  1. Spoken as a true blind mindless peon worshipping to the religion of capitalism unable to see there are other solutions.
  2. That's quite a leap. There has been increasing globalization of economy and cheaper wages paid by other countries. More outsourcing of what was once North American goods and services to cheaper markets. Also isn't it interesting that the top 1% of income earners earnings are skyrocketing vs the rest of the income earners. Big business lobbyists and corrupt government officials are having a heyday making big bucks while we little peon wage slaves blame eachother and infight.
  3. Are there gender differences? Sure. We experience the world differently based on our genders. In my view that brings a balance to this world that is necessary. You say "When female activists meet with verbal opposition — as anyone who watches student protests on YouTube can observe — they are far more likely than men to react emotionally, sobbing or screaming, which effectively shuts down any dialogue.." Men and women both react emotionally. Women are more likely to cry and sob, men are more likely to react with aggression and anger. In all cases the logical part of the brain becomes disconnect and civil discourse becomes inaccessible. I think we all have a lot to learn from each other, and rather than using our differences to shame and insult, and toss gasoline of the fuel of gender wars, we should endeavour to make some efforts to understand and appreciate one another and the balance and beauty each bring to the table.
  4. No trans person claims to be a biological (aka cis) gender. Hence we use the terms cis and trans. Under individual rights and freedoms they can identify however they want whom are they harming by taking hormones and surgically altering themselves to align their outer person with whom they are inside? Are the objectors of they are not biological planning to do genetic testing on people to confirm biological sex? I find the current hateful and disrespectful speech towards trans people concerning. People refusing to use their new names (cis and straight people change their names and use names other than their given names all the time- people don't seem to go out of their way to call them by those old names).
  5. Health care is a blend of provincial and federal government. Funding flows to the provinces from federal, but the provinces oversee/administer the programs/system. In this way you will see a lot of variety. Pros- you're not going to go bankrupt, and if you're having a health crisis that is life threating you will likely get rapid and good treatment (although due to lack of staffing in some areas- some emergency rooms have struggled to stay open at times) Cons- for some things you might wait forever to get treatments and surgeries and it is hard to get a family doctor in many areas. Because they system is publicly funded you are not treated like a customer by many within the healthcare system. Some workers will vent their frustrations and anger at you if you ask questions like how much longer will you be waiting in emergency (many have signs that say it will take as long as it will take so don't ask). This is where the states might have it better. If you do have insurance then you are likely getting treated with better customer service and getting the service more quickly.
