  1. Your response was a bit knee jerk but I will add my thoughts to what I think you are saying. Dobbs reports that 90% of the Gross National Product is outsourced to cheap labour around the world. How does that create jobs in the USA? It creates cheap labour at Wal Mart coupled with labour violations that their employees are fighting on a daily basis. Corporate America does not create the majority of the jobs, it's a well known fact that small business creates the jobs.
  2. After following American elections for the past 10 years I am amazed at the media down there who are now lobbying to sway the right wing to vote the current regime out. Lou Dobbs is my new hero. This guy is a millionaire a few times over and was the host of CNN's Money Line (bored me to death). Dobbs is a rich and powerful man who has stepped up to the plate to speak up for the middle class which is, let's face it, most of us. Why should he? He is obviously a man of deep thought, integrity and cares deeply for his fellow man and the future of his country. It seems too that when Dobbs took on this role, the rest of the media jumped on board and we started to see more and more networks following suit in the quest to oust Bush. As an immigrant myself I was, at first, disturbed when he started to speak out about Mexicans illegally entering the U.S. My Dad came to Canada as a skilled laborourer who would not have had to work for less money than Canadian machinists. And therein lies the difference and the current problem. Dobbs is fighting Corporate America from bringing the standard of living down to the poverty line for most of us, because what goes on down there, comes right back up here.
  3. I really appreciate that! Thanks
  4. Thank you Canadian Blue! I work with small business to access funding and business counseling. For the life of me, I could have sworn you were being sarcastic! Well as I am new here and am not familiar with personalities, I took Canadian Blue's post at face value. Excuse my ignorance.

  6. The human race has to have "righties and lefties" as we need the balance to survive as civilized societies. The righties keep the world's economy going and the lefties ensure that they do it humanely. Long reigns of heavily weighted conservatism results in the majority living in poverty which leads to anarchy. As witnessed with the USSR, a long reign of communism resulted in enmasse human rights violations and extreme poverty. My contribution to the balance, is to support the left. I would not go so far as to say that the all the posters who lean to the right are wrong but (IMHO) I view their philosophies as tangible contributions in sustaining the balance of our survival. Having said all that - I for one, would love to own a Hummer but as a person who runs a government funded social program, that will never happen, they don't pay me enough!
  7. I did not mean to convey a "hit and smear" tactic. I sincerely thought the deep throat remark WAS funny! I wasn't being sarcastic. I chuckled as I may BE an idiot but one with a sense of humour. If I were to try and back up my general left wing opinions you would be reading a dissertation that would bore you to death. Your OPINION is that there was no difference between the parties in the Provinces you have lived in. How long would it take you to back up those statements?
  8. Give us the inside scoop deep throat!!! No inside scoop, just plain common sense! Thanks for the laugh though!
  9. Their cuting taxes, giving handouts to familys, cracking on crims, reducing wait times, and brining honesty to government.
  10. That is a silly thing to say. It is no better than saying a man who does not hounour his marriage vows (i.e. cheats) is not fit for office. A politician who cheats on his wife will cheat on you (the taxpayer) without batting an eyelash. Dishonesty is dishonesty no matter what form it takes or who is being betrayed.
  11. If an ordinary male public employee made a remark like that in regards to another employee he could very well be fired. So why do we have to tolerate this behaviour at the highest levels of Government? I say kick their asses out in the next election and 50% of the Canadian population may just have a big say in that. Smart mouthed jerk!
  12. I'll second that! And even my CAT!
  13. I agree - he is admitting to a crime that could put him in jail (not sure about the statute of limitations though). I could see the logic if he was remorsful and begging forgiveness but that does not appear to be the case. I suspect this is an exercise in damage control among evangelical Christians that could stay home on voting day because of disgust over the Foley scandal. These are the only people that are likely to be swayed by the 'victim' angle because they are already extremely misinformed on all issues relating to homosexuality. Exactly! You put it so much better than I.
  14. No, being abused as a child IMHO is no excuse to abuse anybody else. If you're not completely insane then you know right from wrong and that's the bottom line. The Priest is alive as he was interviewed yesterday and admits fondling Foley and that's what I find so hard to believe. This AHole is only 69 years of age. Why would he just up and give an interview unabashedly admitting to molesting a child? He feels, he says, that Foley should just let bygones be bygones. And this, just 3 weeks prior to the mid term elections? It's just too bizzarre to be real. This creep was paid off!
  15. http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/10/19/fol...iest/index.html So now we are all supposed to feel sorry for Foley that he was abused by a Priest and Americans should all go "Oh well then, in light of this, let's all vote for the Republicans". This was the Priest's addmission, Foley obviously doesn't want to engage in the details. Makes one wonder how much they paid the Priest.
  16. Yes, you are right, it is a terrible generalization. I should have thought it out a little more carefully before I posted that!
  17. If I were American I would vote Democrat without a doubt. Hope all Americans vote for the Dems as what the American Government does affects us all. For years I didn't see much of a difference between the Dems and Repubs but this last 6 years have proved that this brand of Republicans have a far different agenda on all fronts.
  18. Just want to add here that I am not anti American in any way. I do not like their politics as it currently stands and I do get angry when I observe Americans acting arrogant as tourists, as anybody would. I could never be that small minded as to hate a whole nation of people. I have travelled in the States and met many wonderful people. The above is just an analysis of perhaps a couple of the reasons why an anti American mindset has developed.
  19. I have deleted the whole post. Shame on me.
  20. My favourite book is 'Jane Eyre' Charlotte Bronte, total fiction and the only message I can think of that it may be trying to convey is: never marry a man who you suspect has his first wife locked up in the attic!
  21. The Repubs are seriously down in the polls and IMO unless they can pull something miraculous out of a hat, they will lose the house. But then there's always the Diebold voting machines...this may be their miracle once again.
  22. I was unaware the dems had plans to increase taxes and major terrorist attacks seem to be fading out along with Foley. I do wonder however, if the Republicans have something wonderous up their sleeve regarding the nuke attempt in North Korea. Or perhaps something else that will save us all from the evils of the rest of the world that they don't own or control.
  23. A terrorist attack would probably do the trick. And welcome! LOL Thanks for the welcome jdobbin. Looks like a great site and what's even better "it's Canadian"!
  24. Newbie here. Just wondering if anybody has any ideas on what the Bush regime will come up with to take the light off Foley and raise the Republican ratings in the polls? Can't play the terrorist alert game this time as it's old. Wallace tried to nail Clinton on the why the Dems didn't get Osama, that didn't work either.
