Dear Toro, Indeed, and that is also why we are happy to sell it to them.Charles Anthony, When Mammon says it is OK. It certainly isn't going to happen 'just because it is the right thing to do'...

Dear Wilber, Traditionally, Israel likes the ratio to be about 10 Arabs to one Israeli, civilians or not. The question Black Dog seems to be asking is: "Will this response be effective at curbing the power of, or eliminating Hizbollah?" I think the obvious answer is...no. They will likely have a larger membership when the smoke clears. Mind you, Lebanon might be the best chance Israel has in the region, as it is pretty much the least 'hard-line Muslim' nation in the region. There has been some overtures of 'self-policing' by the Lebanese gov't concerning Hizbollah, which is a step in the right direction.
-
Dear Argus, Perhaps to some few. I would expect that the loss of livelihood to some that were not in support of Hizbollah may sway some. Perhaps they should be blaming Hizbollah, but usually they would simply blame the ones who blew up their business/roads and bridges first. Perhaps some will blame both.

Dear Charles Anthony, I wish more people would do this, rather than clutter up the board with multiple threads of the same topic. For example, there are currently 9 threads on 'native issues', and all of them are pretty much on one topic.
-
Dear geoffrey, That option was always on the table for the Lebanese gov't, but they never chose to take it.

Dear Charles Anthony, 'Prosperity' is a subjective term. If I owned everything, I would be prosperous, to the 'summum bonum' degree. Then I could watch everyone else starve to death, if that was my wont. I'll take up that challenge. (mind you, there was something else of yours I have been remiss in responding to, I'll try to find it.

Dear cybercoma, I have. If you can't eliminate an idea, you have to eliminate the people that think it. Something to keep in mind, even if I don't wish it. Black Dog know this to be true, and that it will only work if brutally and ruthlessly applied. Half measures won't work You can't just kill some of the people with the idea, (and wounding countless others in the process), because the others that have been wounded (or 'wronged') will often take up the same idea. By this choice of course of action, Israel is creating more enemies than they started out with.

Dear Argus, It does seem Argus is advocating genocide, but in this case I do not feel it is something that should be reported to the moderator. In fact, it raises a valid question. Are we facing a global religious war? If we are, that means most everyone is going to have to pick sides, and generally it is prudent to hope that you kill as many of your enemy as possible, with the aim of getting the rest of the other side to quit the fight, or die. Obviously, Argus has picked his side. He then goes on to outline a brutal, but arguably winning tactic.

Evironmental Damage from the War
theloniusfleabag replied to jdobbin's topic in The Rest of the World
War is hell. I think I like Moron-X's idea of a big game of risk, 3 drink minimum. That gets messy in a less fatal way. Usually. -
MAPLELEAFWEB BANS PEOPLE WITH ANTI-GOVERNMENT VIEWS!

Troll, If you are finished talking to yourself, you must understand that nothing you say is genuine, no matter the topic. Don't pretend that 'truth' means something to you. You revel in the fact that you have wasted 10 seconds of my time, nothing else. -

Canada's much-vaunted "neutrality"
theloniusfleabag replied to Argus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Dear Hicksey, Well, lets take Angola as an example. From the CIA world Factbook...https://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/ao.html Now, Angola has desirable resources, among them; oil, uranium, diamonds and gold. The US funded UNITA, led by a brutal would-be dictator, Savimbi. The Marxists, Cuban and Soviet funded, led MPLA. They each fought for control so they could 'fatten themselves' with those resources, both driven to extremely inhumane acts by greed. Problem: the US-backed dictator was worse. Which side would you pick? Should Canada have fought the US over the plight of the civilians in Angola? -
Ahmadinejad's Solution To Violence In Middle East
theloniusfleabag replied to Shady's topic in The Rest of the World
Dear Shady, Somewhat similar, but not exactly. Hitler wanted all the Jews dead, while Ahmadinejad is simply calling for the death of Israel. That is called 'policide', rather than genocide. Mind you, some extremists are calling for the death of Jews as well. As far as Chavez's support goes, that is just nuts. And usually 'nuts' hang together. -
Dear Argus, I have heard the old story that the Jews have been disliked because they invented 'interest'. However, on an interesting note, a Jew is forbidden to charge another Jew interest on a loan. So, interest was only for 'non-Jews, (or Gentiles, or Goyim) and I expect some people might have been bitter.

