I am just envious saying 'Americans must think their flag is God'. I wish Canada took their flag seriously, the Red Ensign rather than to try to appease Quebec with the all Canadian Maple Leaf flag, which did nothing to lure Quebec to be part of Canadian ideologies as they are just as loyal to their provincial 'Fleur De Lise' flag as a symbol of Quebec 'nationalism' as they ever were. Now our 'Maple Leaf flag' basically stands for nothing, since the country remains disunified, with the maple leaf flag representing 'no Canadian history' which was previously our proud association with the British and their history. I would like to see a return of the the Red Ensign that represents our association as a 'Constitutional Monarchy' rather than play emotional flag games to appease Quebec.

Now why would you do that, unless you honestly believe Mr.Trudeau was indeed saving Canada and not working for Quebecers and their political ideologies and lack of advancement for Quebecers in Canadian/Quebec society. With the failure of both Meech and the Charlottetown Accord, Mr. Trudeau killed many birds at the same time (preserving the French language) by forcing Canadians to accept Quebec as a distinct society, as a society with a language just as equal by law as the English language, as a society and people with special privileges (relating to public service employment and official bilingualism and its promotion throughout Canada, not including Quebec) in a dictatorial Canadian Charter and amended with the rest of our constitution forming a Canadian Constitution. This is on top of the fact of forcing Canadian tax payers to foot the bill.

I am not speaking only on behalf of myself but of family and friends who have over the years who have experienced hospital meals. I have been in hospitals over the years and hospital meals pretty much, stay the same. While hospital meals do not equate to meals served in a five star hotel, they are for the most part acceptable and nutritious. I have never heard of a family member or friend complain about hospital meals to the degree that Margrace tries to make out as being frozen slop and being inedible.

Harper anxious about loonie's 'rapid' surge

If the U.S.$ goes down to .25 CDN, what is the value of the CDN at that point, $1.80-2.00 or who knows for sure. Then who will trade with Canada relating to the same resources we normally trade with the U.S., when you have to tack on shipping plus our high dollar. Regardless most other world countries have their own preferred countries they do business with and Canada isn't one of them and won't be one of them. Canadian manufacturer sector would crumble and our economy would be on the rocks. I think you will see war before the above scenario becomes reality. -
Americans must think their flag is God. U.S. is the nation of wall to wall flags, no matter where you go in the U.S., all you see are flags and more flags. I sooner sing 'God Save the Queen'.

I was in an Ottawa hospital and was served for breakfast a hard boiled egg, toast, juice, a muffin and a coffee. I found that fine. And then in mid-morning juice was served and toast was available. Lunch included juice, a chicken sandwich and cookies. I had no complaints, but could not sample dinner as my stay was a short one. So tell me what is the usual dinner or supper you describe as frozen slop.

Of course not. Those are only lackey's of traitor Trudeau and his private on going war, 'Battle of the Plains of Abraham' against the majority English speakers of Canada. Like I said, 'federalism' does not, or cannot work in Canada with Quebec in confederation, but you would never know it with federal politicians that continue to play federal dysfunctional politics, as if everything is 'honkey dorey'. This belongs in 'Ripley's'.

What exactly do you consider evidence? Complaints made public through the media from Quebec English speaking residents courtesy of the 'Quebec language police'. -
As far as I know hospitals are not hotels and hospital meals were ALWAYS pretty well basic food. I am curious though as what constitutes the type of frozen meals you describe as "slop", because I have not seen anything you describe as that?

If China for instance decides to diversify its holdings, would result in a further collapse of the U.S. dollar thus creating economic disaster for Canada. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6106280.stm -
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/sto...MAIN08/TPStory/ Can you possibly imagine an all out economic war. What would be the consequences of this happening in relationship to the 'Great Depression' from 1929-39?

No, education has little to do with this matter if Quebec remains in confederation. No one could write a Canadian constitution in a country that contains two official groups English and French with opposing and conflicting political ideologies. That is why federalism does not work to-day and why our current constitution racially discriminates. This is why Canadian politicians decided to only allow provinces to ratify our current constitution rather than allow the people of Canada to ratify it, because politicians knew Canadians would never ratify the 'Charter' judging from the failure of the Canadian electorate to ratify the Charlottetown Accord. Yes, 100% by national referendum on matters that could affect the lives Canadian citizens collectively. Yes. No, that is what we have now and it clearly does not work for majority concerns.

