Afghanistan. To the imposition of another war, and once again support for Islamic Fundamentalism, Religious Police, childbrides and pedophillia. While the western media tries to pretend that we have freed them. And so when these women STAND UP AGAINST FUNDAMENTALISM, and ask the Western Media to LISTEN to their concerns, You brush it off like they are doing nothing. They are living it and speaking out against it, and risking their lives to do so, and would like to convey these evens so that western society knows what is going on in their country today.

There are indeed similarties. Only the Shah, came to power with the aid of the CIA in overthrowing an elected government. Because of his illegitimacy, it took 25 years for islamic radicals to get rid of the Shah. This was not a great individual. Musharraf overthrew a democratically elected government he felt was corrupt. Probably true. However he didn't do it with US aid. The Military in Pakistan has always had some control of Pakistani government. Most of this control comes from the ISI and their connections to Islamic Radicals. The Democratically elected government was not composed of a high percentage of Islamic Radicals, something under 5% IIRC. So which is greater to fear, democracy in Pakistan, or the control of a Military Ruler whom got his power from Generals and Secret Service whom support terrorist activities in Afghanistan and Kashmir. The more he restricts his own supporters the greater the chance for rebellion. This is his BASE. So, the Gordian Knot that he is in, if he chooses not to act against Terrorism we pay the price, or he acts against terrorism and he may pay a price. So, are you suggesting the Pakistan give up it's nuclear arms?

Israel is held to a higher standard. Like the democracies in the west. Israelis treatment of the Palestinians, stands out as something that is difficult for western society to understand. Just like Segregation in the US and Apparthied in South Africa came to an end, so should this division of people based on ethnicity be overcome. However, as we know Palestinians, have made progress. Their was a time when Golda Meir said, Palestinians didn't exist. So today, while they have no country or fixed borders, they do have the right to vote amongst themselves. This certainly didn't happen because of the Israeli government alone. It occurred through conflict, terrorism and reconcillitaion. Darfur is a conflict with non democratic entity. An Islamic society, Other regions of tragedy are the results of failed states. Non Democratic societies and failed states are more difficult for Westerners to become self righteous over because these are not how we look at ourselves. When we see Israel, we are looking into the mirror of how we see our own society. I would rather see a motion educating people on Human Rights abuse around the globe, and not single out a country because we hold it to a higher standard.

There is no comparison. Mulroney had a Majority in his first term, he made policies successfully, fought for the FTA and won a second majority. He then fled the horrors at the end of his 2nd term government. If Harper had gotten a Majority in 2004 his first run, we would be in Iraq. Game over, no second term, Period.

I guess Paul Martin would argue with you on that one. From CBC news January 17th 2006.

Because these people are ill and insecure. -
BULL!!! It is a tragedy when the horrific truth is undermined by people wanting to make a name for themselves and trying to capitalize on events that are self explanitory. It's too bad that you believe this crap, because the truth itself is far more disturbing then the fantasy presented here. The other one I like is the plane never hit the Pentagon. The only one that I ever had reservations about was flight 93 and whether the US fighters shot it down. They didn't. The gaps in knowledge and reactions to events action as well as the incompetence and brushing off of threats by the Bush Administration are far more accurate and disturbing, then creating a clever government that pulls off an extreme event in participation with a Terrorist Organization. Sorry, this government was never this clever. They were incompetent. Al Qaida were well planned, Patient and lucky to pull off such a feat undetected. The Bush administration were thinking about missile defence and cold war mentality.

Yeah, I could see waiting until 2008. Finally people in these forums willing to give me a break from going to the polls again. I haven't seen so much 2008 comments in a while. I do agree with some of the other posters here as well, that Canadians aren't in a rush to go to the polls. I also think the longer Harper can go the better it will be for the CPC in the long run.

Fatah is not terrorist based, Hamas is. Oh? Fatah is not terrorist based? Lets keep looking And Fatahs biggest problem was that they were a one party system that failed the voters. So, here is your choice. You have grown comfortable and accepting of the Fatah PLO terrorists, and their political affliliates. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

I have suggested just that to a number of posters here. Your take on Afghanistan is pretty clear. They were bombed into the Dark Ages. The Communists the Kalqs and the Parshams were no longer going to hold back the Islamic Fundamentalists. Once Amin whom overthrew Tureki, decided it was better to kill the Mujahideen whom captured the US ambassodor (resulting in his death), then to talk to terrorists, the USSR knew changes had to be made or the whole country would collapse to Islamic Extremism. The Invasion to implant Babark Karmal who was driven from the country by Marxists nutbars, didn't work and ended with the US backing these Jihadists. Yes, at first they were supporters of "people of the book" Jews and Christians Alike, because we weren't Godless, like the Soviets. Once Saudis exported their religion to Afghanistan, combined with the US/Saudi Cash and Pakistani logistics, the radicalism and barbarism became complete. Possibly the only effective tool to drive out the Soviets, but at a great cost to the Afghans. I have a story, where back in the 80s, the group following Abdul Haq, Killed in 2001 by the Taliban, where going to sneek into Kandahar in a petrol truck. Trojan Horse style. Robert Kaplan, a Jewish Reporter, tried to explain to them that they would sufficate from the fumes. Finally he got it across to them that they couldn't smoke in the truck, and they understood. I find that a strange, yet similar parrallel to getting them to understand the need for prisoners. But Afghans can take care of their own country, and this can be done easily, as soon as Pakistan stops allowing Madrassas from creating an endless supply of Jihadists to crossing the border to kill Canadian Soldiers.

I never said it did. I said the US got what it needed for Norad. What it needed from us, for its current endeavors. DND/CF : News Room : Archives"This amendment safeguards and sustains NORAD regardless of what decision the Government of Canada eventually takes on ballistic missile defence. ... www.forces.gc.ca/site/Newsroom/view_news_e.asp?id=1422 - 14k

Yeah, it's a turkey that doesn't work, is of enormous cost, and is a pet project for defense contractors, that will continue to sell the idea that it works, that it will work, and that there is a "threat" of a single missile attack. This infant appears to have an enormous hunger and a long gestation period. It will always be promoted as the defence of the future. But like lots of things, technology will leave it behind as a costly boondoggle. Much like the technology of NORAD, which is being dismantled or obsoleted, missile defence is obsolete as a platform of defence. On top of that, the threat that it is to protect us from, is fantasy. Why is it that I am not scared? And the Missile Defence System couldn't stop one Damn Missile from hitting its target. Why create a false sense of security. The missile defence in Iraq did a great job of shooting down allied aircraft.
-
The US already got from us what it needed for NORAD. Other than that, the US can waste all the money it wants, and this turkey will keep coming back to haunt us, from all those Defense Contractors whom grew up with the Atari Game Missile Command.

The Liberals didn't demonized income trusts. They did their typical, hide in the bush stance. The NDP were against income trusts, the CPC were for them. Guess you should be talking to the Irish guy, to set him straight. Btw, you actually endorse Liberal Economic Policies, not to be confused with the Liberal or Conservative Party.

Yes, the Taliban Leadership fled in 2001. The elected government of Hamid Karzai has been empowered for some time. It is now 2007. How many weeks does it take to train a military force? Afghans whom wish to defend this new found freedom, democracy and Islamic Fundamentalist religion, should be quite substansive by now. I would think a large Afghan Army should have been mobilized to defend themselves against the "hated" Taliban.
