  1. Indeed, that financial support is ostensibly for the welfare of the child, even if the parent and child chose to move to the booming metropolis of Kipp, AB. I am also in agreement with FTA Lawyer, to a certain degree, and I can certainly see how there must be some flexibility to make a 'judgement call' in some cases. Suppose, for example, a divorce happens because one spouse (lets say 'the wife') was abusive and/or a heavy drinker. After the divorce, perhaps the man becomes happier, more productive at work and gets a promotion/raise? If this person were 'unionized', and the pay raise came automatically, I would say that there might be a difference from such a person who has 'earned it' solely on their own accord.
  2. Dear Black Dog, I'll post this MTHEL stuff again, the links are worth reading...from... http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/wor...ets.htm#khaibar and...from...http://www.globalsecurity.org/space/systems/mthel.htm I believe NorthropGrumann is in charge of development, and additional info is available at their site.
  3. Dear BlackDog, As far as we know. In the field, anyway, though there was some suggestion in the Documentary "The Panama Deception" that the US tested laser weaponry there. However, what I mean to say is that MTHEL was successfully tested in 2002.
  4. from...http://www.cbc.ca/news/viewpoint/vp_weinrath/ If you have a link to your story contrary to this info, please post it.
  5. Sadly, there is no provision for the 'dangerous offender' classification to keep him locked up beyond his sentences. It only applies to convictions where the sentence was 10 yrs or more. The law needs to be changed first. I rather hope some father of an abused child (or a group of them) manages to catch him before the police do...
  6. Dear GostHacked, MTHEL was operational and effective as early as 2002, shooting down Katyushas both singly and in salvos. However, from what Army Guy has posted, it seems funding was cut on the US side (it was jointly developed with Israel and the IDF). Mind you, as Argus points out, this little battle may be just the tip of the iceberg. Not only has Hizbollah declared it wants to 'eliminate Israel', the Syrian leader has openly taken sides with Lebanon and the Palestinians, but so far hasn't had the cojones to stand up and join the fight. I agree that Israel has taken the wrong approach, and will only create more 'terrorists'. It will also create them where they weren't before, so it is really a 'losing strategy'.
  7. Bah, the Jews (and Muslims) deride Christians as 'idol-worshippers', and the Christians (or some prophecy) claim that the Jews will all become Christians at 'THE End'. Islam, Judaism and Christianity is mostly hogwash anyway, but it's nice that they are all willing to bet everyone else's lives on the matter.
  8. Dear sharkman, I tend to agree with Mr. Hardner on this one...a lone whackjob doesn't really make me want to debate his motivations. Mind you, for some reason, a group of them will...
  9. Dear Argus, Most every large country in Europe, including Britain, ordered the expulsion of the Jews at one time or another.
  10. Dear Argus, From the UN site, Resolution 1686 (2006) http://daccessdds.un.org/doc/UNDOC/GEN/N06...pdf?OpenElement The UN does condemn terrorist attacks, but they are quite powerless to enforce demands, suggestions, or anything else of the sort. The UN is dependent on it's member nations to supply troops to be it's 'coppers'. The trouble is, pretty much every country refuses, for one reason or another. Mostly ''We can't afford it", or 'we are previously committed elsewhere', or even, " based on an 'off the record' evaluation, we rate one of our soldier's lives to be roughly equal to 80,000+ lives of the "po' folk".
  11. Most of the responses here, as divergent and diverse as they are, can be said to be 'close to the truth'. Just depends on your point of view... The Hague should warrant a 'world police' before the UN (or in it's place NATO), or any other 'arbitrary conglomeration of interests'. If a Leader of Hizbollah is going to take credit for an attack, then they should be held responsible in a legitimate court of 'law' (The Hague) rather than a court of opinion (the UN). Further, Lebanon and Israel should have their hands forced; that is, to declare war in the traditional (and legal) sense, and then adhere to the rules set for 'war'. The two that I rate most important, and the ones most are reluctant to shoulder, are; the responsibility for the conquered peoples' (read: 'fiscally responsible for restoring infrastructure') and the body count (in most countries, a political hot potato). Eveyone in this conflict, including the farthest fringes, are wondering whether or not there is such a thing as 'international law'. That is our greatest challenge at this time in history...can we establish a definition for 'Crime and Punishment ' for all?
  12. As I understand it, the last 'Lion of Judah', was Haillie Selassie (former 'Emporer' of Ethiopia), who is revered by the Rastafarians...
  13. Dear PocketRocket, Indeed, I agree. Doesn't matter whether these poems are 'right or left wing', religious or otherwise, they are spam (or perhaps 'flame' posts) and should be removed (along with 'Kilkee') from the forum.
  14. Dear FTA Lawyer, Thank you, Mr. Wet Blanket. I do believe that you are correct, the 'tens of thousands' represent the mundane, that the rest of the 'masses' often use 'media' to escape from. The few are the sensational and often the sordid, but the few sell.
  15. Dear Argus, That is a very dangerous way to do things, and preventing territorial gains by conquest was the prime reason for the creation of the UN. Basically, 'Balls to the wall anarchy' (as someone here previously said).
  16. Dear August1991, I agree with your point, but they don't really 'deal' with each other. However, I was inferring that their collusion isn't about 'market shares' or the money...it is about what is or is not going to appear in their mediums.
  17. Dear Mr. Hardner, In some backwards places it is...from... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adultery
  18. I first heard of this about 8 years ago...As jdobbin states... but I think he means 'pored over'. Besides, going back to your original question...Who cares? I don't care of 'opinions', I care for truth. If Canada gets rated 'the most gay-positve' country in the world, so be it. I have a a couple of very dear friends that are gay. If this somehow 'gayifies' Canada, tough.
  19. Dear August1991, I miss him too... the 'rightest of the right'...a real 'philosopher', even though I often disagreed... Again, you are an enigma...are you for or against 'the common good'? Or do you have a personal 'scales of justice' for it's demarkation of applicability?
  20. Dear Moron-X, So the secret is to piss them off slowly? While whispering 'sweet nothings' in their ear? I personally could kick anyone's ass in any military strategy game.... and this is my personal daily motto....
  21. Dear August1991, Indeed, why would they gamble on such a move? I think it was Ben Franklin who said, "If we all don't all hang together, we'll all hang separately". August, the charges of price fixing would never occur without collusion, yet you think it is fundamentally impossible. You are wrong.from... http://www.endgame.org/corpfines3.html Why do these (few dozen {or rather, hundreds]) of other examples never make the news?
  22. Well done. But Chuck Norris sucks. Hard.
  23. Dear Toro, Profit. Mind you, at certain levels, money becomes power. Certainly don't want the Bin Laden (or Saud) family buying Disney, Time Warner etc. What would people begin to think?
  24. Dear geoffrey, Seems you actually are right, both Canada and Israel spend aroung 9-10 billion/yr on the military. However, that represents 1.1% of the GDP for Canada, while it is 7.7% for Israel, whom are certainly not '4th'.http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0904504.html
  25. Dear Toro, Well, it is all about control, from...http://www.nber.org/digest/jul04/w10240.html from...http://www.fool.com/news/commentary/2004/commentary040414bm.htm So, the ability to control direction of the media is thusly retained in the hands of the few, rather than the many.
