I thought he was quite entertaining really, maybe he's found his true calling.

Me too! Again. All the arguements about which party leader has the best personality characteristics for PM are redundant. That being said, I think both Harper and Martin pale in comparisan to Jack Layton. NDP Bitches!!! Woooo!

Your maturity gives you such crediability, I hope it continues. That is how Martin defines Canada, he said it in those worlds exactly. Your hate is obvious in the first line... "well I'll just let an AMERICAN speak for my country." Are American opinions non-valid? Seems like your implying that. She's completely right. Most people in Canada, when meeting an American, get all worked up against them. Your post implies that being an American is to be considered a negative trait, I say this is bigotry. How do you view Canada Hollus? Excuse me! Do they still do alot of acid in university cause you just went for one wild trip. I implied no such thing. I may not have defined my points clearly enough to follow.(so I apologize for the acid comment but Im not earasing it) I cant spend anymore time on this though, Im going snowboarding. DONT! say anything mean while Im gone  -

That's garbage. Not the fault of the American people? We aren't talking about some dictatorship in Africa. Americans vote in their leaders. You are clueless. Surely you reconize the low approval rating in the states. You must realize the Bush admins policies have caused alot of division in the american public, I dont see how our aliennation could be much different. -

Take a deep breath. And read the article below.... then count to 10 before replying. Anti-Americanism I am now hoping for a CPC majority. Oh, give me a break! NORA JACOBSON says we're unamerican. Okay well I'll just let an AMERICAN speak for my country. "Any country that defines itself through a negative ("Canada: We're not the United States") is doomed to an endless and repetitive cycle of hand-wringing and angst." I think she's anti canadian. Thats not how I view Canada PPAA LEASE I am now praying for anything except cpc majority. -

what part of this country do you live in? I won't be as point blank as Hollus was but you are taking a complete bias towards this situation...if you live anywhere near a major urban city you know the animosity many Canadians have toward our American friends and you know damn well if you own a TV or the Internet the preached hatred from the PM loather himself Chretien. Bush can be a jerk too don't doubt me on that but you have to look at both sides. Your post represents your inherent bias which I find reprehensive. Yes I live in the city. I think some of us may have trouble differentiating between our dissaproval with current US admin. policy and the bond we share as citizens. The bush admin. has drawn alot of missdirected anger and frustration upon the America. Ofcousre, anyone intelligent enough to see past a persons nationality knows this is not the fault of american people. We're not america haters we're just scared and angry with the behavoir of their leaders, and quite a few of them are too -

I assume you mean figuratively giving us the finger. I'm not sure how you can expect the US to do Canada any favours after 12 years of anti-Americanism from our leaders. Honestly why do you feel like Canada should get any special treatment? Fine jump up and down, pull out your hair and cry your head off. See where it gets you. Are you even Canadian? Fuck-off with your anti-american bullshit. We are not anit-american. Iraq? ya their anit-american. Canada? Freinds. Real Canadians know this and I think emailforcanada sumed that up quite well. -

It worked for Mulroney when trying to get a US audience for his concerns on acid rain. I think you are the one who is naive. This is a perfect example of what Im trying to get through. Mulroney entered us into the very agreement that allows a corporation to sue our government for dicisions that negatively effect the corporations profits. How is this good for us? Under this trade agreement American corporations are currently clearcutting BC forests with no respect for current forestry law, and those logs are not even being prosessd in Canada. Thanks Mulroney, you gave away Canadian rights and freedoms so the americans would act responsibly and address an envirounmental concern shared by us both. Thanks for the tee up. p.snafta Mulroney trade -

You're making the assumption that one has to give in and make Canada the 51st US state to deal with them. What we're saying is that one can catch more bees with honey than with crap. If we want them to deal with us and be fair, we should respect them. We needn't change who we are to do that. No. Your making the assumption that some how being "polite" will have an effect on how the US negotiates with Canada. If you think the US came to its economical power by being polite and fair than i'd say you have a rather naive view of the world. The only way this US administration will care about the plight of Canadians is if we start acting like a 51st state and fall inline with their policy. This is not speculation, they have proven this with their dealings in the international community. In no way do I condone dissrespect, but the Bush admin. is politely ramming our beaver ass. Electing Harper will be kinda like giving them a big wet kiss for it. -

Wow!?!?! Class and respect????? I point out that Harpers only tool in solving economic disputes with the US is to fall inline with their policy on key social issues. Issues that will define us as a nation. All you have to respond with is liberal insults and a lecture on good manners. If I politely tell another country to surrender or I'll invade does that make it allright? If I walk in to a house and tie up everyone inside-being very polite the whole time-does that change the exchange that occured? Should'nt the decissions that will form the foundation of or future reflect the veiws of Canadians and not be made to appease our trading partners? you people making insults need to look in the mirror. -

