Valid points. But the Europeans had the making of modern agriculture, the NA natives did not. The Europeans domesticated animals, the NA natives... did not. The Europeans made use of the wheel, water pump, large ocean fairing vessels, the NA natives.. did not. The Europeans had extensive written languages expressing poetry, stories, fiction, struggles with understanding the nature of existence, the NA natives.. did not. The Europeans had fine art work, large cities with national borders and schooling, universtities, hospitals, libraries, municipal, regional and national governent infrastructure, the NA natives... did not. There are alot of reasons for these large differences in progress and racism is not one of them. First you have to understand and admit to the differences before we can talk about why there were these large differences.

The Data for global warming was shown to be clearly defective and your only comments is about starving Polar Bears (who aren't starving) and unemployed ice breakers? Do you have any proof of this? And who is advocating ignorance of studying our climate? The only one's here that are advocating ignorance are the one's who seemingly are asking people to 'keep moving, nothing to see here'. I don't think anyone denies that climate changes, the questions is if it is getting warmer because of CO2 or not. So far, it appears that CO2 and Man's contributions of CO2 to the atmosphere have very, very little to do with what the climate is doing - if anything at all. Certainly the globe cooling 0.7C last year appears to contradict the findings among many many other things. But I guess if you are a 'true believer' then these things are all very trivial and do not matter. Afterall, there are the starving Polar Bears and unemployment lines of the ice breakers union to worry about right?

I am not foretelling of a disaster or anything, but I think there is a large correction happening. I think Infrastructure investment can help Canada compete over the longer term. That said, I'd still rather not go into deficit at all. I'm just saying that if we do, let's have something to show for it.

I think a good plan would be to go into deficit, but for the right reasons. Cut non-essential programs, but go into a 1-2 year deficit with a massive inflow of infrastructure spending. Make it a National Priority. I dentify upgrades needed and get going on it. The time to increase spending on Infrastructure is in down-times, not during high times when the government would have to compete with private industry for skilled workers. The Regions should identify target areas and the work should get started. In tough times there are opportunities and I think this one may be a winner.

Incorrect assumptions on three levels: 1) Japanese cars made in Japan (or at least not in NA) are subject to duties. 2) Japanese automakers generally do not have unions so 'retirement benefits' have no direct costs to them 3) A significant portion of 'Japanese' vehicles are made in NA.
