While that sounds nice, it turns out "empathy" is expensive. Allowed to fester, and it has, Liberalism is apparently not aware that knee-jerk reactions to issues, generally produce sh1t. Conservatives tend to operate primarily on deliberative responses to issues. They view change as an issue that must be fully analyzed before taking action. This is not to say Conservatives dont experience empathy, but that in their analysis, empathy is only one of numerous variables taken into account. And thus this tug-o-war goes.
