One would assume that Quebec, the province that has gained the most via official multiculturalism would not want to open a 'cultural can of worms' by objecting to trivial nonsense, like objecting to a 'head scarf' the hijab of another minority culture.

And that new competitive price in the U.S. is and that much worse here in Canada: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12400801/ But not to fear Pliny, experts have predicted the demand will lessen when oil reaches $182.00 barrel and unless new sources of oil are not found by 2015, will leave the world short by about 60-million barrels of oil a day. Buyt I won't quote sources since you believe all are only opinions.

FACT: Well Pliny, the fact is we are short of oil or President George W. Bush would NOT be humiliating himself and U.S. citizens by begging the Saudis to pump more oil. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/17/world/mi...nyt&emc=rss

Hundreds flock to National Prayer Breakfast in Ottawa
Leafless replied to maldon_road's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
There is nothing as volatile as a pile of non- Christian minority faiths in a country that was formed on Christianity ideologies, with Christianity still being by far, the majority religion of Canadians. There is no common ground in an issue like this and if Canada is truly officially multicultural it must swallow its true Christian identity and discontinue national prayer events such as this. Multiculturalism is a curse relating to Canada's true identity and now we must SUFFER the consequences from this ill conceived piece of anti-Canadian propaganda. -
If you do believe the most respected journal of economics, what can be said. http://www.wealthdaily.com/articles/peak+o...tion-global/374

Sure they do. From the same link: So flooding the market with oil, when demand is high, will artificially under MOST circumstances result in lessening the demand, resulting in lower oil prices or if demand still remains high will stabilize prices. http://www.harvardir.org/articles/1299/ BTW- personal opinions are worthless (in this type of issue) unless backed by some sort of proof.

Whats the matter Dancer, it is not a dishonest one but only a relevant one. Can't face the fact OPEC stands for Organization of ARAB Petroleum Exporting Countries" and its majority 7-nation membership speaks ARABIC. You go straighten them out Dancer! LOL

And where do you suppose your Canadian identity comes from? You would not be Canadian without Kings and Queens of Britain: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_of_Canada
-
You are the one that should be careful. And don't imply one does not know what you stated. What I said was regarding passports was: The Queen's name is simply 'Sovereign' and she herself does not require a passport but others in the royal family do require a passport. And secondly, I am not giving a course on the role of the Queen in Canada, but 'Order of Canada Honours are the highest CIVILIAN honour within the Canadian system of honours applied to any ordinary Canadian worthy of receiving such an honour. All other honours are mostly relating to military and not your average Canadian citizen.

It was Quebec who chose to retain the 'Quebec'Act', which included an incompatible obsolete language and the Catholic religion. It was you who said: So if Quebec wished to advance its society at a rate equal to the ROC, then it would have been wise to enjoy all the same cultural amenities English Canada receives, by assimilating, rather than adhering to conditions in the 'Quebec Act'. This of course would not prevent a francophone from privately carrying on the French culture, like the English do when we toast to our ancestors at times like Christmas and discuss old traditions from our different cultures. The White, English speaking, Christian culture and all its advances in North America is the dominant culture which all other minority cultures try to copy. No one would argue that. "Speak White" is a nonsensical statement. Mostly Quebecers are of the White race, like the majority are in Canada. You are displaying your hatred. Quebec language rights were confined to Quebec before CORRUPT federal politics made 'French' an official language of Canada, whereas the 'English language' needed no official title because English WAS already the de-facto language of Canada. Do you SEE the corruption making official, a small minority obsolete French language to be used as an equal with mainstream English? Is this logical? Is this practical? Is this financially acceptable and ethical to all Canadians that must finance this huge amount of money to accomplish this? Does this not discriminate? Discrimination and undemocratic corrupt politics is nothing to brag about. What culture/language are you,(not English or French???) making another nonsensical statement playing BOTH sides of the issue, like some alien from another planet, when you are in fact French. It is not only English speaking Canadians that are discriminated upon, but any minority that wishes to use the English language in Quebec including francophones. That is your option. -
So the truth is finally coming out that immigration is not alleviating the fact home grown Canadians were 'not kidding' when they refused minimum wage jobs for the same reason, much less raise a family. Canada will be one big cold slum country yet, thanks to incompetent politicians including their immigration fantasies.
-
Canada is still a Dominion. But I will tell you why the feds don't use it: Thank you Quebec, thank you for nothing.
-
How ignorant you are my little francophone friend. The Queen holds no citizenship. She cannot be a British citizen or Canadian, as her Majesty IS the BESTOWER OF CITIZENSHIP for ALL countries she is head of state. And the Queen does not need a passport to enter Canada because ALL Canadian passports are issued in the Queen's name. The Queen of Canada by the virtue of her position also bestows all 'Order of Canada ' honours. The Queen is more Canadian than you are, my little friend.
-
Technically, I could be talking about either. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OPEC

