Your question is probably aimed at the high end earners ... ie will the Aspers pick up their $100 a month? My question is the same ... but at the low end. Will people sitting on the dole with kids get their "day care" chit, even though they don't work & don't need daycare. We need specifics ... the devil is in the details.

Poll gives Liberals commanding lead
Biblio Bibuli replied to normanchateau's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It is obvious to me that you can read between the lines too. Good for you! I'm so certain that Harper will win, I'd love to put a few hundred bucks on him, but seeing as how my bookies, Paddy Power and tipsport.cz, don't list this electoral race, I'm at my wits end trying to find a reputable bookie that does. At this popsicle stand they have Martin at 2 to 5 and Harper at 2.5 to 1. : http://www.gambling911.com/Betting-odds-on...n-Election.html BTW - Did I tell you that I put $300 on Bush in his last race against Kerry? Doubled my money on that one. -
That's one thing, and perhaps the ONLY thing, I don't like about you, PocketRocket. You always wait and wait and wait .... and wait before you commit. I wouldn't be AT ALL surprised if you waited until five minutes before the polls closed in the far west before you blurted out your prediction on what the federal election will turn out like.. BE A MAN, PREDICT NOW!! PS - That the CPC will win comfortably is MY prediction. Wanna bet?

GOOD GRIEF, Montgomery Burns, you didn't make your prediction yet on how many seats will the CPCers win by. Get to it!

So what's your prediction, Canuk E Stan? It seems like we both know who is going to win, I gather, but by how much ... that IS the question!????????? I'll start it off by betting that the CPC will end up with 129. But I'm prepared to go higher. MUCH higher. It's your turn to bet! -

What would you call that ... "two-tier" healthcare? A two-tier health care system would have some services augmented by the person wanting the "faster care" or "better care". Currently, and pre-dating medicare in this country, we have had private health care clinics, radiology labs, etc... This should not come as a shock to any of you CPC types out there. Private "for profit" health care centres are not supposed to be paid for under the Canada Health Act.... And Jack Layton is trying to ensure that public funds go only to public health care.... not private health care, and not two-tier health care... only public health care. He's not going to try to directly shut down any private service and that seems to be the big conroversial statement .... he just won't give them any public money... If they can survive on their own, good for them... and if they can't... oh well... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The Calgary Herald says: "With Conservative leader Stephen Harper vowing there would be no two-tier health, and NDP leader Jack Layton acknowledging there may be a place for it, it is beginning to seem like "Invasion of the Body Snatchers". Where has the real Jack Layton gone?" All the other papers say the same thing. I always thought of Jack Layton as a bit if a "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" type of character. This time he turned from Hyde to Jekyll, and that is a good thing. -

What would you call that ... "two-tier" healthcare? Isn't that funny how, ALL OF A SUDDEN, Jack Layton is a proponent of two-tier healthcare. That little rascal ... he DID use those private clinics in the past, didn't he? DIDN'T HE? Not that I blame him. -

Those numbers should go up once Ontarians get a whiff of this powerful tidbit.: http://www.canada.com/theprovince/news/sto...7e-50e5d849dc8b (con't) "Harper said he was prepared to send a strong signal to the 20-or-so foreign fishing nations that he'll take steps to push the existing boundaries of the Flemish Cap and the Grand Banks out to the continental shelf and unilaterally seize control of the waters if there is continued infringement of Canadian territory." Let's see what Mr. Dithers counters with.

The Dutch don't cultivate it bacause they don't want to piss off a bunch of piddly countries in Europe, yet the Fraser Institute doesn't give a sh*t if they piss off the United States of America? That'll be the day! Preston Manning would be out of there in a heartbeat. -

Talk about calling the kettle black .... wasn't it interesting how Jack, out of the blue, turned on a dime and said that private clinics are okey-dokey? He did that right after Stephen Harper said that should Laureen need timely treatment he'd make SURE she got it. It makes you wonder if some wise guy leaned over to him and said ..... "Psst, Jack! Cut the crap or I'll tell them all about how Olivia got timely treatment for her recent bout with cancer." Makes me wonder, anyway. -

The True Facts Of Islam
Biblio Bibuli replied to Hasan Ali Tokuqin's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
Both, the Bible and the Koran, have hateful parts in them that can be interpreted only one way. The difference is that Christian clerics have ignored the the ugly parts while Muslim clerics are doing quite the opposite. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder though, and were Christians to evoke some of the more brutal parts for a year or so I think the problem could be solved. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I have a hunch that Benedict XVI is inching in that direction. -

Biblio Bibuli replied to normanchateau's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Yeah, the Netherlands, with their lower rates of drug use and incareration are such a bad example.... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The funny thing is that in the Netherlands they never did legilize marijuana. They just closed their eyes to it. And the only reason we all think it's legal there is because they keep their eyes fully shut to it. And that's the route we should take, IMHO. -