In the real world Canada is De facto majority English speaking + or - Quebec. Then what do your stats have to do with the English in Quebec learning French like you implied originally? We all know the ONLY reason English learn French in Quebec is because they are forced to by Quebec's 'French Language Charter' that makes French the 'official language ' throughout the entire province of Quebec and not because 82% are native French or 95% are fluent in French. Well let's see, we know we have the English nation. Indians and Eskimos were comprised of several tribes/nations. And then we have the Scots, Irish and Welsh nations. And of course we have French Canadians with all of them being British, with NONE of them a French nation as it had chosen the 'Treaty of Paris', to abandon all its once held North American territory, 'New France'. These are facts and all part of history. You are an arrogant individual to suggest Quebec being a real nationalistic French society when it cannot even support its own French ideologies without the tremendous ongoing help of the federal government. This failed French society has failed to be a successful self-sustaining French society and is entirely dependent on federalism and the Canadian tax payer for its cultural survival. Who else, Britain? Of course Quebec has chosen to emulate their home country, France. You mean you have a hard time noticing the cultural connection. France does have excellent relations with Quebec.
-
The only minority in Quebec are the French, who are a small minority when compared to those who use the English language in other Canandian provinces. Quebec is still a province in Canada and any calculations involving the French language must include the Canadian population from all provinces combined. Even your statistics are improperly implied as the English speaking population from your own posted website is only 7.9% indicating that many speak English and the ones that do speak French are forced to by Quebec's French Language Charter' that makes French the 'official language in Quebec'. Of course French official language in Quebec fails to be recognized as official by our OWN federal government and who does nothing to STOP this OPPRESSION and OUTRIGHT RACIAL DISCRIMINATION, against Quebec's SO CALLED MINORITIES. The whole quote was: "Even if a French Quebec federal politician mandated English and French as being federally official simply shows how dysfunctional our federal government by officializing a foreign language that is no more important than Italian, Chinese or any other used foreign language in Canada. France is not a country in Canada." Maybe you can explain on what official basis 'French' was made an official language of Canada because in my mind that would constitute the ONLY reason to make French an official language would be to include the impossibility of France being another country within Canada. And forget the 'founding nation bit', because that is a false assertion along with Quebec being a 'nation within Canada' because for the simple reason Canada pays Quebec to allow Quebec to retain its cultural aspirations. Quebec is an artificial society and is NOT a self-sustaining society and is paid for by the majority English speaking society of Canada through a multitude of federal programs and transfer payments. Quebec should be grateful for letting Canadians to allow its existence rather than behaving in the mannerism of a French country while directly contributing to the dysfunctionality of our federal government, which dramatically shows federalism is not working in Canada for Canadians but mostly to support the political aspirations of a foreign state. Shame, shame shame.
-
In this country I don't need to learn no other minority foreign language. Minorities should learn to learn the majority language, an old trick of survival. The de facto language of Canada and the U.S. is the English language and that is all that is required, except by employers including the federal government that are willing to racially discriminate against the users of the majority English language. Even if a French Quebec federal politician mandated English and French as being federally official simply shows how dysfunctional our federal government by officializing a foreign language that is no more important than Italian, Chinese or any other used foreign language in Canada. France is not a country in Canada.

It's your type of attitude that is destroying the country and why we have to depend on immigration. I am so smart, I don't have to work, like you. -
GOOD NEWS! http://www.canada.com/ottawacitizen/news/s...5172457&p=2 Well I think Durham is on the same level because without his recommendations the English in Canada would have probably sought solace and political alignment with their English American Western neighbours and no one could or can predict what the outcome of that one would have been. Good for Lord Durham and everything British from saving us from the hands of the French.
-
I have lived through the era, even up into the early sixties and know for a fact that the only thing that came out of Quebec in relation to its physical proximity to Ottawa, was labourers and truck drivers and Quebecers whining and crying the blues blaming the English for their self induced problems, political and social. Maybe Dancer can tell us the reason Quebec did not have a compulsory education prior to 1943.
-
Canadian history...surely you are not making reference to non-existent French Canadian history that went out the window with the 'Treaty of Paris' and is now only memories that Quebecers (refugees with no political history) relish starting in Canada with the Quebec Act. Durham is an important figure relating to Canadian history and the Queen is more Canadian then you Dancer boy.

You sound as screwed up as the guy who said this from the same link: http://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.com/ind...s=M1ARTM0013047 I tried it to and indeed that is a dead link. You can try faxing them at 819-684-6428 or E-mail: [email protected]. You get them to explain their inaccurate article, fellow. -
