Why stop there? Why not just record all phones cell and otherwise all the time and use technology to log all sounds as cues? gunshot detector, hearing someone say rape, the sound of broken glass.. all this can be done for every camera on cellphones and every microphone in Canada. That is over 24 million points of sound inputs from cell phones... cameras on cell phones can accumulate a certain amount of information also. The bill will allow this to happen. Surely there must be a crime happening somewhere, does one not want to stop that crime? If you have the choice of knowing or not knowing what is the more responsible action? Wouldn't you want the police watching your home from your webcam, just encase someone breaks in, or you have a heart attack? Think of all the freedom and safety and security it will give you! The government would rather pay ISP's to deploy infrastructure, than use tax payer funds to deploy technology and infrastructure that is owned and controlled by the public because they are corporatist not public servants. Just a point it doesn't actually need to be replaced, take for example Costa Rica who doesn't have a military. Being next door to the biggest super power in the world after China and their ally means that we will be well defended. Since our airforce cannot resist the US airforce in a full invasion it really has no role really. It lowers US defence costs thats it. US Homeland security is bigger than the Canadian Military. Fact is, in this day and age anti air defences are more useful than stealth attack aircraft and bombers like the f35 is. A nuclear deterrent is all Canada needs. Now if a cop does a search on you speeding they can have access to your email. Ontop of this they can see where you are headed and if you told anyone on phone or email chat etc.. they will be able to verify that for purgery. They could also track your cellphone position if it is connected with cellphone towers to determine your rate of speed. all this without a warrant. and they can keep tabs up to the court date and after to see what angle you will take with your lawyer, etc.. oh and remember to leave your cellphone off if you want privacy as remote backdoors into cellphones means they can listen anytime your cellphone has power. Harper is more American than May though in mind and ideology. Canada should reenter union with Britain to repel American influence. With a UK CANADA (United Kingdom of England Wales, Scotland and Canada) the UK would have a population of about 1/3rd of the US and more territory. Canadians would have preferential travel in the EU as EU citizens, and numerous other advantages.

Take for instance 2 in 3 child sexual charges do not lead to convictions. How is it the cops press charges? What about that other 33% how do we know there arn't innocent people in that 33% or guilty peole in the 66%?

Some might have done the crime, part of the problem with the justice system is that both cops and lawyers lie. People get framed, and the people that are accused from time to time are actually the victims. The economic cost is disproporiate with some crimes, example is shoplifting $10 of merchandise deserving of $631+ of fees? What about someone who got into a fist fight with someone? Likewise how should someones record of murder be erased because they paid $631 the proposal is nonsense.

I was just going through the public safety website and I noticed that the fee that was increased from $50 to $150 in 2010 is being put up to $631 in 10 days. I'm not sure why $631 was chosen. None the less, this looks sort of expensive for the average excon. Is this just to make poor excons unable to get a pardon while rich excons can walk away with having no record. A rich con artist (how did they get that $631), can clear their record but a pickpocket would be forced to steal 10 or more wallets. Price just seems awfully high for most people, am I wrong? Why even have pardons? Either just do it automatically the paper work just seems a way of exterting political control on the process. I would think pardon requests are going down? Is there something about the old system that wasn't working what is the percent of recidivism among pardoned excons? Do they not pay taxes too, its not like they wern't forced to pay for other peoples prisons and gaurds. Makes more sense just to remove the pardon process completely and stop hiding information and come down to earth on how common place crime is in Canada. Why hide peoples past crimes? How is that protecting society? Crime is everywhere. Why let people hide the fact they were charge. If the job is so sensitive you don't want to hire a criminal,why not let them know they were a criminal. This pardon system is nonsense. It is disgusting the government is turning this into a social class issue of economic capacity. Shame on the government for abbetting fraud and hiding public safety risks and economic risks from the public. Why are they so stupid as to endanger the public like that? There is no way to judge the rehabilitation of someone other than them not breaking the law. People shouldn't have a way to pay their way out of the truth of their life.
