  1. I hope it's all uphill. Make us middle age guys proud.
  2. Yup, its a War. Innocent civilians were slain by the Taliban for religious and ethnic differences. What is discouraging is the regrowth the Taliban has seen in recent years. They shouldn't be this popular after 6 years of NATO occupation. People should be enthralled with the development and the new government. But the Taliban and the Pashtuns, been at this for many years, and know their market.
  3. I am dissapointed that this has denigrated into name calling. Calling a member here a pedophile, comes from the gutter, and shouldn't be defended. I expect better.
  4. ROFLOL
  5. This topic is yours, and it is for RCMP and Child Porn. If you don't like being smeared for a creation of the Right, then don't smear "the right" or other posters with the same brush. It didn't work for Harper, it doesn't work for the posters here. Most people soon tune out those whom have nothing to offer but insults regardless of affliation. You sound young, Stephen Harper was a grown man. You need to learn not to Call people supporters of kiddie porn when they don't agree with your perspective. While you are Harper are completely different, your actions are the same. Childish.
  6. This is a link that goes further then Hearsay off the Television. People on this forum have been known to quote the news with alot of embellishment or outright fabrication. http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/stor...hub=CTVNewsAt11 This supports the mental illness of your posting. As for the problems with these shootings I didn't realize the one earlier resulted in a stand off.
  7. I am not certain if this was covered in the other Afghan thread. If it was my apologise. There is a little more to the story then the headlines. http://www.mapleleafweb.com/forums//index....post&f=3&t=8115 Regardless of the circumstances we are being looked upon by Afghans like this. Whereas the Taliban seem to deflect this While our forces try to provide aid to everyone affected. Read the whole article for the good bad and ugly.
  8. Ok 7 of 9 your being reported
  9. Got the link for that? This isn't positive news, and one of the many reasons that you can't just dismiss ROE actions as "too bad, So Sad".
  10. It sure is!!! Bay Lee must have taken lessons from this guy. Bay Lee is just an invisible poster on a virtual forum. Stephen Harper was trying to become the Prime Minister of Canada. It's not a debate, it is all smear, a tactic used by the CPC and its supporters past and present. Cost Harper an election, his credibility. Bay Lee should learn from this.
  11. Free Speech? Is that like allowing party members to talk to the media? Maybe, but any party has to have discipline of some kind, its necessary in every organization - loose lips sink ships. It's clear that the Reform days are over.
  12. True though. You ready to sign up?
  13. Part of your limb is breaking. Be hard Pressed to Find a Quebec NDP supporter, let alone a Military Francphone Clerk Officer NDP supporter. If I could prove their voting recording, I would be my entire bank account, RRSPs and Investments. Most reg soldiers when I was in couldn't give to dung heaps about politics and parties. Only PARTIES with beer and women were important. But a FrancoPhone Clerk Officer might have a good % of being a Liberal, or a PQ/BQ supporter as these have been the only real parties of choice since the Progressive Conservative BQ split.
  14. There are about a half dozen loony lefties on this site (half of whom have already posted to this thread) who post material that is worthy of little more than mockery and ridicule. B. Max is a Separatists IRC.
  15. I don't know if Bay Lee is a nut or not. Bay Lee was Incorrect, perhaps not well read on the article or only looked at the headline. Calling people a nut that you disagree with or prove wrong lowers others view of you. Human Rights Watch is often slammed by people in this forum, whom use similar attack strategies. I disagree not only with Bay Lees Facts, but General Assessment of Afghanistan and Canadian Soldiers. We do not have the reputation that shook Canada and the Forces over the Somalia affair. Don't fall for propoganda, but at the same time, don't think that these killings of innocent civilians can be written off with dismissive comments either, such as Too Bad So Sad. This won't be the last time this happens, and there isn't anything to suggest forces aren't trying harder. They are going to have to continually improve and refine procedure. And the best thing we can do is provide the means to hand this country back to the Afghan Government and Government forces.
  16. Afghans have been engaged in War for close to 30 years. Just another weapon and nearly everyone has one. Pointing a firearm isn't uncommon. And if these soldiers are supposed to be "Friendly" and on "your side", why would you expect them to kill you, since they drove out the Taliban that you hated. And they have been handing out goods earlier. You can be right in your assessment, but that will not win the hearts and minds of anyone. Doesn't matter what we think, it is what they think. For Canadians, it is a Catch 22. You cannot identify if the person is an innocent or an agent or a suicide bomber. And the person can be any of the above. Get it wrong and your on the front page. There is the another element as well. The Afghan Mafia, and thievery is no different then the theft that occurred in Somalia. People are desperate hungry and if you see any good documentaries, Afghans are clever scammers/dealers/barterers (your pick), and sneaking around sniffing out something to take to the market is also common. Regardless the publicity isn't good. The Taliban use this for propoganda, and if their propoganda is more effective then our 3 block strategy, where Canadian Soldiers at the lowest levels are responsible for the Combat, Security and Aid Provision, they have to make the "RIGHT" call every time, or its headline news. What's going on in Afghanistan, isn't about what "you think" or what would be logical to you. What is important is what Afghans, Pashtuns think and what is logical to them.
