  1. Must be a recent convert. Where did you learn he was a Member of the NDP? This is off the "Green Party" on Wiki. Where did you learn he was a member of the NDP. I would think they would be shouting out loudly if he was. Of course I can't find anything on the net saying such.
  2. You are confusing Suzuki with Harris and the Green Party.
  3. It doesn't matter what the Plebes say on a forum. The government could withdraw from Kyoto. They had an opportunity to do such an action. They appeared ready to do such, when all mention of Kyoto and all programs where eliminated. But they didn't. The Logic that the government can leave Kyoto intact as a treaty obligation, but not enforce it, is the same logic applies for a never ending NATO obligation in Afghanistan.
  4. He clearly states politics has taken over the debate. Suzuki answered many of these same questions on CFRB. He has a problem with Junk Science. Obviously there are Scientists which can be purchased. Some are credible, others just say whatever is needed for the money and add their creditial behind it. I watch Environmental Engineers fight amongst themselves over miles, feet, yards and inches. I am certain that this occurs in the oil field. However, these purchased environmentalists are not the lapped dogs of the industry. They know exactly what is in front of them. Those with no direct interest will try to protect the environment as they see it. Those with an interest in appeasing a developer will argue each tree, stream, and the number of deer. It's just business and politics playing itself out now. There is still debate with regards to Climate Change. On CFRB Suzuki identified that the Climate will increase for hundreds of years without mans input. That we do affect it but it is in the matter of degrees and acceleration that we are discussing. Not whether the science exists or that man has no effect. It is how much, and how much difference can be made if it is address in the present, vs the future. Clearly the position of the British Economist whom people are not choosing to discredit.
  5. I heard the clip, nothing about storming out mad. His voice is passionate, not angry. Yes, Oakley was in attack mode, and did an excellent job of representing the anti climate change voice. He was weak in every aspect, but spoke boldly. He asks Suzuki where he gets his money after Suzuki mentioned where the dissenters get theirs. Suzuki mentioned that the one guy was a shill for the tobacco industry. Suzuki answered the question about where he gets his money. You didn't mention that. I don't think he was rude as much as he doesn't suffer fools. What is Suzukis political Agenda? Where did you get this "he just stormed out" It's not in the clip. Where did you Learn he is a member of the NDP? But what is his agenda. Is it the "Environment" ? What I did notice is that as Suzuki answers where stronger then Oakleys hardballs, Oakley starts to get a little whiney in his voice. It is around this time that you know the interview is going to end. After he tosses the Balls, he has nothing left to do, except acknowledge they were hit out of the park.
  6. I am listening to this now. I heard Suzuki this morning on CFRB. Everything seemed like a normal Q&A CFRB 1010 interview.
  7. What is the purpose of the Null Vote. Either you believe that politics should stay out of the Judiciary or your don't. This is a poorly worded poll because nobody would vote for believing that Judges should toe the political line. So then you are down to a 2 question poll You believe the judiciary should be indepent or NULL This is a problematic poll for myself. Oh yeah, anyone else want to vote with me.......
  8. Let's hope this government can, "make" a plan, and implement it.
  9. Not our "national" environment. But isn't it only 2% so who cares if buying credits doesn't lower ours? I don't believe there has been any program by the Liberals to get us close to these targets. I don't believe that the CPC believed in the argument let alone the treaty, thus the 1 year delay and the elimination of environmental programs. Now they have become "believers" in GHG emmissions because the "polls" say it's important. Quite frankly if the polls said nobody (Noahbody):-) cares about GHG then the CPC wouldn't be lifting a finger in any environmental direction. The NDP MPs have said that the delays have created an untenable situation. You have to wonder why nobody grabbed the ball and ran with this when the treaty was signed. Unless the intent was to pay foreign countries while we continued to emit increasing GHGs. I have to wonder why the CPC didn't just abandon the treaty, say we can't meet it because of the lack of action of the previous government, then implement some sort of plan. Clearly they are playing politics behind closed doors on their own Clean Air Act, and would rather see it die, then advance it into something productive. As of today we have a treaty signed, that our country will have to address sooner or later, and we will need a full environmental action plan that works within the current economy that allows for growth and economic benefits for action regardless of where we end up with Kyoto, people want to move forward with addressing GHG. Now I am interested in where you got your facts on shutting down industry, driving cars, heating homes and eating steak? It sounds ridiculous to suggest such nonsense. Or is that your point? Meeting 2012 goals are just as nonsensical?
  10. Exactly when did this terrorist act occur?
  11. The BQ has been staying ahead in this poll. Is the current catering towards Quebec a result of an effective BQ Opposition or the need to nullify it as a political force? Or is this Catering designed to weaken Federal Liberals in Quebec?
  12. With only 8 current threads on Global Warming and Kyoto on the 1st page alone, I could see the need for another heading about kyoto. Why did you not put this in a Current Kyoto Thread?
