Harper's plagiarized 2003 Iraq speech
Canadian Blue replied to myata's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
So you fully support allowing the Tamil Tigers being allowed to operate in Canada? But then again keep in mind that most Liberals probably the view the latter two as better than George W Bush. -
I think that every single leader since Pearson has screwed up Canada, the one that I can think of who didn't do long term damage was Joe Clark.

Yes, I can definitely see how saying that America is similar to Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan is a valid comparison in Liberal eyes. No they didn't. Perhaps you can cite this growth of support. It was probably somewhere around the time that the Liberals were talking about how we were all morally superior to those nasty Americans. Mind giving a link. However it's good to note that you along with the Liberal Party seem to think that Harper has bad judgement, and then openly state that the Tamil Tigers, an organization which has committed genocide, suicide bombing, terrorism, rape, and assassination, should be allowed to fundraise in Canada. -

As stated before, we likely couldn't have because the Canadian military was chronically underfunded. Refresh my memory but didn't Jean Chretien intervene for a certain man by the name of Khadr in 1996. -

Didn't Carrolyn Bennett say the American's were behaving in a manner similar to the Japanese at Pearl Harbor. No, no, you simply stated that any politicians who would morally support the US was in bed with Bush. Whereas I stated that their was nothing wrong with hoping that once the invasion began that those of us in Canada would hope America the best since America is better than Iraq. I retract my statement. The Liberal Party is openly supportive of the Tamil Tigers being taken off the Terror List, and would allow the organization which has been known to partake in genocide, suicide bombing, using child soldiers, and rape, can raise money in Canada. http://www.durdesh.net/news/Article248.html -
Difference being said poster probably hated the Liberals for their policies. Either way I'm not going to get into semantics. I think the fiscally conservative wing is gonna be MIA for abit. The fact is without Paul Martin, John Manley, Roy Maclaren, etc. the LPC might be relegated to a rump of left wing welfare liberals. That is unless Michael Ignatieff were to take the reins of the leadership. However even then, I think if Dion were to lose the election it would be an even greater battle trying to get him to step down.

http://network.nationalpost.com/np/blogs/f...plagiarism.aspx Stephane Dion should immediately be expelled for copying Suzuki's green introduction word for word. -
I wouldn't mind that. Personally I find that most parties are now moving to the centre which makes it hard to find a half decent party to support. I support the CPC only because they generally share the closest positions I do, however I wish they were more liberal on victimless crimes. No the CPC is still centre-right, but the Liberals are moving farther and farther to the left.

How much overspending was their exactly once you take away transfer payments, military spending, and increased funding for law enforcement. All this proves to us is that the Liberals are great at underfunding the RCMP, CSIS, the CBSA, and CSIS, while ensuring Avi Lewis and Tal Bachman get money to go to exotic countries. Probably your continued goading on about it, and then criticizing any politician who morally supports the coalition and hopes a secular democracy prevails in Iraq. I never stated that Iraq was responsible for September 11, I simply stated that Liberals often despise America so much that they mistakenly believe America is worse than Saddam Hussein. But I wouldn't be surprised if some people on the left in this forum would openly hope that Kadhr gets a medal upon his return to Canada for killing an American medic. -

Canadian Blue replied to myata's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
No, the difference is that Harper spends on things like border security, national defence, and law enforcement. Whereas the Liberals will cut funding to law enforcement and the CBSA, deplete our armed forces once again and make our military a laughingstock on the world, while at the same time massively increase funding to the CBC, Young People Fucking, and special interest groups. Then to top it all off will institute another ridiculous gun control law that will more than likely eat up hundreds of millions of dollars once again. That being said I prefer the government who ensures our soldiers, border guards, and police officers have proper equipment to do their job and defend themselves as compared to the government that will deny funding because they don't want to look like the "despicable Americans." Yes, and I've noticed many Liberals openly despise the coalition of the willing and the Kurdish people fighting for democracy in the north of Iraq. Needless to say if I have to choose between putting my moral support with a coalition made up of liberal democracies or supporting the Hussein family I will always choose the former. -

Come on people it's obvious that Harper is in bed with John Howard. The Liberals better start highlighting the obvious evil acts committed by this Conservative-Liberal like government. PS: John Howard was the leader of the Australian Liberals. However for some reason Dion kept on talking about how Harper was in bed with the Republicans despite the fact said speech came from the head of the Australian Liberals. -

http://network.nationalpost.com/np/blogs/f...plagiarism.aspx Huh, the horror. Stephane Dion should immediatley be "expelled." Either way the Liberals should immediately give up their name, so a party that actually supports liberalism could take up the mantle. This actually comes from Boris Johnson, but I think we can change a few words that would perfectly describe the current Liberal Party under Dion: Stephane Dion incarnates all the nannying, high-taxing, high-spending schoolmarminess of the Liberal Party. Dion is the high priest of our paranoid, mollycoddled, risk-averse, airbagged, booster-seated culture of political correctness and 'elf 'n' safety fascism -
Yes, and I continue to be amazed at the Liberal's outrage that 14 year olds who murder might get tougher sentences, and then argue that farmers should be put in prison for selling their wheat privately.

I'd assume it was because the Liberals found that it would be too damaging. But I'm pretty certain he hasn't changed his pro-torture viewpoints. Yes that's why New Democratic/Liberal MP Bob Rae brought this up. Meh, I find Harper to be better suited to be PM. His mantra doesn't soley consist of bashing the United States all the time. But I will say this about Harper if had to choose between buying our soldiers flak vests or giving increased funding to Young People Fucking, I have full confidence in him funding our soldiers. The same can't be said of the Liberal Party who openly despise our military and whenever looking for cuts will always look to the Defence budget first. I doubt it, more or less because we wouldn't have the resources to be in Iraq. His position was probably closer to the Swedish Liberal Peoples Party which stated open moral support for the coalition, and we might have provided some economic aid to help with the building of Iraq. Are you talking about the withdrawal date which was set at 2011. All that's happening is that the lionshare of troops will leave the country, however we'll still have a contingent to continue training the Army and Police. Probably not, more or less because Canada at the time didn't have the military equipment or resources to go to Iraq. -
Harper's plagiarized 2003 Iraq speech
Canadian Blue replied to myata's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Yep, and the current deputy leader of the Liberals supported the Iraq invasion and torture. Not to mention the fact that the guy who opened up the attack today [bob Rae] nearly destroyed Ontario with his pseudo-socialist policies. If I have to choose between a scandal where Harper's speechwriter plagarized lines from Howard or Bob Rae's obvious record of incompetence in government I'll consider that latter to be of more importance. -

We were engaged in Kosovo under Chretien, albeit the military was extremely underfunded at the time and had to get support from other nations. That is unless you're talking about the independence Kosovo recently obtained. But either way I doubt you've even bothered to read up on the three conflicts you mentioned. -
That's one reason why I support the coming free trade pact with the EU, it'll open up the Canadian economy to Europe as well. The end result will be that we won't be nearly as dependent on the US when it comes to our economic growth. You gotta love that the Liberals who are supposedly more centrist than the NDP have higher business taxes than both Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
-
What I mean is that if a government has reasonable taxation rates, etc. Which I think Manitoba does. Government can generally screw things up big time, but if they were to continue along the same path without making major changes they can't always prevent a recession.

Legalize Marijuana and Prostitution
Canadian Blue replied to PoliticalCitizen's topic in Political Philosophy
I'd support both the legalization of marijuana and prostitution. As long as we have strict regulations and laws in place to deal with those who abuse the new freedoms granted we should be alright.
