It can take decades, or even centuries, to understand history's injustices. How long did it take to absorb the ethnic cleansing of the Armenians? We trust the spin-doctors too much.

OK. So what does it mean to be a Canadian citizen? Once you get that Canadian passport, there is no going back, AFAIC. In any case, back to the topic at hand.... Wilkins was just spouting the party line and saying what he had to in order to deflect a lawsuit. Unfortunately, this means that he places money over the rights of our citizens. This is not what we believe. I say he should be put on a watch list as a subversive who does not accept Canadian values.

There already is an "age group exclusion " based on being within two years of each other. It was an example. As far as I am concerned, this should be the same as hockey. You have your levels. You start out in Peewee, then Bantam, then Midget..... Tell them that helmets are mandatory from the get-go. It is all a question of development and experience. Much better that kids should learn from each other.

Here is what I think. I think we should define certain ranges for sex, and we need to define what sex means. For example... For sex between a consenting male and female where one does not have authority over the other and sex means a male and a female .... - A boy and a girl under a certain age should be discouraged from having sex. For example, 15 years old. - A boy and a girl should be allowed to have sex, but only within their age range. For example, it would be OK for 16-17 year olds to have sex. - A boy and a girl of a certain age range can have sex within an age range that is a particular number of levels above or below their own.. For example, a 17 year old girl could have sex with a 19 year old boy. The trick is to define acceptable sexual behaviour. I think that it is also important to define a range of disciplines. The idea of two consenting teen-agers being labelled as sex offenders for the rest of their life as a result of a night on the town is really stupid.

It is only off-topic because there is no topic to address it. The media, in whatever form it may assume, is our primary source for information. The only better source is to be present yourself. If you had the balls to live in Iraq in 2006, or Lebanon in the 1980s, then you probably were writing for the media. We base so much of what we think on the information presented to us. Who do we trust and who do we not, and why?

OK. This is what I do not get. You talk about 'Moslems' as a homogeneous group. Do you also equate Falwell with Robertson with the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Pope? Just really weird, IMHO.

I agree that more attention needs to be focussed on Tibet and the Sudan, but nobody is going to start arming nukes over them. The Middle East, on the other hand... And this has to be said. We have a nation of people (Israel) that has suffered tremendously and is carrying out an illegal process of ethnic cleansing to its own advantage. If the Israelis have suffered so much, how can they inflict the same fate on someone else? Is it really so important to take Judea and Sumeria? Israel is not looking too good here....

I guess I am wondering why the only market was seen to be American. There would have been lots of buyers for the Avro. This didn't stop the Israelis, America's 'Best Friend'.

I've posted this before.... Most everything we post here is sourced in the media in some way or another (web, print, broadcast). Anything that cannot be easily attributed is typically challenged. Is it time to have a media forum in which we can debate media issues? Credibility, direction, governence, control...
