  1. There is nothing vague about this.
  2. What are you talking about?
  3. My Grand Am is over 100 years old! OMG I oughta get collector plates or sumpthin! Get a grip -- factories pollute more than all the vehicles on the planet put together. You were suggesting that Automobiles have come a long way. They haven't. I would also argue, that keeping a polluting vehicle on the road for decades, will cause less greenhouse emmissions then the costs to manufacture a new one. (I have made this argument in the past). However, for you to believe that vehicles produce little in the Way of Emmissions is foolish and irresponsible. They contribute and are one of the easier targets to address. I hope you like your Grand Am. It has my parts in it. Should be around in 100 years if you take good care of it.
  4. While I am no Rick Hillier fan, he is doing his job in criticizing military spending. I am reminded of the "This is Unfair" when the Liberals cry foul. Hillier is pointing out that the Military was squeezed for the last 10 years. It is true. The military hasn't been a priority since I can recall, and the spending was reduced in the last 10 years on top of that. This is no different to the reductions in Transfer payments, pressures on Health Care, and many other program slashes and cuts to government services while the Liberals Balanced the budget. The Reform was on stride with its focus of fiscal restraint and balanced budgets. Something that had been lost upon the previous political masters. So instead of Liberals today acknowledging what occurred, and that the military suffered downsizing like all other government responsibilities, the Liberals cry foul today. It's what happened. There were reasons for the cuts at the time. It's time to increase spending. The Government is doing just that for the military. They need to address the other issues as well. If Hillier is getting his past due, good for the military. Now for the rest of Canada.
  5. Except, apparently, the Harper government. Well, now there are two of us. DOH!
  6. They did figure it into their prices. You are paying to use the service. Why should I use cash and pay your debit fee built into the cost of a consumer good? You just knock the NDP earlier with them collecting pennies while you give away nickles dimes and quarters. In the best quote of Bart Simpson. SUCKER!!! Don't like the fee, don't use the service..I am quoting many knowledgeable and opinionated sources here:-). I feel old fashioned, but I use cash for 90% of my transactions. I like to cut deals. Cash is a very effective tool to make deals with. And those whom are able to make their own decisions get my business whenever possible. Try that where possible, and use cash anyways if you want to save the service charge. Lots of younger adults have been weened on ATMs and Debit. People used to using Debit are easy pickings and these Debit services cost the retailer as well. At least you don't get a pocket full of pennies though.
  7. I couldn't imagine the level of trading if their had been a leak in the CPCs about face on Income trusts. People would have dumped these stocks making off like bandits, shortly before they were worthless. Kinda like Enron and Nortel;-). You have to admit, no matter how hypocritical the decision to reverse income trusts, at least the CPC didn't botch it up worse then it already was going to be.
  8. Now Geoffrey. He only emailed a banker IIRC. What would a banker care about income trusts. Really it was just idle chit chat. Nothing to go to jail over. Banks are good people and didn't do anything with the information. There are times I wish I was a fly on the wall. Or more accurately, a blackberry:-).
  9. That is a very bizarre post. Also just as bizarre IIRC, Zundel ran for the leadership of the Federal Liberal Party
  10. Brison broke no criminal law. Being irresponsible and foolish isn't a crime.
  11. Is that without the inquiries of the NDP no charges would have been laid. What did Goodale do when asked to investigate?
  12. Considering that Suzuki had been doing interviews all morning on Radio Nets, and only had an "incident" on AM 640 gives me reason to believe he was ambushed. I have been on the Oakley show, and understand how it works. When you got them on the run, you are disconnected. My Buddy was a screener for the show, he did indeed butter me up, and then suckered me, with the first question, which had little to do with the comments on the show that I called into address. I got out of the ambush, and caught Oakley with a comment, and then I was disconnected. I guess I could write this as OAKLEY rudely hangs up on caller. But he does it ever day, many times a day. My buddy laughed his face off over the whole thing. He really enjoyed setting me up. Perhaps that is just the nature of the Oakley show. So does this mean I have more respect for him or for Suzuki? Oakley has a job to do. Talk radio, and you have to take it for what it is... A talk show.
  13. Part of the source is from AM 640 news headline, and part is from MikeDavid00 quoting caller hearsay. It is all wrapped up in one quote, which is why it looks like a bad post on a blog. You have to weave your weave through the facts. Sometimes they are there, sometimes not.
  14. I believe the Tories are really interested in having an election while the polls are showing well. The Electorate is burnt out. Chretian pulled off elections to challenge his opponents externally and internally. However voter turnout was low and there was no anti liberal backlash, because of the weakness of the opposition parties. While the opposition parties all appear weak in the current polls, you just can't count on a moment in time to rush towards an election, but if you are going to have one based on a moment in time. Now would be the time.
  15. So you don't know if it is true or not? It's hearsay not fact?
  16. Where did you get this part above? I can't find this on the AM 640 Site.
  17. Obviously I am a big fan of the combustion engine. I believe that these motors were made over 100 years ago to service people like me whom are too lazy to engage in organic power. But your opinion leaves alot to be desired.
  18. Marketing is a great tool. Playing catchup to a manufacturer that set the standard be it , quality or safety, makes it difficult to remove the myth. All Manufacturers could produce clean cars in the near future. The Japanese are pressing forward and will catch all the North American Manufacturers with their pants down again. People will want these vehicles and demand will cover the R&D, just like all new models.
  19. MikeDavid00 has a way of hyping up his posts and adds lots of embellishments to them. Sometimes there is truth behind them, other times it's a good yarn. I have no proof of Suzuki Storming out other than the original posters assertion.
  20. I am detecting a certain swagger with the Conservative Party. Election is coming.
  21. The Finance Minister is responsible. Goodale was the minister at the time. However the current minister is responsible for his department. Thus the Servant is suspended without pay until this is resolved.
  22. Whoa!!! Just before the christmas break, the leaks were out. The NDP MP Judy (Some really long name) asked Goodale to investigate possible wrongdoing. He didn't. Was there wrong doing? Charges have been laid. Was it Goodales responsibility? Yes. Obviously the heavy trading on income trusts was more then just coincidence and it appears a civil servant was benefiting. Luckily the NDP were suspicious and a person has been charged. If the CPC wanted to Rub Goodales nose in it, he should have taken the allegations more seriously then denying that anything is out of the ordinary.

  24. This is absolutely true. Canadians elect a government and accept the results. Even though Mulroney didn't win the popular vote in the 80s, he came out the Free Trade Champion, with the Liberals stealing Ed Broadbents thunder, by pretending to oppose it. Once in power, although the majority of the popular vote was clearly against free trade and the election was fought on free trade, once the election was over and the PCs got down to business, the Liberal Senate blocked the bill, that if it had been passed by Liberals would have went through the Senate without waking a soul. The public, even though against Free Trade were more intolerant of the Senate Games used to slow the bill down. We accept our Elected Government and expect them to get on with business without interference from the Senate. We don't need no checks on government and Liberal and Conservative Senators don't need no Cheques. Abolish it.
