  1. All major governmental news stations that I know of are pro-centre, with an ever so slight left curve. And it does not matter to them how far left or right the existing government goes, they'll follow and still be "pro-government, with an ever so slight left curve." It's good for longevity, I hear. Now that Michael Ignatieff is looming large on the horizon I hope that CBC does a grand job in persuading the voters, because a Liberal minority this time around would be the quickest way to Michael Ignatieff's coronation. No more voter outcries such as ... "I hate Paul Martin and Stephen Harper. Unfortunately, there's not yet any better alternative on the horizon." We'll ALL like this one. I guarantee it! (NDP nutters excluded, of course!)
  2. So, on the one hand, the idea of allowing people to return to the land their forefathers of one or two genarations ago once called home is "ridiculous". On the other, letting people from the Bronx return to the land their forefathers lived in around 2,000 years ago is perfectly reasonable... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It was created because nobody wanted them, and now you want to overrun them wih the yahoos that like them the least? Tsk tsk tsk.
  3. This is probably the highest compliment I have been paid on any forum. The "Hilarious post" one I got not so long ago (the day before yesterday) was no slouch either. I like this place! But wouldn't you know it ... just today I got a call from the people at the old NPWBN, and they want me back. I declined. But I'll go there to look around, from time to time, just to see if there are any of the old faces from the old NPWBN over there. http://community.canada.com/[email protected]@.ee7d314 . Did you ever work for the NPWBN?
  4. I'M NOT A PLAGERIST!! I was sure everyone would remember this song: http://www.stlyrics.com/lyrics/reservoirdo...ddlewithyou.htm BTW - Don't you agree that that's the customary way to cast a vote for those who are undecided? In the middle? BTW II - Hey did you happen to find that most beautiful bouteille in the world? And if you did, was she flipping flipping?
  5. For Americans voting is tough. They actually have to think before they choose. For Canadians, voting is a song. It generaly goes something like: "Well I don't know why I'm voting tonight, I got the feeling that something ain't right, Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right, here I am, Stuck in the middle with you, Yes I'm stuck in the middle with you, Stuck in the middle with you."
  6. I'm sorry, it was presumptious of me to think that, just because we voted alike, you would also share my Yuletime feelings for Joe Clark. To make it up to you, I've decided to give you all the rights to my recent discovery of how to turn a bottle of Gatorade into a toy. http://www.mapleleafweb.com/forums/index.p...422entry77422 The easiest way to make a quick buck would be to call the Gatorade people and point out this dual use & advise them how, if they advertised this dual use, their sales would increase. But please don't mention your idea, the neck of that bottle is a bit too wide for that. YOU'RE WELCOME!
  7. I always wondered why the U.S. Costcos sell them (a case of 24) for five bucks less. Now I know.
  8. I bet you that if Michael Ignatieff read some of Pierre Trudeau's quotations, like: .... "If a democratic society is to continue to exist, it must be able to root out the cancer of an armed, revolutionary movement that is bent on destroying the very basis of our freedom." .... he would agree.
  9. I also bet you that none of the MLFers know that an empty 591 milliliter bottle of Gatorade (with it's cap on) makes for an excellent toy. When flipping it over, it doesn't just fall, but it literally flips over. The trick is, of course, to make it stand on it's head. That's where the angle you let it fall from comes into play. I'ts lots of fun and makes for an excellent Christmas present. Have you tried it yet? PS: The U.S. 591 ml bottles look identical and taste just as good, but they don't flip as well.
  10. I bet you that if Trudeau read some quotes from Ignatieff's 2004 book, The Lesser Evil, like: .... "When democracies fight terrorism, they are defending the proposition that their political life should be free of violence. But defeating terror requires violence. It may also require coercion, deception, secrecy and violation of rights." or: .... "Liberal societies cannot be defended by herbivores. We need carnivores to save us." .... he would agree. I don't think Ignatieff would wish to spend big bucks on a big army. Only enough that we don't look ridiculous compared to other nations our size. Like Trudeau did. I think he wants the American carnivores to protect us. Like Trudeau did.
  11. Ralph said that in an answer to those who complained about him giving $400 to each man woman and child in the province. Should he have asked the people if he can give it to them?
