That's a massive expense taking care of 65+ year olds. Fareed Zakaria makes this point over and over again. USA is spending 4x as much on the elderly as they are on kids. And they wonder why there is a situation with their education system. There is a limit to spending money on people that just consume and the western world is going to discover that when the baby boomers hit 65+.

Wow, Cain tells the truth and is correct. Outstanding, hell he went on Piers Morgan and defended his claims. If he makes a mistake he owns up to it right away. Seems pretty reasonable to me. Tax base needs to grow and more people down there need to pay taxes instead of soaking those who already contribute enough. And Republicans are leery of a guy like Obama in charge of things, and for good reason, the USA is broke. Old Froot Loop Michele Bachmann has a better economic plan than Obama's, what does that say about the democrats???

Funny, in this instance it probably would have been a good strategy. We'll let God (the market) readjust itself and liquidate all of those bad assets. Home prices would crash, people would scoop them up for pennies on the dollar, people would save money, labour costs would go down, jobs would return, gov't spending would become more realistic. Hmm, that actually sounds pretty good. Praise Jesus, it's a miracle!!!! You know the democrats have a stupid idea when praying for God to fix the economy is a better idea.

Ah, but if you read my posts concerning this, I blame everybody. The reason I like to highlite joe average because lots of people highlite the banks. The problem is we need to get all sides out. Right now we're mainly hearing from the ows. My solution to this would be to have say kevin o'leary or peter schiff have a long as televised debate on cnn with say michael moore and we get both sides of the story and let the audience pick the winner.

Nope, he's going to have to live on varmints for a while. Not as nice as chickens

What and credit card companies don't market their credit cards??? What about those cards that let you redeem points for air line tickets? That's not marketing??? And why would a loaner knowingly sell something that a client couldn't pay off?? That's ridiculous. The bankers felt that the low interest rate, housing bubble couldn't be popped just like joe average and their banks share price got whollopped because of it. Can still blame the fox. The foxes that survive know better than to linger too long in the henhouse or avoid the henhouse altogether. Right now the metaphorical fox has buckshot in his ass and needs some time to heal it, not try and scrounge up more chickens. You've highlighted an important problem and that is "nature" perhaps its "nature" that needs an adjustment, not blaming the scapegoat.

That's like blaming the credit card company for somebody running up their credit card and having difficulty paying off the interest. Its cheaper for the taxpayers to pay out the bonuses than go through litigation about breach of ceo's contract. Yes you can blame the fox. He can eat rodents and other varmints, because the farmer will come at said fox with a shotgun for raiding the henhouse regardless.

Dismantling of the Canadian Wheat Board.
blueblood replied to Bob's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Ah, but those speculators provide liquidity. when speculators look at trends in the market and either buy or sell, this sends strong signals to producers. Right now prices have cooled off by about 40 dollars per ton for canola since the beginning of august. When speculators sell, they sell hard. By speculators going in and providing liquidity, it also allows producers more funds to invest in their operations in order to increase production. And that includes people in developing countries, their producers are no longer out of business with the massive subsidy/cheap food program that ends up enabling dictators. Also when the price drops as hard as it does, it sends very clear buy signals to consumers. There actually is more demand for food, Asia and Latin America are rapidly becoming more and more prosperous and are starting to have more variety in their diets. Unless the chinese only eat a bowl full of rice every day, food prices are going to be at the levels where they are, which is a net benefit to Canada being as we are one of the world's main food exporters. Unless you want the food subsidy program to keep going, which I doubt it is. It was one of the pillars of European gov't spending which helped put them in the mess they are in. THe open market is far better at providing food for the world. And its not like the wheat board didn't benefit from speculation as well. Where do you think they got the foundation on where to negotiate the price of wheat for their contracts? Do you think the wheat board arbitrarily decides what the price of wheat will be to their customers? -
Jon Stewart bashes democrats for not being left enough. Hell he was po'd at Obama for his broken promises. Your missing Cain's point. His point was that the government isn't going to get you out of being poor, that's something a person has to do on their own, and if you want out of it bad enough, you'll figure a way out of it. He still believed in God and was a catholic was he?

The site might be biased, but as I say where there's smoke there's fire... My link Bankers aren't really attacked by the right, they're bashing the gov't for giving out bailout money to failing institutions. If you would watch the interview, he gives his reason for his thoughts on the unemployed. If he can get out from being po', why can't others? So because he thinks being gay is a choice, he's automatically going to bring the hammer down on them? That's like saying because Paul Martin was a catholic and knowing the church's stance on homosexuality that Paul Martin was going to drop the hammer on gay people; we both know the opposite happened.
-
And that's the Jon Stewart types of the media world ramming that down our throat. Do I know that Bachman, Palin, Perry, and Santorum are going to impose their religious doctrine on the US? Do you? If you were to watch the entire Piers Morgan interview, herman cain may be wrong when he says that being gay is a choice, however he made it quite clear that he isn't going to bash them for "making that choice". Looks like he could care less about the whole thing.
