With only a minority of the Demos being represented by the people they vote for, and with the cons successfully unite the right and divide and conquer the rest tactics, its time for Canada to make the reforms it needs to make to have a real democracy. http://www.vancouversun.com/news/national/improve+politics+have+repair+broken+electoral+system/8014896/story.html

Its good to see that the provinces are taking action. Well except Alberta that is... -
Well now that we've sold much our resources off to the rest of the world. Canada is now ready to join Mexico in terms of economic might and prospects for its citizens. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/report-on-business/economy/economy-lab/gdp-numbers-expected-to-paint-gloomy-picture-of-a-slowing-economy/article9010846/

You didn't even post a link to anything you said. Obviously you have to do something about the environment instead of just exploiting it as much as possible to at least even pretend the Cons are good on the environment, which everyone knows is a joke given how Harper himself has said that Canada can't let the environment interfere with economic growth. -

That is such copout B.S. as it is Canada is one of the highest per capita emitters of C02. Ever heard of the expression lead by example? The Con party clearly believes in following the worst example and setting that as a standard. -

Want to post a link to it? If Harper really cared about following it, why doesn't Harper abide by his own alleged proposals? -

That's just rhetoric if the cons wanted something better than Kyoto they could have proposed it, but they simply wanted to get rid of international attempts at dealing with our effects on the environment. Harper let out a big gaff on that one when he said that he doesn't want the environment to hamper economic growth. -

Well OK I don't have a problem with about 10% running on those as opposed to 90% just as to ensure that things run smoothly and can be used as backup. -

There is alot the government can and should do. Signing Kyoto was the no brainer to begin with. Tax incentives for alternative energy is a good one, but the government should also be using renewable energy resources for electricity. That means ditching the coal and gas plants, and using geothermal, wind, and solar. -

We have the technology its here, its a reality. There is no excuse to make the switch. Other than to keep the greedy's pockets filled at the expense of the general population who has to pay for it. -

Extract what we need. Don't extract what we don't need. Oil is going the way of the dinosaurs I just don't want it taking more species and us with it. -

Bullshit switching to alternative energy is not a sacrifice its an intelligent decision. As it is I'm having to sacrifice my own lungs for assholes like you guys as I'm forced to breathe your toxic air and drink your toxic waters. -

I'll personally sacrifice the oil companies on the altar of the dustbin of history. -

The miilitary. Massive environment destroying oil production shouldn't be cut overnight. Canada should get off the grid entirely (in 10 years) and then cut it entirely while the greedy fat bitches weep. -
Why aren't we building more pipelines right NOW?
kairos replied to Scotty's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Why aren't we building renewable energy now? Oil is the resource of the dinosaurs. -

Norway Denmark and many other countries use renewable for their immense amounts of their energy. I'm from B.C. actually our energy is something like 95% renewable we use hydro and sell millions abroad. The fact is oil is not necessary except for the greedy. -
Another example of right wing authoritarians in Canada wanting to turn Canada into an Orwellian nightmare like the U.S. and Britain. Keep Canada free. Warrantless wiretapping would have been approved by the Gestapo, KGB, Mao's China and the Stasi, it shouldn't be Canadian policy.

Senator Mike Duffy & PEI residency scandal
kairos replied to Moonlight Graham's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Oh wait yes they are. Senator caught with 300,000$ of travel expenses on the public dime. The system of Canadian Senators who are essentially a rubber stamp appointed by those in power, are clearly among the worst examples of political patronage. http://www.globalnews.ca/sen+pamela+wallin+has+expenses+probed+after+spending+300000+in+other+travel/6442808613/story.html -
When I was in high school. I told this drug dealer that pot should be illegal. He was mortified, in fact he got angry. He said no it should be illegal, the system is great how it is, there is a firm distribution already in place and he's an integral part of it. Iow he was worried about being put out of business by cannabis being legal. Its the same thing for the corporate drug peddlars the pharmaceutical industry, the alcohol and tobacco industries and their whores in government, mostly in the Conservative Party of Canada.
