  1. There you go, democracy at work...
  2. Since the NDP is the official opposition I do think we have become a banana republic, I agree with you Ricky boy....
  3. Speak to your local MP.
  4. I meant more of the type where people get murdered because Anti-Am was comparing our government and the PM to a dictator. I don't think brutal dictators conduct a purge by closing down dissident, they kill or imprison dissident...
  5. But he and his party are the legitimate governing party, therefore he can make the decision and federal departments have to follow those decisions.
  6. So? Are you saying that Harper is like Putin?
  7. The reasoning behind the decision is irrelevant, what they state is that you are on government time you don't criticize the government, if you want to criticize the government do so on your own time and make it clear that it is your opinion rather then the opinion of the agency you work for. Simple as that.
  8. I don't remember reading anything about a purge of dissident's in the government...
  9. Says you... The PM and the MP's were elected, therefore their decisions are to be followed, if you don't like those decisions vote different next time.
  10. Same what? Telling people don criticize the government while on government time? Don't pretend that you speak for the organization?
  11. The head of the department takes his orders from his superior who takes his orders from the PM, the one who is voted in to office every 4-5 years. If you work for Microsoft and go online or to the local paper or TV station and criticize them you will not have a job for long. Parks Canada has a job to do, and that job comes down from the government elected by the people of this country, some random guy working in Parks Canada cannot dictate the direction of the Department.
  12. Didn't you vote in May of 2011?
  13. What are you saying? Everyone from every department can start to criticize the government they work for? Can you imagine the 454,000 government employees trying to push their agenda? Every Agency will be at standstill because none will work since they will be busy telling the elected government how to do their work.
  14. Their job is to do what the government tells them to do...seeing as they are government employees...once again let me point out if you don't like where the organization is heading quit or criticize on your own time and without bringing your connection to the agency in question.
  15. Its their duty to support the government regardless of the Party in power, government agency gets orders from the government.
  16. Its your job to DO YOUR JOB you know that one you would be getting a pay check for, rather then being a political activist on someone else's dime.
  17. Irrelevant, because you are hired to do a job by the government of Canada, if you disagree with said job find another one that you agree with. I may or may not agree with my CoC but I know when and where to make my opinions heard. IF you are employed by Parks Canada, and you make a claim, Hi my name is John Smith I work at Parks Canada and I disagree with this or that policy it appears that you are speaking for organization... if you say I am John Smith and my opinion is that such and such policy is wrong...without bringing out the fact you are employed by said organization no problem with it... A government department that employes thousands of people cannot have those thousands of people voicing their opinions as if they are the opinions of the department in question. An elected government gives orders, the departments below do as they are told.
  18. They work for the government they do as their employer tells them, otherwise they find another job. Every competent employer follows the exact same policy.
  19. If you are at work you are representing your organization, any comment you may or may not make could reflect badly on your organization therefore companies and government agencies have rules in place to make sure people who cross the boundary are removed. Every organization has methods for people to pass any issues up through their chain of command. If you are speaking as mentioned above, in an anonymous forum or amongst friends you can let your opinions be known, but when you are at work and therefore represent your place of employment you have to follow the rules. There are ways for you to voice your opinion and then there are ways not to voice your opinion like everything else in life it comes down to the fact that there is a time and a place for everything.
  20. There are requirements for any job wether it be public of private sector, badmouthing your boss or your organization might make your leadership decide that you are not the kind of person they want to employ. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parks_Canada They owe their allegiance to the Government of Canada.
  21. Wow you hurt me sooooooo much Rick...
  22. That would explain a lot...