  13. You could, and there are many groups whom lost homes in Iraq. But there is a real claim for those whom choose to follow through. Right now, I don't think anyone wants there home in Bagdad and real estate is probably pretty cheap. That said, when trying to get back land and country. This method was effective for the Jewish people.
  14. How do you figure this?
  15. I understand this. It is a very stupid idea. If feeds the ambitions of the Mullahs. The engagement of the US keeps throwing Iranian Democracy backwards. I am sure you know the story from 1950 onwards.
  16. So you buy a domestic cars even when they are crappy? Domestically Produced cars are not "Crappy". Many manufacturers produce vehicles in Ontario because of the quality of the labour force and the quality of the finished product. Japanese cars made in Canada are excellent. American Manufacturers often give awards to their Canadian Plants for Productivity and Quality. I work in an industry that supports all the 5 S and 6 Sigma programs, the ISO programs and all other various industrial standards for quality and traceability. You can trace a bad component exactly to the person that made it. People must realize that the domestic Auto Industry encompasses more than the 3 popular North American Manufacturers. Chryslers losses are the result of poor sales world wide. GM sales are the results of cars designed by accountants. (Boring) Ford losses are the result of corporate incompetence. This is the result of maintaining a business structure devised from the Flintstones. Japanese Manufacturers build cars here. People here buy these cars. American and Japanese have many co-operative plants in Canada and worldwide. Do I think people should by domestic vehicles over Korean? Of course it is good to know they were built here. You have to look at the serial #s to know where a car is assembled. A North American Model made in Mexico gives me the frights. Cars made in China are known to have steering wheels fall off. Should the auto industry get into cleaner emitting vehicles? The demand for these kinds of cars will increase in the following decades. People will want newer technology in their vehicles. But for today, if you should ask, do I buy a car made in Canada that is crappy. The answer is no. But how much is marketing and how much is consumer demand, and how much is actually crap? Don't buy crap regardless of its origins. But soon the Corrolla, Lexus and Matrix are going to be made here as well. Regardless of people whom want to rave at Japanese Autos vs American Autos, the fact is, they all are made in Ontario.
  17. I understand what you are saying. But Kyoto has been signed, and the Government did not abandon the treaty. Either we meet the treaty obligation through GHG reduction or the cashbox. I didn't write the damn thing or sign it. And now for something really important. I have Emoticons Enabled and no similie faces on my page? Where did they go???
  18. Many Liberal Senators also suggested, its better to abolish the Senate.
  19. 4 Years too late... shameful. This should stop the lies that brought the US to into a fighting frenzy. Right?
  20. One common trend in subversive activities is to use the country, or allies of the country, of whom you are having a conflict with, weapons. The US and Israel did a great job of sourcing USSR weapons to send to the Muj in Afghanistan. So, for Iranians to try to source US, Brit, shells would not be unheard of. That said, Iran did lots of trade with the US for Weapons prior to the revolution and during the Iran Contra Affair. As you can see weapons trade involves lots of unscrupulous activity. This Iranian report isn't yellow cake. It is just overblown hype, that has gotten out of hand. The military has seen an increase in these kinds of weapon attacks. They are going to see lots more.
  21. The very fact that Shiite Militias such as the Badr Brigade operated from Iran during the Saddam years, should surprise no one that Iranian weapons find their way into Iraqi hands. Now, should some of those Iraqi Warplanes reappear from the 1st Gulf War, courtesy of Iran. Now that would be one interesting story.
  22. Wow, Is that ever quick intelligence. Who would have thought? Here is some other really current news. M. Sadr is in Iran. I know I am about four days late in reporting a 3 week old event reported about 2 days ago. Remember when Iran backed the Kurds? Remember when the US backed the Kurds? Remember when Iran gave comfort to the Shiites. Remember when the US told the Shiites to rise up? Meddling in Iraq is common. Iran has always been a player, like the US. Hardly worthy of a current news headline.
  23. You are correct. It is an unintended consequence.
  24. The NDP and BQ supported the Kyoto Bill put forth by the Liberal. That doesn't appear to be propping up the government position in this case. But it can't bring the government down, as no money is involved. The next budget should discern whom is propping up the government. Since it hasn't been seen yet, it could end up being the BQ, the Liberals or the NDP. The Clean Air Act is being blocked in committee by Liberals and Conservatives from what is being reported on Mike Duffy Live. Putting a Bill that was DOA back to committee isn't propping up a government. Even with todays passage, of the Kyoto Bill, it is all plans and talk and no action. The Clean Air Act can put some teeth behind the environment with the help of the Liberals and the Bloc and the NDP. Otherwise it will die in committee.
  25. That was quoted often. It was with regards to conscripts in the standing army. Certainly not the fourth most powerful army in the world. That was all during the Iran/Iraq war and then the Gulf War shortly after.
