Its not good when the red tory types are nowhere to be seen. Where's Martin, Manley, McCallum? I think there is a situation going on in the liberal party where a purge has either happened or is going to happen.

WHEN Iggy loses this election and moves back to the US
blueblood replied to scouterjim's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
And those centrists are voting tory thus painting the west blue!! Those dern centrist rednecks done outfoxed them liberals again -
There will be no problem of western alienation. Western canada is booming. All sectors of the western canadian economy are firing on all cylinders. As long as nobody tips the cart over, there won't be a peep out here. What's even funnier is that if harper gets his majority, he'll have the slaying the deficit and tax cuts to run on next time. Its funny how he has the deficit to be zero right around election time

Couple that when there are a great deal of grain farms and their fleet of vehicles. That's every trailer and every size of truck. And then the toys on top of it. Smallc, let's say the provincial govt got into the gas retail business and decided that a 1% profit margin was good enough and would pay out the potential profits to customers. I don't think there would be many gas stations owned by regular people around anymore. The same goes for the insurance industry. My beef with the public insurance is that I can't hedge my insurance bill by being a shareholder. Yah 500 bucks for 17 years is nice and everything, but so is an appreciating stock, especially one that pays dividends

Just like being a leader in banning landmines?

Is Igantieff taking us back to Trudeau days?
blueblood replied to Scotty's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
And they say harper likes to muzzle MPs. Where oh where is liberal MP McCallum to weigh in on this? I would love to hear what a former RBC brass has to say about this. I guess manley got out while the getting was good! -
Unless fbc starts doing gas stations I don't think so. I had a 60% margin this year, best year ever and I don't think it'll happen again.

Watch the cash flow! There's a time when and when not to incorporate. You don't want to deal with double tax if the margin is too tight. Msj would be a good person to pm if you want some advice on this. If he's feeling generous that is

A private company can't compete against a crown corp in the insurance business. The crown corp has the backing of the taxpayer and can run at a loss if need be.

Personal fitness is a hobby of mine and I've invested some money in fitness equipment. What kind of fitness are you talking about? If your talking about getting stacked, equipment helps with that, but that's only half of it. You are also going to need protein and lots of it as in 1 gram per pound of body weight at least. Then there is possible creatine and other supplements. It is expensive to get stacked. No way a govt could afford a program like that. Howver there is cardio fitness, which is much cheaper. It is very effective, tiring yet effective. You do not need equipment to participate. Its all will power. Personally I don't do as much cardio as I should be. Shame on me.

There is a trend however to going to corporations especially in mb. However, a person wants to look at cash flow, succession planning, and liability before they go down that path. It isn't for everyone.

Its posts like this that show us the entitled mentality that has resulted in the usa mortgage crisis and people with excessive credit card debt. I suggest people who make blanket statements like this regarding the business sector to google "by word of mouse" made by warner bros, its only 8 min long. It stars two mice and sylvester the cat. If kids in the 50s can understand economics I'm sure grown canadian left wingers can.

Do you know what the free market is? When taxes go up the free market is going to decide to raise prices, fire workers, relocate, cut other costs in order to keep their margins in tact so their bond and shareholders don't have a coniption fit. Prices go down when there is competition, by having a low tax regime, it lowers the cost of doing business, which means firms can lower prices so they can get more customers which improves their margins.

Good old branding again
-
Bwahahahahaha!!! That was a beauty!
-
Because the shareholders and bondholders have to be paid. Those businesses have obligations. A tax hike eats into the bottom line, and prices will have to go up to make up for the revenue shortfall. Or workers have to be let go, or the companies could potentially relocate taking their jobs with them. This isn't the 50s anymore when it was only a few wealthy countries.

Do public sector employees contribute to tax revenue?
blueblood replied to Bryan's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
That just shows how crime hurts the economy. Instead of the money being spent on infrastructure (which helps your argument) or in potential tax breaks, that money is spent on processing a bozo. -
My question is how much of that 47% are able to get all of the refund they are entitled to under the current tax system? If they skip out on some of the deductions, the govt is laughing.

Don't worry, their slate of leaders after martin don't appeal to me, and I don't see any business types front and centre in that party. Is mccallum gone or is he muzzled? Losing manley I think hurt them significantly. As for trudeau, its all about branding. If a brand is tainted people will avoid it like the plague. Its like the tory brand in urban canada, whether their policies help urban canada is up for debate, but if the brand is tarnished, that's a huge problem. The current liberals also won't apologize for his nonsense. I would wonder if the liberals would be better off creating a spin off party for western canada and not run candidates against this new party. That new party would be subordinate to the lpc of course.

I'm not a fan of it. I can see where the tories are offering tax cuts at little cost as possible to the piggy bank. I am a flat tax person, but I am also greedy. What do you figure the percentage of the population makes the effort to use yours/h+r block's services?
-
My theory on these boutique tax cuts and ill ask your opinion on this is that these are related to the same policy of walmart regarding refunds. I think the feds by over-complicating the tax system are hoping that thode little perks here and there get overlooked and people don't bother chasing those tax credits. I know that's a strategy with walmart to offer good refunds knowing a lot of people don't bother exercising them if they buy a faulty product. He's trying to do tax cuts as cheaply as possible. The tfsa I find to be beneficial. I like the corporate tax cuts as it potentially indirectly benefits me as a shareholder and somebody who spends money on farm inputs. I am of the belief that x amt of the economy gets taxed. That means I think you have to go across the board and whittle down taxes (income and consumption). I try and let my company own as much assets as possible, in some cases its a write off, in some cases it isn't. Also use the visa as much as possible to ease things up on the personal income tax side. In toba its 12% small business income tax vs. The much higher personal income tax if I decide to hansdsomely compensate myself. Ill give the harper govt a pass on spending due to the minority situation and that he has to buy votes. I don't know how much of it was martin or how much the bond market had in spooking him. I also think martin had the spending spigot wide open in the twilight of the liberal era. I can't vote liberal just because trudeau completely ruined the brand with his nonsense, even though martin did a bang up job with manning essentially giving him a free pass.

Harper turns down one-on-one debate with Ignatieff

The party leaders can campaign however they want, the voters decide who campaigned the best at the ballot box. Its the democratic thing to do. -
Has Layton sacrified the NDP chances in Alberta for Quebec?

The day wind and solar are comparable to hydrocarbon combustion and nuclear in terms of output and efficiency is the day hell freezes over and the devil offers free sleigh rides. Those who advocate shutting the tar sands down should explain why we should have to have a lower standard of living. What's even richer is an easterner advocating a moratorium on the tar sands while keeping quiet on the production of the offshore hibernia field. Last time I checked there was a situation with an offshore oil rig and not the tar sands. -

If it worked for obama it can work for harper