  12. With Michael Ignatieff ready to slip in you'd better NOT abandon them. One senior Liberal source told me today that Michael Ignatieff is "pretty much a lock", and added that efforts to find him a Toronto area riding were well under way. (Or did I read that in John Ivison's article in today's NP on page A6, I forget?) SO ... what riding will it be? Could it be that Bill Graham has 'Toronto Centre' all Christmas gift-wrapped for him? That's my guess, anyway.
  13. Coffee works for me. I know I know, coffee speeds me up too. But I already always do caffeinate myself up to my eyeballs before I run, so, like I said, I'll have to stay out longer. I haven't checked my odometer. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Aah, so you've bought that expensive little gadget that let's you know how far you've jogged. You know, PR, I've been thinking about how lucky we are that we've put in the time and effort (6 months of 5 or 6 hours a week of slow joging or power walking) the time it takes to start feeling the aerobic benefits. And how lucky are we that we then persevered for another 6 months, the time it takes to get to the point when aerobic exercise becomes aphrodisiacal and we got hooked and are actually looking forward to our long runs, power walks, swims or bike rides? I bet you that many MLFers don't know what they are missing.
  14. You'll be sorry you ever said that. Now that Ralph has set the Ontarians up, his next most likely move will be issuing a challenge to the Ontarian voters, saying something like "I'll eat my hat (cowboy boots, saddle) if Ontarians prove me wrong." They'd LOVE to see that, and it'll show at the ballot box.
  15. Hmm ... I always assume that he is bang on, so I presumed his calculations would be too. Thinking back to the article I read in yesterday's NP, titled "Where are the female Einsteins?" makes me wonder if he in fact is a ............. ah never mind it's just a silly thought. Hmm hmm hmm.
  16. Looking at the results I must say you did great, sir. The 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th and 15th spot that your five picks ended up in is nothing to sneeze at. As good handicapping as I've ever seen. Congratulations! Btw, sir, any idea which riding Paul Martin's star candidate, Michael Ignatieff, will end up in?
  17. Hey, Eagle Eye, that's twice today that you act surprised at how unobservant we are. Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed or something? Anyhow, I plead guilty to both these charges. Have to jog a little longer I guess so that more oxygen reaches my brain. What's your weekly mileage?
  18. YOU THINK ??? http://www.facsnet.org/tools/health/fishman.php “Technology is developing rapidly, and the technology is not cheap. A CT scanning machine costs about $1-1.2 million." WRONG BUCKO!
  19. A bit of a credibility problem here... Actually... not worth even answering this one.... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What .... paying 2 million dollars for a CAT scan machine scares you? Car mechanics are spending more than that to have state of the art diagnostic equipment in their corner garages, and it generaly pays for itself in less than two years. WE HAFF TO TALK, ERR!!
  20. Pocket said, just a post or so ago, that Joe Clark has lots of charisma, and with Christmas aproaching I think I know why he's thinking that. You see, Joe's "HO HO HOs" always sounded like what many of us imagine Santa Claus to sound like ... and Santa DOES have a lot of charisma. So many of us are bound to make that mistake while in the Christmas spirit. It's still too early but some children just can't wait, I guess.
  21. Don't ever put that on your resume!
  22. McQuaig is SO outdated, it's not even funny. Top-notch diagnostic equipment is as affordable to governments today as CRT 32" TVs are to the general population. It's not a big deal. And the ONLY reason Paul Martin's Liberals don't want to supply these is because, once that marvelous CAT scan, MRI or PET scan machine discovers a flaw, the follow up tests and procedures can be quite costly. So Martin's Liberals, in their ultimate wisdom, decided, seeing as how 80 or 90% of the time follow up tests come out negative anyway, to sacrifice the 10 or 20% or so of unfortunates who would come out positive. In other words, they are playing God. And that's scary. VERY scary!
  23. The aim of the CPCs is to keep up with the Jonses, so yes, we SHOULD see more money in our pockets with each passing year. And, unless the Americans unexpectadly warm up to that ugly tax that is SO clearly favoring the rich called the "GST", I can already see Stephen Harper, NOT only lowering it, but, over time, scrapping it all together. Give CPCers 7 years in power and their, AND OUR, favored chant will be ... "another tax bites the dust, another tax bites the dust". Just you wait and see.
  24. Same here! Same several times! WHAT A COINCIDENCE! I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
