  1. Lol. I explained this very thing to him. Even posted a picture of cellular respiration! He still doesn't get it. It's sad
  2. Lol. I guess there isn't hope for you.
  3. Great link. Sums up everything I have said. Humans DO produce CO2 but the amount they create pales in conparison to production from burning fossil fuels. Glad to see you now agree that humans do produce it. Maybe there is hope for On Guard too? I know waldo is a lost cause but here's hoping!
  4. Thats what I thought waldingo. This conundrum is just too much for you to handle. You see the obvious error but the warmie mindset but instead of addressing it head on you choose to deflect as per your normal ways. No derailing here...just showing the mindset as you asked in the OP. Can't handle that either I guess. Ah well...this was fun.
  5. Here's a couple... Really waldingo? Keep up a little before you emabarrass yourself. Ooops...too late. I'm just waiting for you to say it. Do humans produce CO2...yes or no? Come on bud....as you always quote from your favorite movie....STEP UP. I see you are in a conundrum here. Do you say YES and admit that your warming cronies were wrong thus showing how intelligent conversation is difficult on this matter when these people clearly don't understand the science and create the warmie mindset that we have all come to know. OR....do you say NO and make your warmies happy by joining in their absolute ignorance. Which is it?
  6. Yes or no waldo....do humans produce C02? This is a very simple question that your chronies say no to. Come on big guy answer the question without deflection, dishonesty or any of your other notorious traits.
  7. Still waiting on your answer Mr Deflection.
  8. 9 words and not a yes or no to be found. Go figure.
  9. Would 2 billion people produce less C02 than 7 billion people? Your response needs to be one word, either yes or no.
  10. WOW.....what did I just say in my post that YOU quoted. Here's a repeat for you buddy: I really put it bold and even the special part in red so you could read it. Are you that obtuse or just being totally belligerent to inflame the situation? Carry on with your dishonesty waldingo. You are priceless.
  11. Don't bother. He doesn't get it. He doesn't understand the difference between a chemical reaction and changing states. I have tried to explain this to him and he's not having any. CO2 is produced by humans. If we have 2 billion people on this earth versus 7 billion that means that we would have less CO2 production. Obviously that production pales in comparison to the CO2 being produced by burning fossil fuels but its still produced nonehtheless.
  12. I don't know as I don't work for the CRA. I'm just repeating what I was told. The first thing that comes to mind is the off shore accounts that the CRA was trying to crack down on with their cheat hotline. Not sure if those guys were evadeing 'altogether' but still signifciant enough. For the most part these guys avoid taxes when sending it off shore and then will renegotiate when they want to bring the money back into Canada. The CRA realizes its better to get something than nothing.
  13. I know. I was referring to tipping in general...not Uber drivers. When I first used Uber I didn't know that tips were included and gave the guy $5. He looked at me like I was on drugs. Luckily he told me about the tipping and saved me a bunch of akward moments that week.
  14. Yes. I was once told by the CRA that they are too busy catching people who are simply avoiding taxes all together to even look at people somewhat claiming things.
  15. Not really. If I hand out a $20 bill for a tip then there is no trail there. That's why waiters and waitressess don't like the tipping via credit card as they now have to account for tips on their taxes.
  16. The guy in the US explained it to me. The driver makes 85% of the fare which is charged directly to your credit card by Uber. Uber then pays the driver. I'm not saying they do issue a T4 but there definitely is a paper trail showing these drivers get paid which would lead me to believe they are liable to pay taxes....whether they do or not is unknown.
  17. Why is that? Its not like he/she is collecting cash.
  18. I was saying its different from a taxi in that the taxis at airports all line up in that lane and you have to go to that spot to get one. Uber can pick you up in the regular pick up lanes which taxis not under contract with the airport cannot do.
  19. Calgary and Edmonton are trying to decide on using it as well. However, there are petitions out there and I can't see the cities saying no if it gets the support
  20. I am aware of how Uber operates and the people that drive the cars. I trust they had similar issues in every other big city they started in. Perhaps Ottawa will be different...I don't know but if Uber starts catching on in Canada like it has in the US then the people of Ottawa will probably force the rules. I heard that Uber was coming to Edmonton but haven't seen in yet. The big news is how it would affect our airport taxi service. Currently only one or a certain number of taxi companies have the contract to pick people up at the airport and no other taxis can get in there. As such the rates are quite high for airport service. However, there was thought that Uber wouldn't be restricted as its technically not a taxi and doesn't need to pick you up at the taxi lane since you can make direct contact with your driver.
  21. It is awesome. All the control from your Iphone. If you want to cancel the service then hit cancel and its done. If the one you picked is too far away then you resend the request and try to find one closer. Its technology that taxi companies should have implemented years ago.
  22. Lol. I'm with you on this one. I'm glad to hear they got them but they might not be for everyone.
  23. First...your link is a mobile link which doesn't work on PC. Here is the link for that: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/north/7-n-w-t-2-yukon-first-nations-publish-chief-council-salaries-1.2783324 Second....its great to see these examples of properly run First Nations. As the one cheif said: "But then regarding transparency, reporting and being accountable, Deh Gah Got'ie First Nation here in Providence, we really don't have anything to hide, and if you look at our finances you'll find that we have very little money to work with." If they have nothing to hide and money is that tight then I have no problem focusing on their money issues. Third....there are still a number of FN who have not filed. Does this mean they do have something to hide? If you need more money then you need to prove the money you have is being properly spent.
  24. No chance? It is currently working all across the US and has done just fine. I don't understand how the politics of Ottawa would be differnt than any other big city in the US but maybe it is. Regardless, I used Uber in the US earlier this year and thought it was the cats meow. You order the service through an app which confirms your car and shows you exactly where it is on a map at all times. You can sit and wait inside until your car arrives. When it does it sends a text saying its there and will only allow you to enter (thus allieviating the cab stealing we often see). If politics isn't a part of the equation then I think its the cab companies that have everything to fear as Uber will crush them. EDIT: The part about Uber that I foudn the best was that no money traded hands. Everything went right to your credit card and an email receipt was sent right away. The tip is included. I rarely have cash on me for taxis and waiting for them to pull out and use their mobile is painful at times.