  17. I am not a believer in the right left ideology. The whole concept was created by where people sat in the house. It is a stupid analogy that certain rockheads use to bash voters with. I understand that you are not a "right-winger" but you will be supporting the CPC as you stated in another thread. I am not an Islamic Fundamentalist looking to create and Islamic Caliphate within the boundries of Canada. This is a "Right Wing" Social Conservative organization of political and religious extremism. Such things as Capital Punishment. Vigilantism and Victims rights to kill the perpetrator. Public Execution to see justice for all. Not to far from the Public Hangings we have used to have. Many Right Wing Religious groups that are popular in the US prohibit music and dancing. Good thing they never banned Kite Flying, or we wouldn't have electricity today. It is no surprise that the Republicans of the 80s felt a common bond with the Islamic Fundamentalists of Afghanistan. It felt like the wild west and these people were described as a Mans Man. Even the Soldiers/Agents whom fought in 2001 with the Northern Alliance found common bonds, and respect for a group of fundamentalists whom would charge their horses towards Taliban Tanks. The Northern Alliance went from Enemy/opposition to Allies in short order. There isn't much we would want to have to do with them either. Al Qaida turned their back on supporters. Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and the United States. They are not something to coddle towards. Nor will any level of military engagement eradict Al Qaida. It will take more then military action. The Taliban, are still supported by Elements of the ISI and the neighboring Pashtun tribes. They can draw up support when required through desire to kill western infidels or fear of the local population. Killing of innocents cannot be brushed aside. As in "too bad for that stupid SOB." The Afghan Army is about to be heralded that after 6 years it could grow to be larger than Canadas Contingent. If the Afghan Army is 50,000 strong they can take care of themselves, and should be out front and taking responsibility for unfortuneate Casualties. The Taliban should be suffering blowback from the number of civilian casualties they inflict. But for what ever reason, they are able to deflect the blame upon the "Infidels". If Afghans are accidentally killing their own, then the infidels cannot be blamed, which is the recruiting process of this Uneducated Islamic Mosaic and its neighboring territories.
  18. There is nothing unusual for government to retailor it's language to meet its audience. The Conservative Language was creating negative feedback. Now that the study is out of the bag, the opposition are having a field day with it. The study was a waste of money. Just like these 2 threads are a similar waste of time.
  19. Maybe he supports the NDP? While a logical argument, I am laughing out loud.
  20. I am not certain how this discussion drifted from Kyoto to Holocaust. While their is a Zundel threat going this is thread creep:-). That said, the Germans were diligent record keepers. The Iranians are just current day Jew Haters denying anything Jewish.
  21. What if Afghans have a culture of greeting one another with gunfire?
  22. The Conservatives just disagreed with that date because that is when Trudeau went for his walk in the snow. Even better the committe said The 30th it is.. :-)
  23. That to me is part of the problem with the military view of the 3 block strategy. Soldiers can't be caretakers and protectors while at war with an assymetrical enemy. Many Afghans see their country as their place not ours. The freedom of movement is blocked by the various forces that hand out aid and security candy and wheat. These aren't an educated people and many don't even speak the same language. So you might have been calling out the warnings in Pashtun and they aren't. I don't want to see Canadian Soldiers killing any innocents. And the Army knows that the repurcussions of such killings go further then the initial sorry. THere is a problem with the procedure if innocent Afghans are being shot up in a Canadian/Nato roadblock. There has to be a different reason the information isn't getting through and Afghans are running the block if they aren't bombers. Regardless of whom you are calling a coward here, I am upset with these same people challenging our "reputation" in the field. There needs to be made corrections. We are trying to protect people who walk into a dangerous situation and these people will be shot and killed. So are these innocents or are they Mujahideen? If they are innocents, then why isn't their a layer of Afghan Army Protection at each road block. Whom should stop straying Afghans?
  24. Peggy Nash sent the committees two possible dates. February 2nd and February 14th. The CPC said, we can't have the 2nd because it's groundhog Day and Canada would be laughed at. We are the country of the Beaver not the Groundhog. The Liberals said, it can't be the 14th. That's Valentines Day and though everyone loves Canada, it just wouldn't be right to infringe upon cupid turf. That would be politically incorrect. Peggy then Suggested that the Holiday fall on Flag Day on the 15th. But the BQ said no. Screw off. So Peggy went back to the Libs and Conservatives and suggested the 9th as a compromise. The Conservatives said, that it might be ok. But the Liberals couldn't agree with the Conservatives because they were conservatives and if anyone should take a day put forward by the NDP it should be them, because they take all the NDP ideas whether they want them or not. The conservatives got tough and said, no way the 9th is ours and the day off will be the 9th. The Liberals, wanting a day couldn't accept this, and felt a compromise was needed. Currently the 14th was just too controversial, but a ground hog is close to a beaver and maybe the 2nd wasn't so bad. The NDP thought the 9th wasn't too bad and put their support behind the 9th. But the BQ blocked that thinking that the 2nd was far better and they figure that a ground hog was an under appreciated animal. Then the BQ and the Liberals got into a fight over whether they should get the holiday when the groundhog sees his shadow or not. Seeing that the committee was in stalemate. A compromise was made again. Since the Groundhog, wasn't a bad creature, and since we want to respect the groundhog, but not get in the limelight of Groundhog day, we could choose a day that was Symbolic of the ground hog. So they decided to pick a day from the 20th onward. The Conservatives still thought the 9th wasn't to bad, and in the confusion of agreement all parties then choose the two dates together and thus the holiday February 29th.
  25. I vote against it. No individual is informed enough to make a decision on Kyoto or GHG. People are elected to do the work for us and make decisions on our behalf. If I am going to make these decisions, then I don't need Harper or Baird. If Harper makes the decision to give this money away then it is up to the John Baird to act on behalf of the government. Not one piece of paper on creating a plan to address the Kyoto treaty has been presented by the government. We should wait until they propose their plan.
