Fixing a broken leg is one thing. Did you never see the show John Q Public? That is the reality in the US. Sure you maybe allowed by your insurance co. to have your broken leg fixed but your are out of luck if you have a long term health issue. Weaponeer, that's a laugh! Reduce income tax by what 10%, so that a person can afford to pay off a $250,000 treatment? Even if income tax were eliminated I still would not be able to afford it. I'll wait in line thanks. Paying off medical bills is the biggest cause of bankruptcy in the US. and you want this system? Pffft.

When he was little, my son was never allowed to play "shooting" at all. Not even with the index finger. My hubby bought him a bb gun last year... I was against it at first but because he is a cadet and will eventually learn to shoot I thought it would be ok.... and I'm still sleeping with hubby LOL. He is now 13 and will take range shooting with Cadets this fall. He has already learned that a gun is not a toy, now he will learn to use it as a tool in its proper context. He is not any less "masculine" for this lack of gun-play.... he stands up to pee. Shooting and killing "games" should not be allowed until the child is double digits... before that it is very difficult for them to tell the difference between real and make believe. For computer games my son plays "Command and Conquer" .... games with whole armies. I draw the line at first person shooter games. He can play them when he moves out on his own.

I wonder if one does not believe in the "theory" of gravity.... do they have to have weights holding them down so they don't float off into space!? LOL

And you know this..... how again? Have you ever met a person who has come back? Don't give me those "near death experiences" those are just your brain's neurons dieing off. My Mom always said "if there is anything beyond life I will somehow let you know". So far 10 years have passed since she died and not a word. Not a billowing curtain, not a ghostly chill or shadow, nothin. I'm still waitin'...

I dunno... I was in the Timmy's drive through line-up this morning and damn near got gassed to death by an old vehicle. I had to drive with all 4 windows open all the way to work to get the fumes out of my car. Yesterday the guy in front of me had a cigarette going -- not only that but HE WAS HANGING IT OUTSIDE THE WINDOW OF HIS TRUCK! OMG -- I coulda friggin' died from it

Cyber if I were her I would sue the ass off that doctor. He has absolutely no right to refuse a legal medication or procedure. If a doctor has certain religious beliefs where he cannot perform a procedure (or write a prescription) then he should a.) not be a doctor b.) work on ONLY the parishners (sp) from his church. This would mean of course, that he should not have been in the ER (where non churchies go) at all.

Bribing kids is why our society is such a mess. One does not "negotiate" with a child, one TELLS a child the way it is. As a parent you are not your childrens' "friend", you are their parent. By child I mean preteen. One must negotiate once they become teens. But at 4 years old a child cannot negotiate, any bribery or negotiation is the child getting their own way. Once this child becomes a teen he has no idea that the real world involves very little "negotiation" and lots of "do this". As a result we have kids who are simply ignorant of authority as they have grown up BEING the authority at home.

I don't know that much about it. My observation is that if the Japanese were anything like the current crop of Chinese I can see why it would happen. Let me explain.Most, indeed all, Chinese I know are great citizens. They are industrious, civil, and non-violent. However, they do keep to themselves, largely, don't participate in American civil life, and often speak only broken, if any, English. They speak to each other in Chinese. When war threatened the Pacific Coast, there were many of Japanese origins who, I believe, similarly did not integrate with mainstream culture, did not speak English and kept to themselves. Being a hypenated American is a real risk in wartime when your country is fighting the "hyphenated" part. In wartime, the safety of the general public and of troops is always going to trump civil liberties. I cannot condone, but can only explain, what appears to have been a gross injustice. Watched a program on the Chinese men who built the Canadian Pacific railway. Gross injustice doesn't even come close. Many Japanese families (most of them acutally) had to start from scratch after the "internment". They never got their land or assets returned to them. If I had a first language other than english, you darn right I'd use it at home to be sure my children never lose it's useage. My family lost it's french -- we spoke it when we were little and my grandparents were alive. There is nothing wrong with other languages jbg -- it may be valuable for you to learn one. I want to learn Hindi so I can talk to the little old lady at the Indian restaurant I frequent. Why should this (she must be at least 100yo) old lady be forced to learn a new language at her age? Should her family just ship her back to India 'cause she can't speak english? Indian and oriental women are by far the most beautiful on earth btw. The most beautiful men are blacks. Pasty, small-eyed, pimplyskinned white people don't even compare (except for maybe blue eyes) LOL

The sad part of this whole thing is that normally good people like Betsy would be willing to "detain" or "inter" their fellow citizens or call them terrorist "collaborators" for no reason other than a difference of opinion. Religion turns good people into bad people. The proof is right here. Betsy, how do we determine who is muslim if we are to "intern" all muslims? How about arm bands or tatoos on the wrist... for identification purposes of course.

The world needs atheists. The world needs sanity and levelheadedness and that can only be accomplished by NOT adhering to any unproveable fantasy of an unknowable entity. Arabs would have no problem with "western society" if not for religion. Religion should be banned. All religion. And if you want to call me a fanatical atheist go ahead. THIS is the problem right here. People believeing they are superior because of the country they reside in, the entity they prostrate themselves to, the colour of their skin or their gender. All human beings are equal. All of us. You, me and that asshat next door are all equals. To believe otherwise is bigotry plain and simple. and yes Betsy you are frothing at the mouth for some Canadian children to be killed. Why? Because it will give you further reason to hate people of a different religion. No Betsy I didn't say this is not a religious war. On the contrary, I said the exact opposite -- it certainly IS a stupid religious war... and that is why I believe religion (attire, symbols, prayers) should be completely banned except for inside the home.
