We all know this is about oil. Why did the Bush Admin feel the need to lie? Why not just put the cards on the table "Hey American citizens, we are going to war with Iraq to fight for the oil supply. Perhaps in the future they will cut us off and we are just making sure y'all can heat your homes." Why lie about the reasons for the war? Terrorism issues - wmd issues - biological weapons issues - human rights issues -- all lies. Why?

No of course not. There are nuts of all stripes. But the very act of questioning is a good thing. So far I have yet to see one instance where his administration is correct. "Good" people question their gov't when they believe it is wrong. "Bad" people swallow whatever they are told without question. Perhaps the words "good" and "bad" are not appropriate.... as the "followers" are not necessarily "bad", perhaps they are just lazy or complacent or even brainwashed by the propaganda. The questioners are not necessarily "good" either. Perhaps some of them just want to stir up sh*t. IMO it is always better to question and then accept than it is to simply accept without question. If I have questioned the Canadian govt am I to be considered anti-Canadian? No, because in Canada, we've always complained about the govt LOL. Then why do we call those who question the American government anti-American? -

I checked it out and sounds like: " A place for democrats and liberals with closed minds. It has 70,000 members, yet they all sound the same. The basic message is "fuck bush, fuck republicans, fuck Howard Dean, fuck anyone with a differing opinion, oh god, the world is going to end." http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?...tic+Underground You did not "check it out" Here is the real link: Democratic Underground How can you NOT be glad that good American people are questioning their government? Is there something wrong with questioning how one's government is conducting itself? Do you not EVER question anything? Do you swallow everything you are told? Even when you KNOW you have been lied to numerous times? Sheesh. -

Ol' Betsy... she just LOVES the Bush Republicans! LOL It is good forum. Many (probably millions) of good Americans voicing their opinions and trying to change the course of America. Good luck to them all. Check it out -- Just type Democratic Underground in your search engine. Go ahead Betsy... you won't go to hell for reading it.. me and sky daddy PROMISE! LOL (Oh, better ask your husband if it's ok with him though -- I wouldn't want you to get a smack upside the head for reading something you weren't supposed to!) -

Kuzad, that attitude is prevelant among many Americans. They believe their country is the best on earth no matter what they have done. It's simply tunnel vision. They have been looking at themselves in the mirror for so long that they CAN'T look outward. America is the most hated country on earth, thanks to the Bush Administration. Good Americans (like those on the Democratic Underground) have an uphill battle and I feel for them. The Democratic Underground exists because it is a sin in the USA to be liberal, it is a sin to be anti-war, anti-Bush. But this is changing. Maybe, just maybe once they have a real government again and have gotten rid of the Patriot Act, gotten rid of Homeland Security, maybe I will go for a visit. -

Why won't you ever visit the U.S.? Have you never been here? Yes, many times in the early 1990's. My boyfriend and I would go across all the time. No problemo -- but that was then...today, your country has changed so that people are no longer wanting to take the chance on being "detained". Your country is going down the tubes. Realize it. Try your hardest to FIX it. Although I think America's reputation around the world is so tarnished that no amount of polishingis going to change it. Poor fools voted for the worst administration possible -- TWICE! I shake my head. Talk to some real Americans (not the swaggerin', preachin', warrin', loudmouth minority) on the Democratic Underground. There are realistic people who KNOW how badly the USA is doing and are TRYING to do something about it. America is now known as the terrorist of the world. That reputation will no go away any time soon. Just like Canada's reputation of being socialist Trudeau lovers will never leave us... you will (for many many years to come) be known as Bush warmongers. -
Twas a while back Betsy said -- when she was in school. So back then no she would not have "reported" anything. If it were to happen today you darn right she would be reporting it quick as a wink. I can imagine those Iranian men trying to explain what their heated argument was about to CSIS.
-
We can suspect everyone of anything. Or we can give them the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps that older Iranian man was berating those boys for drinking and partying (a no no for muslims). Who knows. The point is that Besty automatically assumed they were planning a bombing simply because they come from Iran. They were not asking her direct questions like the man in your story. She made an assumption based on their country of origin, their skin colour and their religion without having any clue as to what they were discussing.

