  1. Correction on my last, they can differentiate between regular Muslims and the Taliban. Most CF members aren't bigots despite having alot of experience from tours in the third world. I believe we even have some Muslims serving in the CF.
  2. Does anyone else think that Mikedavid should stop calling Canada a third world country? Or at the very least give him the proper definition of what a third world nation is.
  3. ScottSA, I have spoken to a numerous amount of soldiers who have done tours in Afghanistan and very few have a bigotry towards all Muslims in general. It's interesting that they can differentiate between the Taliban and Osama Bin Laden and you can't. May I remind you that many people of German origin fought in World War 2, as did Japanese Canadian's. However ScottSA has decided to paint all Muslims with the same brush.
  4. Short answer, alot. Talk about a foriegn horde eh.
  5. When I did my BMQ there were many people there who were born outside of the country. Your point is once again completely moot. No we aren't, do you have any idea what a third world country is. So do these immigrants go into underground tunnels to plot our destruction? This is why a debate on immigration is impossible, because it always becomes more about irrational fear than anything else. The current governor of Michigan was actually born in Canada.
  6. So an immigrant can fight and die for this country yet never have the chance to run for political office. What's the issue, you're against immigration. As well the Maori's are not immigrants. New Zealand still has a high quality of life, and I believe its economy is doing well too. If you want to show how New Zealand is now third world by all means go ahead.
  7. I could agree with that, however the poster in question is attacking all Muslims, and it seems to be a fetish of his. Want a debate on what level of immigration is appropriate and how it should be conducted, sure, but when it turns into a thread about how those goddamn immigrants are destroying our country it turns into bigotry.
  8. We're not setting up concentration camps, we're simply creating the conditions to open them up in the future as long as we can convince everyone of the imminent danger that all Muslims pose. Understood...
  9. I believe that the Prime Minister had in fact appointed her to run for the party in that riding. So once again your point is shown to be moot.
  10. Isn't the whole point of MMP to alleviate that kind of situation? Your living there why exactly? I believe it's called triage. Those who need immediate healthcare recieve it while those with a cold wait. Their was a stroke in the family and I can tell you that we got immediate medical attention, and so far we have no complaints about the current system. Either way it beats having to lose the entire family business in order to pay medical bills.
  11. I can't recall Hezbollah winning seats in Germany or New Zealand, however continue to update me on the situation.
  12. Depends, I figure that a youth in Alberta is more likely to go Conservative. Keep in mind alot of people get alot of their political views from parents, and will often vote however their parents vote.
  13. Maybe everyone watched Ali and thought it was a kick ass name, but then again that's for Muhammed. Well I'd have to see the complete statistics to see how children in Great Britian are being named, and what number are named Muhammed, Stanley, John, etc.
  14. She got elected with close to 50% of the vote, that's hardly hijacking a riding. If the majority of the riding is not Sikh or Liberal than the Conservatives should have won by a landslide. By the way stop referring to visibile minorities as tribes. Ever been to rural Alberta, they vote for the Conservatives in landslides but I would never call all rural whites a part of a tribe. Was that ScottSA? Either way I could claim to be the Queen of England on this forum if I really wanted to. You know why he probably didn't, because it probably wasn't true. Oddly enough the one person you pointed out isn't even technically an immigrant since she was born in Winnipeg. Unless all people from Winnipeg are now considered immigrants. Subtle xenophobia rares its ugly head again. Perhaps we should make it illegal for immigrants to run for political office, or better yet ensure people like Ruby Dhalla don't get into positions of power we should put in place more stringent laws. So what exactly do you think we should do to ensure that someone like Ruby Dhalla doesn't get into parliament? I have a feeling that the reason why their are so many Pakistani political parties in Pakistan is because they are in Pakistan, the same goes with all of those countries you named.
  15. If they're getting Red Tories I would still consider them left wing.
  16. According to who? So we're not a democracy because of taxes? Oddly enough this third world country has very good quality of life. No, you spend taxes for things like National Defence, Law Enforcement, Emergency Services, Health Care, etc. However I love how all of the problems you face in life can be traced back to immigrants.
  17. In generalities I wouldn't consider the Green's a conservative party. I also need more than a few sentences from an editorial to convince me that they are in fact right wing.
  18. What's wrong, do you have a problem with women and visible minorities? You have nothing to worry about, you don't live in the Middle East. That sounds very delicious, however many growing economies in the world have MMP and PR.
  19. So let me get this straight, Ruby Dhalla cheated here way into parliament by getting elected with a plurality of votes in her riding? The really idiotic thing is that Ruby Dhalla herself is not an immigrant, she was born in Winnipeg. Have they elected anyone? That's a very bad example for why MMP is terrible. The reason why is because under MMP the Bloc would have fewer seats alloted to them due to the fact they didn't have a large share of the popular vote. If anything we would end up seeing the Reform Party as the official opposition and the PC's as the third largest party in parliament.
  20. So the only two options are PR and FPTP? I think that we should move towards a run off system. So in this system in order to win a seat one must win 50%+1. During the first round of voting people can vote for whichever candidate they believe would represent them best. If no candidates win 50%+1 then the top two candidates will move to the second round of voting. I think this system would work best, and it would allow the constituents of the riding to elect people they truly want to represent them.
  21. I remember reading Pat Buchanan's book "The Death of the West", and it was basically about the same topic. While I'd agree that we need to do more to ensure that extremism doesn't find a base, however the last thing we should do is to start painting all Muslims with the same brush. There have always been groups of people talking about the coming of the barbarian horde. Keep in mind that Steyn predicted that Bush would win the 2000 election with a landslide, and that it would be relatively easy to pacify Iraq after the 2003 invasion.
  22. The Green Party isn't conservative. I think that the whole use of left/right is fairly irrelevant now considering the fact that their are so many different schools of thought with regards to political thought. A good site to check out that gives explainations with regards to political ideology is moral politics. http://www.moral-politics.com/xpolitics.as...lIdeologies.All

  24. The Judean People's Front.
  25. So you just happen to dream of seeing large minority groups disappear from the west?
