My values are that we need people who take great risks to come here because they believe that this is a great place to live. People who want to bring their families here and raise their kids here. People who come here because they see our political system and our economy and they say, "Yeah. That's the way it should be. That's what is right for my kids. That is a culture that will give me meaning as a human being. That is a culture that will recognize me as a striving, earnest human being. That is a culture that will let me earn a honest living for myself and for my family. That is a culture that will not judge me the moment I show my face, but will give me a chance to prove myself." What we don't need are people who judge on superficial characteristics. Thanks for asking.

The medical establishment so far has concluded that the biggest harm from moderate marijuana use is bronchitis. They have not linked it to cancer, liver disease, what have you. This is not the case with alcohol. Alcohol is also a big factor in crime. Marijuana is only a big factor when alcohol or some other hard drug is involved.

What? Am I now accused of denying the existence of the law? The debate is about whether the law should be changed. That's what a political debate is about. Saying that you are only interested in enforcement of the law as it now stands excludes you from the debate. If you are in favour of the law, then defend it on its merits, but don't say that its merits are that it is the law and it must be obeyed. You don't see politicians going into the House and saying, "Well it's the law, so just shut up."

I thought this was a debate about water supplies. The US is running out of water and climate change is only part of the picture. Anybody been to Phoenix or Las Vegas? These people have no connection to reality.

This is a sports team. Sports is about competition and may the best team win. This is a team that hasn't won since Kennedy was assassinated. Clearly Maple Leaf Sports has decided that this doesn't matter and that the most important thing is the profit. This reached a nadir when they tried to make a buck this year off of the 40th anniversary since the Leafs won the Stanley Cup. Can it get any more pathetic? The NHL is no longer a sports league. It is now a corporation. Going to see the Leafs play is now like going down to Bay Street and watching a banker park his Porsche.

This is a political debate site. We are debating the legislation, not enforcement. If that is your interest, you would be better off at a law enforecement site. If you cannot defend the legislation on its merits, then don't come here saying you are only interested in telling everybody to obey the law.

The left (in Congress) voted in favour of this whole dumb adventure because they believed what they were told. Now they know they were lied to and they see the result. This mission was failure the day it started. You cannot occupy forcefully a country of 35 million people unless a very large majority of them want you to. The US lost its invitation after Desert Storm. Voice of America called out for the Shia to rise up and rebel against Saddam. Schwartzkopf let Saddam's Generals keep their helicopters. They used those helicopters to gas and gun down entire villages of Shias and Kurds. People in the west may have forgotten, but you can be damned sure the Shias never did.

Like the part that draws comparisons between Jews in Iran and Sikhs in Brampton.

Bill C, thanks very much for your excellent posts on this subject! I agree 100% with you. These locked in retirement vehicles are ridiculous. That's why the MPPs unlocked theirs! I haven't retired yet, and I have a locked in RRSP, as well as a regular RRSP. It is a complete pain and makes for very inefficient investing. What is the status of locked in RRSPs at the moment? Any changes pending? Thanks again. Good stuff.