Canada's much-vaunted "neutrality"
theloniusfleabag replied to Argus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Dear Argus, I believe Pearson's quote when he won that prize was "The grim fact is that we prepare for war like precocious giants, and for peace like retarded pygmies" Firstly, I don't think the 'last 50 years' (of strife and conflict) can be fairly compared to even the last 5. Things are much different now.Secondly, no one really asks (or had asked) for a third party to broker a 'difficult negotiation' with a rebel force trying to overthrow a legitimate, or even illegitimate government. Canada's 'neutral peacekeeping and humanitarian' role was to defend the non-combatants, whomever they may be. True, they tried to 'broker peace', but if troops went in it was more likely that they weren't on any side, save those who wished to simply live their lives in peace, no matter who ended up running their country. The role of Canada used to be to provide food, shelter and water, and if possible, a 'fire-free zone', where people could go to be safe from the conflict that they often had little stake in. In Sudan and Rwanda, some of these efforts were terrible failures. However, times have changed, where everything isn't so clear, so cut& dried. It used to be a case of some Soviet (or US) rebel force trying to overthrow some proxy US (or Soviet) government somewhere, and it was easy to see that neither side held the 'moral high ground' (at least during the conflict, but often regardless) and it was easy to side with 'the innocent civilians'. Now, not so much. -
Dear Argus, A very good post, many things I agree with. For example; The truth used to matter to the media, (actually, it used to be 'the point' of the news), but now, as it has become beholden to Mammon, sales matter most. Indeed, However, some of your examples are downright silly, you should have done a bit of research... Both Liberia and Kuwait are (or were for decades) very friendly with the US, receiving every support, though they were two terribly oppressive regimes. It just wasn't generally know that the US backed up Liberia to the hilt, to protect it's own economic interests there. How would it look if the US had said, "Look, Liberia(or Taylor), we back you 100%, but we don't want you in the UN because you are evil". One other point for now,... Actually, this, and the Chinese crushing of the Ouighers were high on Osama Bin Laden's list of grievances.I wish you had spent a little time on the actual differences between Islam and Judaism, like how the Koran states that yes, the Jews were once the chosen people of God, and that they believe in the first few books of the Bible, but feel the Jews have 'turned away from god' by not accepting his latest 'prophet'. Just so you know, the bible and the koran are really 'the root cause' of all the conflict we see. They are the ones that need to confronted, and if neccesary, destroyed.

Israel - The Most Hated Country Ever
theloniusfleabag replied to JehovasWrath's topic in The Rest of the World
Dear geoffrey, lol. I think Argus is bright enough not to take the 'flamebait'. Seems pretty obvious that our troll has taken a dislike to Argus though, as the recently banned 'member's' all had the same theme...now we see a long vitriolic attack on Israel...next, I suspect I'll see accusations of Argus 'running the board and deleting threads'... -
Dear Charles Anthony, Should have put the 'stealing' in quotes, because taxation is not against the law, so therefore not 'stealing'. Sure you do, you just have to make sure you win, and then re-write the law to call taxation 'stealing'. An anarchist might wish to do so, but the anarchist would have to wield an 'overwhelming force'...which would likely mean you would need a large force of people marching to the same tune...Mind you, that would be an oxymoron. "A large group of like-minded anarchists"...all of them putting aside some individual preferences for the greater good of the group...in that endeavour, one might accidentally create one of those horrible 'societies'...or worse...a 'nation'!

Speaking of queer, http://www.israelnationalnews.com/news.php3?id=109010 In case the link doesn't work, http://www.atzat-nefesh.org/an/english_site/support.asp they managed to slide in a link inside a 'news article' to a 'scientific reprogramming of homosexuality' site in an article related to 'the war'... from the same website, http://jonahweb.org/ It all seems so kooky... -
Israel - The Most Hated Country Ever
theloniusfleabag replied to JehovasWrath's topic in The Rest of the World
I think you spelled 'Jehovah' wrong. -
Dear Argus, What is your point? I would not be surprised for a second if Hizbollah 'dressed up' events to put things in the worst possible light. Apparently the Viet Cong in Indochina had no problem exhuming bodies of their own, sprinkling them with cattle blood and sending pictures of them to the foreign press as examples of 'French atrocities'. Worse, it inevitably worked. Remember the famous photo (and sculptues, stamps, etc) of the US Marines raising the flag on Iwo Jima? Staged for the cameras, the flag had been raised hours before. I have seen some pretty stupid things done in some countries, 'inconsistent with our standards', and sometimes common sense, is not unusual. However, it almost seems as though you are suggesting that no such bombing, or at least no casualties, has occured. I think that would be even more unlikely.

Dear FTA Lawyer, Thank you for setting the record straight. IThe information I posted was from a story on the CBC news, wish I had posted the link. Either I misread the article, or the article itself was erroneous. I do hope that the events of recent days leads to a serious overhaul of our justice system.