First good idea I've ever seen you post Bush-Cheney dude! I would love to see the border lined with your military. Perhaps then the guns and cocaine would finally stop flowing northward. And it might even intimidate those stupid Canadians from cross border shopping. I live within 50kms of the border and no, I will never, ever cross. Aren't you glad LOL -
She has no clue what they were saying, she admitted that they were speaking in their own language (gasp!). How does she know they were "planning" something. Like I said, the older fellow could have been angry at the boys for pucking white girls... 'cause we all know white girls puck.

out of curiosity.... Please give us an example of a prayer. Please give us an example of a prayer that worked... PS... when you pray, you are actually talking to deep down portions of your own phsyche... If you say "please god help me through this bad time" you are actually appealing to your self for help.
-
You are SO LUCKY to have gotten away! Why they were muslims! My god! How terrible for you. Perhaps the older man was berating the young ones for hanging out with white women? Of course NOT! They were plannning to bomb something. Get a grip on your tinfoil hat. Frig.
-
Ever stop to think WHY an educated person would even want to be involved in terrorism? Frig, there must be a reason an educated person would do this. Please tell what you believe their motivation is. Where are those doctors and intellects that were involved in 911 then? They were not there because muslims did not "knock down" the buildings. The American govt did it. Fully, completely, entirely. There were no highjackers, only explosives planted by the US govt. There WILL be another attack on the USA before the election. It WILL be perpetrated by none other than your beloved Republican leaders so that they can continue their false "war on terror". Don't believe it? Talk to me in November '08. The Republicans CANNOT win another election UNLESS their country is "attacked" and they are "at war". Go to the Democratic Underground -- there you will find out how the majority of Americans feel. How they believe Bush and his cronies murdered 3,000 people, how they have led the American populace down the "garden path" regrading all this fake terrorism. I just spent the last four hours chatting with my friend in Iran. She is asking if the US is going to attack Iran. I said "probably" because there is a big "hate-on" for muslims right now. Poor kid I hope she is ok. Not that you would care -- she's muslim so therefore considered a terrorist in your narrow mind.

Accountability and Common Sense, where'd it go?
Drea replied to Moxie's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
Moxie, I too believe in accountability. Those gangstas are a product of their upbringing. A product of "You can't make me I'll go to social services!". On that "last line"... Does this mean you are for: a.) personal choice with regard to abortion? b.) personal choice with regard to substances that may be deemed harmful? c.) personal choice to marry the person you love regardless of gender? d.) the freedom from/of religion in the public arena? e.) the option to spank a child for discipline purposes? -
Woooooo -- gooooooooood insult Scotty! You are debating skills are at most that of grade school level. "you don't agree heathen? well, well... well your momma's ugly! Neener, neener". LOL

Alas! You and your black and white thinking. Sheesh. One can liken the USA to the bully in the school yard. The bully needs to be taken down (not killed doughhead, just taken down a notch or two). Just because I revel in the bully's demise does not mean I am a "terrorist sympathizer". Get a grip. You have fallen hook, line and sinker for the propaganda coming out of the mouths of the Bush administration. They have you quaking in your boots in anticipation of a "terror attack". There has never been a terrorist attack in North America that wasn't perpetrated by Americans themselves (or their govt). The Bush admin is currently warning everyone that they are about to do it again before the next US election. You are absolutely dilusional if you believe cave dwelling muslims have the capacity to attack the big ol US of A. Your tinfoil hat must be on waaay too tight. Hug your teddy bear and you will be safe. Oh, and don't forget to pick up some duct tape.... Ha ha ha

way to cut healthcare costs
Drea replied to FascistLibertarian's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
What about those of us who rarely use doctors' services? My statement would be at a zero balance and they would have to spend another $100,000 just to tell me that. More administration costs is not going to fix the system. IMO user fees would stop people from running to emerg or the doc for every little sniffle. -
Here's an interesting view... I'm even inclined to believe some of what he says. Dead Country Walking I'm even inclined to believe some of what he says.

Most of those people don't repeatedly mis-spell 'hegemony.' Some of them even know what they're talking about. I see you cannot dispute the facts -- only the spelling. Typical of Bush defenders -- attack the messenger instead of debating the facts. Oh well, we already know all about your tactics. LOL -

When there is a balance of power, war is less likely. When one can run roughshod over the rest - we have a problem. The problem of this one superpower imposing their economic/military will over others for no good reason. Let's be realistic here. What would be better -- a number of countries voting on an issue or one country dictating an issue? -

There has to be a new bully to replace the old bully? Better there be no bully at all, no?
