  1. I agree. And they - the Church heirarchy - of all people, should be the first ones to know that what they do - protecting and transferring predators to other places - is a grievous mistake, since I assume they've read the Book of God! Their priority should be to protect the innocents. What's wrong about de-frocking a predator and telling him to go get help?
  2. This is the Mosaic Law: http://bible.org/article/mosaic-law-its-function-and-purpose-new-testament Not the ENTIRE Mosaic law. I mentioned the 10 Commandments because it mentioned adultery specifically. Several laws in the Mosaic Law (OT)were given specifically to the Jews, because they were supposed to be a "nation of priests." That's why there were specific instructions how to do specific things - building their temple, offerings and sacrifices, food they're not allowed to eat. So yes MDancer, I'm like saying....wow! I mean... just wow! I ask you, how many Christian Jews today still follow the law of killing a lamb as an offering? Did you ever wonder why Christians are eating pork??? Excerpt from The Mosaic Law: Its Function and Purpose in the New Testament Study By: J. Hampton Keathley, III http://bible.org/article/mosaic-law-its-function-and-purpose-new-testament I mentioned the 10 Commandments because Jesus Christ also mentioned these Commandments. And as I've said, He expanded too, on the meaning of adultery. Therefore I believe that the laws of the 10 Commandments still stands. MDancer, it's deja vu all over again! So now you know...that what you think you know....you actually didn't really know. See? That's why it's so important to read and try to understand the Bible.
  3. And why over slavery too?
  4. Anyway, why are we splitting hairs if polygamy is in the Bible or not?
  5. Yes. But is the government going to seriously and aggressively enforce our law....that's another topic.
  6. ???? Where did that come from?
  7. Like you, I am not in favour of polygamy. And don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to give any excuses for the leader of this sect. He is a pedophile. My point is that polygamy shouldn't be about women's rights! If all are consenting adults, no one's rights is violated! As I've said, what do we know about a sect's moral code on their polygamous marriage? For one, we assume that it's only the women who has to marry. What if a man is also put upon or pressured to marry a woman? It should be about the law. If polygamy is against our law, then it is a crime. If I'm not mistaken, Muslims practice polygamy. It's not a just a cult or a sect. But yes, I understand what you mean about sects or cults. Since usually people who join these are troubled (which makes them vulnerable), they tend to be of serious concern....most especially when there are children involved.
  8. No I haven't been following. Do you mean this? But again, it's a question of what exactly do we mean by "committed relationship"? Some of our average wives cheat on their spouses and yet claim to be in a "committed relationship"...vice versa. So there's really no difference....just being there accepting and participating all these years to that kind of marriage/relationship is a proof of....commitment. What more when you give birth as a result of such relationship. Do you know exactly the code of ethics being followed by members of this sect? What may be a definition of "commitment" to us....may not exactly be theirs. Does "committed relationship" in their definition means just providing roof and basic needs under one roof? Equal time? Sex time? Equal labor contribution? What does the matrimonial looks like? Who gets to sleep in the bed. By rotation? Can a wife decline to have sex if she has a headache? Is there an heirarchy among the wives? Is wife #1 considered to have more status than the other wives? If all wives know their codes and are agreeable to it....how can we say it's a "constant state of manipulation?" Doesn't any average relationship involve a certain amount of - positive/negative or constructive/destructive - manipulation? What do we know for us to be able to say, "oh, they're not fully committed!" To say that - based on our own societal code or religious belief - polygamy is wrong, is one thing. But to authoritatively say that those who practice in polygamy are not fully committed, is another.
  9. Most probably is....except that I saw the guy being interviewed or answering to the press in the news. It might've been on CTV.
  10. It was in a news channel sometime thsi past week, just a short clip. I didn't even get who the guy was....but it seemed he was making enough waves to have been given the time on air. It struck me because it reminded me of what I've said before....about opening a can of worms.
  11. But then again, it's a speculation that these women in polygamous marriages have been coersced....or just simply brainwashed as children. We say the same thing about women in burquas! That it's oppressive to women....or that they're just being coersced into waering them....not to mention the overall treatment of women as chatels. YET, Sharia Law is accepted in England, and if I'm not mistaken....I've read somewhere that it's also quietly operating in Toronto. You need not even have to look far beyond our borders. First Nations women were just recently given some fairness by the Federal Government regarding their divorce laws! After all these years of feminism....those women who really need the feminists' help appear to be invisible! Or simply ignored! Why single out polygamy....if your reasons for doing so is about women's right? It is the least of your worries.
