As you were not in court and do not know the extent of the evidence and investigation, you are not aware of why the judge made that judgment. While the incident was a true tragedy, the sentence may have been as a result of the investigation and circumstance. This has nothing to do with lefties or extremists it has to do with actual investigation and evidence and perhaps even the health status of the accused. Judges take al those things into consideration when sentencing.

I have no idea why you do not see any. I see them everywhere. One reason some do not get any work is that they submit, never follow up. Email applications and do not show up personally to confer with the employer. They do not knock on doors, just think all can be done electronically. I come by this conclusion by talking with store and restaurant managers/owners. Some have said they have dozens of application bit never seen the applicants. As far as labour jobs, the companies I know say some apply but never show up at 6 AM or they show up one day and never come back.

You do realize the lockout is proposed on the day the strike can be held is because CN does not want to transport goods in case the union walks out and the goods of all kinds, perishable etc, will be stuck or abandoned and spoil when the union walks out and trains stop. CN/CP does not own the goods and does not want to have it's customers product to spoil. Lockouts occur often and do so to prevent further damage.
