2007 Ontario Election Data Analysis
Canadian Blue replied to mikedavid00's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
In my hometown the population is about 85-90% white, do you want to go on a rant about that as well. That's odd, even in ridings in Edmonton with large immigrant populations we saw the election of Conservative MP's. Not to mention Rahim Jaffer and several other minority MP's who sit in the Tory caucus. -
You mean the politicians we elected supported the Charter. If Canadian's didn't like the charter all that would be required is for them to vote out the politicians. As for totalitarian government, I think your smoking the pipe. America doesn't beat us hands down in terms of democracy, if you didn't notice the president of the United States was basically appointed by the supreme court.

ScottSA, since you called Codepink traitors what type of punishment would like to hand down to them?

Yeah, ever since becoming pro-terrorism they've really been going downhill. Oddly enough I can't find that on their website. Why does everything always lead to immigration?

2007 Ontario Election Data Analysis

Can you get us some statistics to show how first and second generation immigrants voted both provincially and federally over the years. As well you can't claim that 100% of ethnic ridings voted Liberals simply because: This is also pretty rich since you were telling everyone to not vote for the Conservatives. So if anything the election went the way you probably wanted. -

Immigration is federal not provincial. Ontario isn't a one party state, the Conservatives screwed up. -
A Fall 2007 Federal Election?
Canadian Blue replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The panel was a very good move by Harper, however I hope that for Dions sake he doesn't oppose it. To do so would be idiotic, and I would hope the Liberals would support a non-partisan panel to look into the mission instead. -
So, are you enlisting your children in the Marine Corps? However it's interesting how anyone who criticizes government policy should be considered a traitor, by that reasoning we could lock millions of people in Canada.

Now your contradicting yourself by saying that the immigrants who want Sharia law and faith based schools are small groups within a minority, thus they don't really hold that much powerful. That's a pretty absurd thing to say. I'd think that many immigrants would somewhat detest the Communist Party due to its atheist leanings. -
Leafless what kind of democracy do you want exactly?

Mixed Member Proportional representation

That government Hitler led was actually a coalition government, they required the support of a conservative party in order to become a majority. -

I thought you were against faith based schools because they play right into the immigrants hands, if the immigrants have this secret agenda then why not vote Tory and setup these terrible ethnic schools. -
It's called representative democracy, you elect representatives to represent your constituency. There are many forms of democracy, however respresentative is the most common. No it prohibits racial discrimination.

GREENS SAY CRIME BILL WRONG ! legalize cannabis !
Canadian Blue replied to shavluk's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I'm getting somewhat tired of the whole "Bush-Harper" argument. If you have a problem with Harpers policy then argue against it based on its merits, don't resort to inane comparisons between a foriegn leader. I'm all for legalizing marijuana but I don't see how constantly comparing Bush to Harper is productive in the debate. -
Well I'm against any constitution or charter simply because I don't think it's required to have a successful democracy. How so?

How about this, in May of 2006 how many Islamic extremists killed people in Belguim as compared to right wing extremists. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7040201.stm -
You have a right to complain here and in public, thus we now know why liberal democracy is good.

I feel embarrased for the people who can't figure out why their are so many deaths in the conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. Well we're very lucky that the United States caught the mastermind behind 9/11, now without Saddam Hussein there will be no more terrorist attacks ever again. But I can't help but wonder what ever happened to that Osama guy. Well whose brilliant idea was it to get into Iraq in the first place if the result would be so many more Islamic terrorist attacks? -
Political "Green Belt" Emerging in Ontario ?
Canadian Blue replied to kengs333's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
No, however it could be assumed that Red Tories have been migrating to the Greens. Not all members of the Progressive Conservatve party are "right wing". I'm simply basing this off of where the popular vote ended up migrating to on election night, and I think that even without the Greens the New Democrats would not have picked up 7 seats. They might have gained two or three, but not seven. -
Political "Green Belt" Emerging in Ontario ?
Canadian Blue replied to kengs333's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
No, their is an ideological difference between the NDP and the Green Party, and if we look at the popular vote it showed that the percentage of the vote rose equally for both the Greens and NDP. You're presuming that Green party supporters would be NDP if their was no Green Party, however the Greens have been successful at getting support from the three parties. So to say that if their was no Green Party the NDP would have picked up an extra 7 seats isn't correct and is simply based on an assumption. -
Conservatives keeping list of Jews

Not to mention the radical liberal group known as "scientists". I believe that support for Hezbollah actually increased due to the bombing. If anything it added fuel to the fire, so perhaps they should have chose a seperate solution. -
I believe a study of England, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada, all showed that despite private healthcare waiting times were not drastically reduced. Perhaps what we need is more healthcare funding instead of tax cuts, or at the very least reforming the health care system, and put an increased focus on health wellness.

Yeah, I was surprised to see so many people getting killed in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. It might have something to do with the conflicts going on there today, but I'll simply assume that it's all because of Islam because thats the most simplistic answer out there. -

Canadian Blue replied to kengs333's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Hardly, the results showed that the Liberals and PC's both lost a portion of the popular vote, and it evenly went to the Greens and NDP. If their was no Green Party, I'd imagine those people would just stay home. However this could also be the result of discontent with the current state of the political system.