  12. Since I've brought up NAMBLA, the Catholic Church cabal, and homosexual pedophilia....I've brought up the two ancient topics ("Pedophiles line up...." and EGALE)that dealt with the same subject. Unfortunately, they turned up in Federal Politics.
  13. This one is brought up too for those interested. Ooops. This one was brought up because of the recent interview in the news that Pedophilia - like same-sex - should be accepted as a sexual orientation.
  14. I brought it back up for review. Oooops. Same reason why this was brought up. Moderators, can you please move these Egale and Pedophilia threads where appropriate? Sorry.
  15. Ahh...I found something that I agree with. If society accepts same-sex marriage....why not polygamy, if all involved are consenting adults? Btw, I remember debating eons ago in this forum that legitimizing sodomy and homosexuality based on "sexual orientation" is opening a can of worms. Just recently in the news, someone was interviewed (I don't know who he is) and he's saying that Pedophilia should be accepted as a sexual orientation. As for social harms, I've also discussed NAMBLA ages ago, and that homosexual activity can include pedophilia since there seems to be the attraction and desire to initiate young lads. Furthermore, the investigative report on sexual abuse within the Catholic church had unearthed a "cabal" among homosexual pedophiles.
  16. Again, let me bring this article up. An interesting read. http://www.brfwitness.org/?p=865 Furthermore, in the OT God had given specific laws to the Jews (aside from the 10 Commandments)how to treat their slaves/servants.
  17. That is one example of adultery. See? He's saying that if you divorce your wife because she cheated on you (that's the only excuse for divorce I think), and you married someone else, you are still committing adultery! If you divorce your spouse, you're not supposed to marry any other! You remain celibate and single. Like I said, Jesus really expanded on the meaning, or what constitutes adultery. If I'm not mistaken, He also said that coveting or lusting after a married person (or when you're married) is also committing adultery. Even bigamy is not allowed! His request was clear. And so is my answer. One wife....one husband....together becomes one flesh. Plus the big issue of adultery (and Jesus' reiteration that He's come not to abolish the law but to fulfill them - Check out the quotes provided by Wyly). Can't get any clearer than that.
  18. What do you think is the meaning of adultery? What was explained in the verses I gave MDancer? What is so confusing and hard to understand? Did you see that even divorcing a wife in order to marry another is considered adultery! Are you looking for the law that says specifically, "Thou shalt not commit polygamy?" FYI: ADULTERY covers all bases! Bigamy is a big no-no too!
  19. In what way?
  20. You don't want to discuss. And I don't wanna get down there with you. So, farewell, arrivederci. <big hug> Ciao. <flying kiss> Adieu. <wave hankie> Bye-bye.
  21. Yes, He said He's not eliminating the Law, but to fulfill them. And here are your quotes: So what was Jesus talking about in all your quotes??? The LAW. What's the law? The Commandments! THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT ADULTERY is one of them! Furthermore, Jesus really expanded on adultery. He explained what is adultery under the law.
  22. There he goes spitting and spewing.... Oyy.....and pray tell how science backs up your belief?
  23. Why?
  24. Are you saying all priests? You're painting everyone with the same brush? That's bigotry. Of course you know that bigotry usually stem from ignorance? Look who's talking! What about you? And your New Atheist Church? Your charismatic messiah Dawkins? Your children are also born and indoctrinated to your religion. And before you rebutt that the New Atheist is not a religion, you better go and read the opening article in the topic Church of the Non Believers, and all those articles abouit Dawkins in Video Debates and Interviews. You've got a lot of catching up to do.... At least we've got something to back up ours. You've got zero!
  25. I've done as you requested....but really, I don't see why you're getting yourself knotted up over this? Those who end up getting victimized by lunatic sect leaders usually are troubled people who are seeking God or trying to fill their spiritual needs. I've given the advice of reading the Bible to them who seek God....and to all Christians. So as not to be misled.