Minority demands cannot trump majority concerns and you know it. If any minority feels this way, start and build your own country, out of Canada that is. Again unreasonable cultural demands cannot be tolerated or you have minorities dictating majority cultural concerns, such as what we have in the federal public service. For instance, can you imagine if shove came to push between Quebec and the ROC the harm that could be done by francophones loyal to Quebec, to the inner workings (i.e. destruction of federal computers) of the federal government that could cause havoc and bring Canada to a standstill? Arguing in the defense of Quebec policies as if Ontario language laws are enacted is nonsensical and destructive.

I agree. And for good reason to.

Now you are claiming Quebec never wanted anything to do with the 'Quebec Act' and it was forced on them. Which raises the old question, WTF does Quebec really want? Then keep Quebecers and the French language in Quebec and all's well, if you detest English Canada so much. Then why don't you quote those percentages? "Speak White" is really condescending and shows you have little understanding of the superior culture. But it is not done in a free and democratic manner, that is why. You simply do not want to accept defeat and threaten the breakup of Canada because of it. It is no ones fault if there are not enough French speakers to freely influence the French language throughout Canada and applying communist tactics to CONTROL 'the demand' is discriminatory, undemocratic and totally wrong. -
The discriminating factor is ONLY Quebec declared itself officially french and to date not other provinces. I fail to see provinces retaliating to protect their English language in lieu of what Quebec did is an act of war on french Canadians. Anyways, TO DATE THIS DID NOT HAPPEN, SO WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM?? You are free to argue this is it ever becomes FACT. Again, Quebec always did have the same rights as any other Canadians and if they refuse to assimilate, what can be said. Quebec rights include the rights of its language and religion WITHIN the province of Quebec. It is Quebec's responsibility to capitalize on these rights within their own province. Where is the law that says this???? It is not other provinces who are advocating the break up of Canada, it is Quebec, who are unable to manage their own freely chosen identity. I don't blame you, the ball currently is in your park with the help of Canada's dysfunctional English/French federal government.
-
So, what does it do with this data? http://www.harvardir.org/articles/1299/ And don't try to censure me claiming I can't refer to Middle East oil as Arab oil. EVERYONE BUT YOU DOES.
-
If Quebec were to separate then then it would be their choice whether or not to officialize their French language. But if Quebec is in confederation, receiving all the benefits of confederation, to declare french the official language of Quebec is like declaring war on Canada. They are creating a totally french state which is against all aspects of a democratic free country like Canada. Canada is already a country and needs no competition from a province emulating a dictatorship. French by itself is not a threat in Ontario. But when combined with the dysfunctional bilingual actions of the federal government, who it seems, does not know its own loyalties to the country, due this dysfunctionality, does present a very real threat to the residents of Ontario who must be provincially protected from discriminatory federal intervention. If Ontarians are not protected from this federal bias, then this should serve notice to all other majority English provinces in Canada, to force the federal government to implement an immediate national referendum on whether or not to keep Quebec in confederation.

The french population of Canada always did have the same rights has any other Canadian. They freely chose not to assimilate, that is their problem and has nothing to do with fairness. But of course many francophones were assimilated and is the reason so many are bilingual to-day. Forcing the majority de-facto English speaking citizens of Canada to swim in the same linguistic boat as francophones, by dysfunctional federal governments, is totally discriminatory and wrong and is a carry over from the battle of the 'Plains of Abraham'. -

And why not? English is the majority de-facto language in Canada. But the point in all this is Ontario has the French Language Services Act and Quebec has its French Language Charter. In Quebec we have the French language majority, publicly funded to protect itself from the English speaking minority. And in Ontario we have the English speaking majority publicly funding a French watchdog group to protect and promote the French minority. Discriminatory? Ontario tax payers are suckers? You tell me. -
Ontarians don't worry about loosing language rights per say, but do worry about having their jobs taken away from them by french speaking obsolete language fanatics who seriously disrupt English speaking society, incorporating discriminatory federal style bilingual ideologies. Open up Quebec to the English or stay home in Quebec. We don't need or want an obsolete french language interfering with our majority English speaking society. This is why the English language in Ontario MUST be made official, to protect majority English interest, like the French do in Quebec.