Don't understand that logic. Our working relationship with the states seems a little onesided. What could Harper posibly do to resolve this without giving in on issues like missle defence, gay marriage, war on drugs or invading countries on false pretense for oil? Sure we can solve cattle and softwood, we just have to give up on having or own national identiy. So when this comes to pass and Im over "liberating" Iran or North Korea, I wont be hear to tell all you Harper supporters 'I told ya so', so... I told ya so. -
Well, thank you very much for the welcome hydraboss. Yes -56C'. If you dont beleive me Im sure its on record, it happened on more than one ocassion. There was a slight breeze on top of that. Most of the time temps between -20 to -40. I imagine your one of those bosses that sits in is truck reading Heavy Metal comics and porn while your crew works... Lucky bastard! I was a welders helper making 14.25hr 12hr days at one point up to 34 days straight. Usually came out for 2 days every 3 weeks. As I understand from speaking to friends the BC wage starts around 16hr with a decent company this year. About all these 'moving expenses paid' jobs, ya Ive heard pleanty about em' but never seen em or known anyone accept an experienced Heavey Duty Mech. that got one. If you wanna send down the applications those I could recruit you a whole crew myself. If these paid expenses jobs are out there, their not doing a very good job advertising them. Plus from the amount of people I saw split after couple days, I'd be super impressed just to see a company willing to pay for the courses. Last year I arrived in Ft St John at the begining of september. It took 6 weeks of going into shops and sitting while locals were barley getting enough days themselves. I had to pay my own food and hotel for the 6 weeks, aswell as 800$ for H2S0, L1OFA and WHIMMIS. My 57 yr/old recently unemployed-because of softwood-father didnt get put to work steady till December, and that was for 30 days of mixxing mud on a rig. He went up this year begining of Jan and everyones getting laid-off the current job hes on cause of permit problems. All he wants to do is work if youve got one of those fat paying jobs that will last longer than break-up please do email me, Hes got experience pipelining on lay-in crew. Ya it would be nice if EI would make up the difference if I worked at McDonalds but they dont. If I manage to pick up 1 day of work EI doesnt pay for that week. Your right its an abuse to the system, but seriously, what about the fisherman. They work a fraction of the time I put in and as far as I know, their not even required to look for work during offseason. Last thing, Hicksey said "The benefit of it is that we attract skill jobs. The problem with it is that unskilled labour jobs get sent overseas." Could you please explain how those skilled jobs are generated? Please dont say the money saved on labour will be reinvested to create north american jobs. I just cant see how its not to line rich pockets.
-
HEY! I earned that EI vacation. A fisherman works 2weeks, spends the rest of the year on EI. I work 8 months in North Helmut with temps as low as -56 then get laid off. Do you think I was gonna go back home and work 8hr days for a job that pays less than the 714$per2weeks? Well ya, I probly could have stayed and found somthing for summer, but I got family and who wants to hang around to wrestle 7ft Pterodactylus mosqetious.
-
If your looking for work, Ive had no trouble finding it around northern BC, Alberta in the winter months. All the hours you want and you can go on a nice 7-10 month E.I vacation afterwards. It is cold though, but toughen up this is Canada wussy. I often spend my E.I vacation days pondering how the NAFTA and WTO agreements could bennifit working Canadians. Ive yet to come up with anything though. I keep getting stuck on how a corporation can move its factory oversees to take advantage of cheap labour and then 'oh shit' Im out of a job. Better head for the patch. With China developing at a rapid pace Im sure big business is salvating at the cheap labour force. So how do I stick a turkey on the table when Im competing with a billion mouths hungrier than mine? Guess I better hit the books, cause I cant see how there will be any entry level jobs left.

Hollus replied to Harare's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Yes I would. Are you currently serving in the Military?, if not, put your money where your mouth is and join up before you start with these half cocked ideas. As a matter of fact is ANYONE in here a member of the military past or present? Yayer right buddy, Im not in military and I didnt mean to trivialize the commitment our troops have made to our Country. Was just trying to counter the statment that anyone passing through our justice system is not fit for duty. If you've followed the thread Ive since pulled a 'Martin' and flipflopped on the idea. Bottomline is we need a better place to put troublemakers or they come out as hellmakers. -

This substantial portion you speak of, are you saying their unfit to survive because of born ability? If so I hope you've got some valid studies to back this up. Never though I'd see the day where I defend eureka... I think eureka is saying that some people are born without the capability to live without assistance. This is obviously true. thats exactly what eureka is saying. Sorry if Im being a little thick, but it sounds to me like your talking about special needs children. But not to digresslink -

A recent assessment of donations shows: the Conservative Party has a base of individual donors that is much larger than the other four parties the Liberals have many more donors donating more than $1,000 than all the other parties combined Donations of under $200 made up 77.0% of Conservative money Donations of under $200 made up 11.2% of Liberal money Donations of under $200 made up 17% of Bloc Quebecois donations Donations of under $200 made up 76.2% of NDP donations Democracy Watch 2005 So gee, it looks like the Conservatives and NDP are getting the vast majority of their money from small donations from individuals. The Liberal party on the other hand, is getting its donations from rich people. So who do you think is in the pay of the corporations? ZZzzzZZ... ZZZzzzZZ... ZZzzAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! Check out http://www.elections.ca. Also, check out the board of directors on the conference board of Canada, re Harper's economic plan. Interesting. http://www.conferenceboard.ca/about-cboc/BOD.asp Allright I concede, a naive post on my part. Thanks for the rebuttles. I just fear that the CPC wants to put more power in the hands of corporations. Convince me Im wrong and Ill sleep better at night.

Yes, where are the parents? Unfortunately all you need to concept a child is a set of overeis and testicles. So unless your proposing some sort of state run population control-where you have to obtain a birth licsencse for children-than you and I are going to continue seeing uneducated low income people shitting out babbies that dont have a whole lot of positive influence to draw from. Society is not you or I alone, it is what amounts from the comunication and interaction of us all. "Children are a perpetual, sel-renewing underclass, helpless to escape from the decisions of adults untill they become adults themselves" -Orson Scott Card, Enders Game These kids are societies responsibility and if we want them to stop growing into monsters we better take notice! -
Could some kind conservitive please explain where I can find a list of the CPC campaign contributers? Could you please provide me with some strong evidence that the CPC won't tailor their government to suit the needs of these contributers? Why is it that they would not want to reveal their supporters? Could it be that their intentions and values may not be in the best interest of Canadians?

Criminal justice reform is needed no doubt, but that is reactive approach that will not effect the cause. Organized crime will always exist as long as theres a profit margin outside of the economy. Why dont we take a look at regulating their industry so we dont have lucrative business waiting for anyone with a gun and no consceince.
